This poem I wrote a while back pretty much sums up my thoughts on the war:
Wrapped in Flags
The bodies that come home wrapped in flags
Belong to the young lambs sacrificed
For those whose belief in A Love Supreme
Is only a love of self.
The tears shed over those body-filled flags
Belong to the mothers and sisters and wives of
Lambs who were slaughtered before they could
Become the rams that would rid us of wolves.
What do the young warriors know,
Except what the old cowards order them to do.
This clash of cultures and clash of faiths
Serves only to grieve the Heart of God.
They pledge allegiance to the flag,
They fly the banner in battle.
Old Glory does not shield them from bullets, she
Only embraces them in death.
The bodies that come home wrapped in flags,
Will always belong to the strong and brave.
If only the rulers were brave enough to
Strong the arms of war away.
