Working at Best Buy puts me in the middle of the Wii madness...and yes it's still madness. Everyday I alone get about 10 calls asking if we have it in. We surprisingly got some wii remotes in most likely they are sold out by now though. Customers like to complain to employees about not putting the merchandise out but in honesty we don't have control over it. Nintendo does. They are the ones holding Wii's.
Knowledge for the people looking for Wii's: At least at my store, and pretty much all the stores I'm sure, when we do get Wii's in they will be in the Sunday ad. You can look at the sunday ad on bestbuy.com I believe on Saturday. The few times we have had Wii's we put them out on Sunday's and they have been in the ad. They don't last long so getting in line before the store opens would be wise. I know during the Christmas season people got in line two days or so before we put them out I'm not sure how the lines are now-a-days.
It's funny we got a lot of PS3's in this week and they are still on the shelf. Not a hot thing I guess, or just to expensive. It takes about a good week or so for them to sell out. I do get the "do you have PS3?" phone calls every now and then. The people are of course excited to find out we do.
In the end though I don't see whats so great about a Wii or a PS3. Granted the test PS3 we have in the store is always on but it likes to freeze up on us. I've seen my boyfriends little brother play the Wii and besides the sports games it just seems like every other gaming system where you sit in the chair and play the game.
