This is one of my pet peeves. I find it quite annoying, but I must admit that on occasion it's quite humorous, that whenever there's a hurricane, tornado or some sort of storm, the networks send their anchors and weather people to the scene to endure the severe rain and wind just to get a story. I just don't see the need to place these people in danger.. I've seen more than a couple of reporters practically blown down the street because of the high winds. I saw one reporter actually blown on his behind awhile back. But instead of the network cutting from that scene, they continued to roll the camera while he struggled to get up and stayed with him until he did so. I guess it was mandatory that he finish his report.

The networks must  feel that the more wind and rain a reporter can endure, the higher their ratings?. And why can't they direct the camera towards the rain and wind and report from a safe location inside a building?..I saw a reporter this morning out in the wind and rain interviewing three guys who owned a restaurant and decided not to evacuate. Uh, could they not interview these guys INSIDE their restaurant??.. Also, if there's a supposed curfew beginning at midnight, why are these reporters allowed to be out on the streets beyond that time?  Well, I'm off my soapbox.

RC,I'm sorry but I gotta go against you on this one.First though let me say that I hope anyone reporting from a danger zone is there voluntarily and not being made to do so.
Now beyond that I gotta say i love it.I'm a severe weather nut of the highest order and to me seeing the reporters throwing themselves into the fray.
As for the Weather Channel those are a whole other sort right there, the sort like me.Well, not exactly like me because, unlike Jim Cantore,I used to pay my bar tabs when I was out on the road.HA!HA!HA!
No but really Jim is cool though.Despite my misgivings with some of Weather Channel so called "professionals"(like "Dr." Heidi Cullen)most are I admire the way they put themselves right in the middle of it.Speaking of no other on air weather personality puts themselves into it like TWC's Nichole Mitchell.Besides being mega hot and sexy she also has a professional resume a mile long including being an onboard Weather Officer on the Air Force Reserve's Hurricane Hunter C-130's.That's about as "into it" as you can throw yourself.
Besides those two another fave of mine is Bob Ryan.Out of those I'd have to say that they fall in order with Jim Cantore,Bob Ryan,Nichole Mitchell and then last, but not least,my all time fave weather gal,Sue Palka. How could I not mention her?How could I take a chance on not wearing a cup if I ever did chance to meet her after not mentioning her?You go Sue!
Anyhow, best of luck to all of the "chasers" out there putting themselves in dire straits.
