No, with all the higher productivity of the workers wages have diminished by 2% in just the last year.  Add to that the exceptional, almost exponential increase in food and fuel prices.  This is how much the fat cats and this administration care about the people.  They hoard the profits.  Let the people suffer.  That's Republicanism.

It's called unregulated, US capitalism. Only in the US does one find so much unconscionable inequities and social injustice. Your assumptions are unfounded as is so often the case.

Yes, some people waste their money but some people have no money to waste and our system has to addess those issues and inequities. I know that you are unconcerned about the suffering of others but fortunately many people are concerned and we will address that after November.

Y3:
Tell me it isn't so. I thought you had more smarts than "if it were REGULATED it wouldn't be capitalism." FYI, "capitalism" has been regulated many times by our government and it didn't suddenly become socialism. Check it out. Get some clues.

Dog:
Nowhere have I made a case for lack of personal responsibility and hard work. So, calm down and stop manufacturing things that I never said or thought.

Evidently, you don't have clue if you don't recall that numerous early settlers to America died, e.g. Jamestown. So, is it your stand that if some people find themselves in a bind there should not be help for those people while they get back on their feet. You would let them die? That is your idea for government in 2008?? But you would help Smith Barney??

Speak ONLY for yourself, dog. You do not know me. So your facile categorization is inaccurate and inadequate. Judging is bad, especially when you don't know someone. That just shows ignorance. Let's keep it real.

I think that it is really exemplary what your friend did. Everything and everyone is not in the black or white category. I am not.

Oh, Y3, how little you know. Such self delusions.
"Economics isn't you strong suit either. IF a company can find cheaper, less complaining workers than those in the USA, whos fault is that? Would you rather the US adopt an isolationist agenda? Look in your history book (as IF you owned any) about what happens then."

Is it that difficult for you to be civil? so acrimonious, are you that miserable? Sad.

Your thoughts are off track with my subject: fairness and equity for US workers. I am not talking about overseas.. Pay attention.

Perhaps, the way you come across on this website (semi-ignorant bully) is the way your father treated you. That is regrettable. Also, that you have not done any work on your personality to overcome that and not repeat the same poor behavior is not good.

But I don't have a knee jerk reaction to government help when needed. Are you saying that you will give back your Soc. Sec. or Medicare? Did you give back your $300 rebate or are you for that?

I don't see anybody here rejecting Soc. Sec., Medicare, their rebate check, etc? So, is there a double standard here, hypocrisy??
