I must admit when it comes to making people realize that they are not meant to be entertainers this Brit knows how to tell it like it is..and for the most part I agree with his comments. However, on the Seattle episode I was disturbed by Simons comments towards a guy, that was very obviously, "challenged".
I think, if not for a lucky call with the "Spice Girls" this idiot has very little to offer our culture. He really should be careful in his comments. The guy he put down, was truly hurt by "Simons" comments. I don't think it is too hard to see who has delusions of granduer and who is a bit challenged. I am,by far, one who believes one has the right too speak what they feel, but also one that believes in compassion first.
Simon,I have always believed, that you are in poor physical shape (ie. should not wear the clothes you do),a bit arrogant for your own good, and certainly have no right to put down my fellow Americans.
These are my beliefs, and I would certainly watch the fellow he made fun of, before I would ever watch his show again!
Stand up to this degradation of our culture and moral beliefs, and defend those less fortunate!

OCR, I agree with you from an emotional standpoint, but I try to understand this whole cattle call concept. I cannot believe after having watched 4 hours of some of the worst television ever... where people who don't have any singing skills, actually think that they do! Simon is a clown to be sure, but the only thing I can say in his defense, if anything, is that he didn't really know how hurtful his words were maybe because he was just knocked out from watching poor performance after another. But you're right, he has no class... he still gives no love to Taylor Hicks, who to me, seems like a real nice guy and deserving of winning last season. Don't worry....he'll get his!

oceancityrealtor....How can you say Simon has no right? The right was given him when he was asked to take the position of what shall we say Judge. He is honest and skillful, that really is all that is required IF we are to take the show as a serious competition. His dress? Are we in judgement of that too? How about 'OUR' dress? I see your photo and mine too..happy shell collecting!

Well, if people are foolish enough to sign up for the show, then they certainly know what they are in for. You have to remember that it is "reality" TV. Every season Simon makes fun of people, especially if they are dressed up and try to do more than just sing.!! After all, it is a singing competition! Also, you have to be very good to sing a Jewel song, especially if she is guest judging on the panel!! That's just suicide if you ask me!! I say to Fox....bring it on. I love it

Q: How different is this season from past ones? A: What differences? It's the same show, the same formula, the same everything!

Seriously? Do you really think that anyone who tried out didn't know that they would be ridiculed if they sucked?
Why expose yourself if you can't take it?

I cannot jump on this anti-Simon bandwagon. Reality is one of those things we try to hard as a country to protect people from. You have to sign a waiver to get on tv. You also have to show up, wait for hours and still after you hear what happen to everyone before--you go forward. But 37 million viewers, and very good recording sales when the industry is suffering, says they are not going to be affected by this nor will they change a thing. The show is a launching pad for good and in one case a bad singer. Jennifer Hudson, Mario Vasquez, Kelly Clarkson all got attention from this little show with Simon on it.

I must make clear a point that I may not have articulated clearly in my initial post. I feel "zero" compassion for the comments , derogatory, or otherwise directed at the "singers" and the talents they believe they possess. The point I was attempting to make was Simon should be able to tell the difference from someone who is obviously handicapped (like Paula) and refrain from taking personal jabs directed at physical appearance. And for those who are uneasy in the "YOUR"dress, I think you could relate? By the way, shell collecting is fantastic!

Simon said on Fox 5 the other night that nobody is dragging these contestants into the audition room kicking and screaming. They chose to do this, they signed the release, and they know the risks. Simon is funny, witty, charming, sexy, smart, and GORGEOUS!! He IS American Idol, and I hope he keeps doing what he does. Simon keeps it real, and that's what separates Idol from your grandfather's warm and fuzzy talent search.

I don't understand which guy you're talking about. If it was the "you look like a bushbaby" guy, I don't think he has mental issues, unless you count delusion of thinking he can sing. If it was the pal, and you have a way to watch the show back, check it. Simon response was actually rather muted compared with his normal response.

I am a native of Silver Spring, Md where I attended Montgomery Blair High School and then George Washington University. I spent every summer of my youth in Ocean City at our families beach house. I got "salt in my viens" and decided that the beach life was more appealing than than life on 495...so I made the move permanent in 1992. The best of both worlds in my opinion, I live at the beach, but I am still firmly planted to my roots in the DC area. My brother lives in the city, and I visit often. My career is real estate, specifically Marylands Beautiful Eastern Shore, from the beaches of Ocean City to the rural appeal of Pocomoke and Snow Hill. This I enjoy due to the constant fluidity of the market and the people, and clients that I meet and continually interact with. I look forward to being a source of some valuable, some not so valuable information for any of you Fox5 fans, interested in the Lower Eastern Shore and Ocean City!Jay Wise website www.awisemove.net email me: jay@jaywise.net
