Even though nothing has been finalized, there are discussions about closing the military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  As you are probably aware there are foreign detainees being held at the prison.  My first thought when I heard this is, they can’t put these people back in their own country. There’s a great possibility that we’ll lose more US troops by this action.  I don’t think that we can readily release them to other countries because somehow or another they’ll probably end up back in Iraq. 

If they close that prison, what do you think they should do with the detainees?

Frankly, I don't understand why we can't sentence them all to death and get it over with? How much longer we have to feed them, keep them healthy and clean? Keep in mind, most of them are masterminds of several terror attacks that killed innocent people. These are thugs with people's blood on their hands, they hate America, its citizens and despise our way of life.

So someone please tell me, why shouldn't our tax money go towards something better than keeping these thugs alive?

Gino1979: this country believes in justice. our ways of pursuing it may be outdated, be its what we believe in. criminals, even terrorist, have to go through trials and appeals and all that crap before they are executed. its unfortunate, but thats why tax payer dollars have to take care of them.
also, in my opinion,Guantanamo Bay should not be closed. we don,t have many options in terms of where to send the prisoners. but if it has to close down, i say we send them to some prison in Europe. its the most unlikely place for a prison break and if they do break out it won,t hurt us much. unless the get back to the middle east. which is unlikely in Europe.

What is so special about Europe? You actually think if we send them to there and they break out, it won't hurt us? We've been interrogating them for years. Do you think they'll forgive and forget? They'll do whatever it takes to get back on US soil and do what they have to do. Being criminals are all they know.

Keep in mind that they can buy a dozens of idiots on the streets to do their dirty works. They are all paid for life.

i guess your right but to answer your question i chose Europe because:
Asia: their friends will attempt rescues.
Africa: Same as Asia.
South America: it would be easy to find someone to pay to smuggle you into the U.S.
Australia: i dought we have prisons over there.
USA and Canada: to close to us.
that leaves Europe.

They will not close the prison,and should not.These so called detainee's are proven terrorist and enemies of the nation.Execute them or let them rot thats all they deserve.They don't recognize the Geneva Convention or any other international code of justice.These people are committed to one course of action for life,to kill Americans.We cannot coddle or treat them with civility for they see this as a weakness of a democratic way of life.Fight fire with fire no mercy for the muslim scum EVER!

perhaps dropping them from airplanes into the ocean woulb be better? Our system of justice is broken! As long as judges legislate from the bench and use legal concepts from other countries - not adopted in the US - to decide cases along political alignments justice for the bad guys is questionable. I say, if caught on the battleground, and we have all the info we can get from them, then execution should follow. just because our shallow, guilt ridden(a form of brainwashing done by the left thru the media) populace has no stomach for the realities of survival doesn't mean we should abandon whats right. Hiding behind the Geneva convention is useless to an enemy who will lie to their enemies, so what value IS their word?
