When being sworn into congress today I think all representitives should place their hand on a stack of money instead of the Koran, Torah, or Bible because this is all they pledge allegiance to now-adays. After all it says it right on the back of the money "In God We Trust"

Pinkywalker:

I agree, being as though all these politicians care about is the money, maybe they should use a stack of the highest denomination of bills that are made today, because it appears they do not believe in God. What amazes me the most, we have been forced to take prayer out of schools, it is against the law to have a statue of the Ten Commandments on the courthouse lawn, yet thus far, they have not removed Him from the money. I also wonder what God do they trust in, just the one on the money probably.

Nobody took prayer out of schools. This is a common misconception maintained by certain people to make others look bad. Students, teachers and staff can pray if they want. All the Supreme Court said is that a public school employee -- who is an agent of the government -- be it a teacher, administrator, or staff member, cannot lead students in prayer in the official course of business BECAUSE the government -- which isn't a theocracy and represents EVERYONE, including non-Christians and non-religious people -- cannot constitutionally endorse a particular religion.

I never sent my kids to school to pray. Isn't that private business? If you live in a community that is somewhat international in population, how do you address everyone's prayer needs? I don't believe in forcing the christian thing on everyone. It's wrong.
