It's been almost two years since i started blogging here.  Fox is one of the only sites that not only allows the peasants to blog but actually gets us involved and interacts with us through e-mails, chats, interviews, and featured posts.  There is nothing better than exercising that good 'ole first amendment right.  However, everything in life has consequences.

Throwing out one's own opinion can only expect other opinions to be thrown back.  Some are pleasant when they disagree and some are not.  If only we could all be as diplomatic as PBMom - including myself.  Even when vehemently opposed to an opinion, she sticks to the topic and never lets it get personal.

Most bloggers are tolerant and accepting of others even when opinions vary.  Some are not.  The Rev and I remain polar opposites on our interpretation of what the Bible says and doesn't say about being gay.  We have had some heated moments but still respect one another.  There are some whose hatred for an entire mass of people boggles my mind and truly frightens me.  The indifference of a (Fox) weekend co-anchor in his blog was shocking.  I thank God that I have never encountered the hatred and intolerance in my personal life that have encountered here. I hope none of them have a gay son or daughter.  It is their mentality that causes the suicides of gay teenagers who are told over and over that they are worthless and an abomination.

I was lucky and perhaps naive to the evil out there because never have my parents, syblings, friends, teachers, clergy, or employer told me I was broken and needed to be fixed because I was born gay.  I am not afraid to be honest and I will always be proud.

i think some people have mistaken their second amendment right for a right to execute.  i hate guns.  i have seen too many gunshot wounds at work - intentional and accidental - and the outcome is never good.  i would have no problem with a mandate for "law enforcement only" to carry a weapon.  there are too many guns on the street and too many people carrying a gun that can't even spell "gun".  did you read the story recently of the eight year old who accidently shot himself with an uzi?  an eight year old with access to an uzi is beyond my comprehension.  there are other ways to settle an argument than blowing a hole through someone.  is the national rifle association just a nice name for a national murder association?

melva and carmen are good contributors, but i am sooooo proud when i see (PB)mom giving her opinion on FOX26 news family matters.  i come from a large family, but whenever we could, my mom was the one who made sure we sat down to dinner together.  when i was growing up, Thanksgiving was really the only time ALL six of us sat down at one time as we span 20 years apart and my older siblings had their own families.  my sister and i grew up together in the family home as the older ones were already gone.  but like she said, it doesn't even need to be dinner, just getting together to play a board game or discuss the day kept us close.  again, i admire (PB)mom. although she's close to my age, she reminds me of my own mom.  fearless leader, protector, and provider. and like i tell my own mother "there is nothing better than a mom hug!"

during our recent visit to san antonio, bruce and i picked up a little more than a history lesson at the alamo.  just as i was bragging about how long its been since i've had a cold.....

i am very bug concsious and wash my hands frequently especially when getting home from the grocery store.  its amazing how much my nose and eyes itch on the way home from the store when i know i don't wanna touch my face.

the riverwalk was fun and entertaining, but warm and wet with lots of hosts to spread germs.  seems like the bugs have a great time there as well.  the railings, door handles, etc. - i shudder to think of the bacteria and viruses lurking about.  i thought i washed my hands often, but apparently not often enough.  one night when we got back to the room i sat on the bed after my shower.  standing near me, bruce hadn't showered yet and i swear i could hear the bugs crawling on him! LOL

anyway, thank goodness i didn't get the flu shot the day i came back because i probably would have blamed this cold on that.  i am not a good patient.  i complain a lot and don't like to be uncomfortable.  i haven't been to the gym since before the san antonio trip and i feel like a slug.  i get short of breath just drying off after a shower and pray that i don't have pneumonia.  i hate the way cold medicine makes me feel.  nyquil gives me out of body experiences. LOL  sooooo with flu season upon us, good hygiene is a good defense.  i suggest the flu shot (which i intend to get, but not now) and vitamins as well - esp vitamin C.

happy fall, and stay healthy!

i just found out that jerry reed has been dead for a week.  with all the news i watch i don't know how i missed that til now.  i guess the storms took precedence over his death.  i read it in the newspaper.  they didn't even mention that he met my sisters backstage at the grand ole opry which i'm sure was the highlight of his carreer - LOL!  thats debbie on the left, wendythib in the middle, and diane on the right.
