Actually, it is very unpatriotic to act and talk like we will  never raise taxes.  It is delusional and unreal to talk as though we can have a good society and wars abroad without taxes.  What kind of leader is that?

With a $53 trillion debt McCain's ads about Obama's raising taxes is unseemly, disengenuous and wholly uncivic-minded.  Let's face it, candidates either lie about what they are going to do re taxes or say very little.  But with a $53 trillion debt we will have to raise taxes, no matter who wins the election.  So, don't be conned by subterfuge and lies.

I respect a candidate who does not engage in scare tactics, especially when he knows that taxes will have to be raised.

"I guess you are new to planet earth?" Try to be mature.

Don't put words in my mouth. I definitely don't think that the President alone can raise taxes but to talk like it will not be a part of the package is dishonest and unpatriotic.

Some sectors of society will have to pay their fair share (Some haven't been.)and the corporations (Many haven't been.). It is unavoidable given the $53 trillion debt. Clinton has been widely hailed for his elimination of George H. Bush's debt that Clinton inherited and leaving a growing economy.

Living any longer with such a humongous debt is much worse than raising taxes in our economy. The irresponsibility must stop. It is wholly unfair to our children and grandchildren.

You have mentioned issues but you have not given any real examples of what Dems said that was fearmongering. Give some substance to your charges.

Burglife: Why do you think that throwing money at the problems of this nation will fix them?

Where did I say that throwing money at problems will fix them? Nowhere. Again, we have a $53 trillion and as I have already noted above we will have to tighten spending and raise taxes. It would be great if Congress would stop its corrupt pork and earmarks but who believes that that will happen??

Yes, Mountain,
When one debates you have to give the source of your data. You can't cop out by saying,"You are kidding, right?Who are you trying to fool? There's almost two years of my posts that contain hundreds,if not thousands,of instances of me pointing out fearmongering complete with exact quotes and discussions,etc,etc....I suggest you read them. Please do not try to fool others by simply claiming that I have or have not done something, hoping that the gullible will fall for it."

Perhaps, you are not familiar with real debating. In a real debate one does not give opinions or unfounded/unsubstantiated "data." It is incumbent on the person, you, who brings up such comments to substantiate them. You know as in a term/research paper. Otherwise, your "argumentation" is kids' stuff. furthermore, you don't tell others to go check it out. It is up to you.

Re stats from CDC please give the URL or site where I can find your stats as I have looked it up and not found what you have stated. If you can' do real debate then you are wasting our time.

Maybe this is an opinion place for you, My response. but that is not the case for the intelligent and intellectuals who are not interested in shooting the breeze as is opining but shooting the breeze AND making the case. Just giving opinions is kid stuff and when you start making charges as Mountain did that is more than giving an opinion. Therefore, you have to substantiate it.

Go to Editorials from the Sunday Post to read,"To Listen Is Taxing
New campaign ads distort, rather than enlighten." on how incorrect McCain's ads on Obama's taxes are.

Y3:
The WORLD waited for him (Clinton) to be gone and 'adults' put back in the WH."
This is not the first time that I have heard you talk incorrectly about what the rest of the world thinks. You are so out of touch with what the rest of the world thinks. Again where do you get that "fact" from?

Mountain wrote "when in fact CDC(who actually do keep up with stats)says that it's more like 172 killed per year by all firearms(including those killed by drug dealers and cops)."

The above is a quote from Mountain yet he gives absolutely NO substantiation for his 172 killed /yr. To the contrary the CDC document that he refers us to gives a much higher number than 172 for 2005. So, where does Mountain get his off the wall made up figures from?

Firearm—In 2005, 30,694 persons died from firearm injuries in the United States (Tables 18–20), accounting for 17.7 percent of all injury deaths in 2005. Firearm suicide and homicide, the two major component
causes, accounted for 55.4 percent (suicide) and 40.2 percent (homicide) of all firearm injury deaths in 2005. From 2004 to 2005, the age-adjusted death rate for firearm injuries increased by 2.0 percent from 10.0 deaths per 100,000 U.S. standard population to 10.2 (Tables 18–20). In 2005, males had a firearm-related age-adjusted death rate that was 6.8 times the rate for females, and the black population had a rate that was 2.2 times the rate for the white population.
The non-Hispanic white population had a rate that was 1.2 times the rate for the Hispanic population, and the non-Hispanic black population had a rate that was 2.6 times the rate for the Hispanic population (Tables 19 and 20).

So the data Mountain presents contradicts his own 172 killed/yr!!??

No, Mountain,

Telling me to get over myself is totally off the wall and indicative of how inept and incompetent you are here. You can't hack it so you start with ad hominems. This has nothing to do with captaining a debate team but does show that you cannot play with the big girls and boys. for the low IQ in the bunch they may be distracted with your nonsense but the intelligent ones (not you) get your game loud and clear.
Mountain:
Your website of CDC Vital Statistics shows many things but I don't see anywhere that "172 children are killed per year."
Just tell us where your number 172 killed is substantiated in that report, e.g. page?
Ad hominems and trying desperately to change the subject just shows you to be lacking and lame. STILL WAITING FOR SUBSTANTIATION OF YOUR STATEMENT.

well if there's anything I've learned here it's that poor milu sees himself as a towering intellectual and there's nothing anyone can say will make him feel more comfortable ...that's a fact I've viewed in this blog... lonely at the top is it milu? ...that's a joke, can't you take one man?

Y3:
"And then there is the administration's record outside of foreign policy. Bush 43 has surely been the most fiscally irresponsible president in American history, taking surpluses that equaled 2.5 percent of GDP and turning them into deficits that are 3 percent. This is a $4 trillion hit on the country's balance sheet. On the central issue of energy policy -- the greatest economic challenge and opportunity of our times -- Bush has been utterly obstructionist, recycling the self-serving arguments of industry lobbyists. On the whole, Bush's record remains one of failure and missed opportunities." Fareed Zakaria - Newsweek

obstructionist for sure, noott! ...Congress merely has to over ride his signatures and he loses ...Congress can be creative in the absence of the Executive office's, develop leglistation and send it on to the White House ...now if the Prez vetos it tell me what Congress can do about it ...very good milu, over ride the veto and the nation gets legislation it needs ....man you're a fast study milu ...now our only problem is how to get the Dems under Pelosi's leadership to use their majority power to get off their a=sses, quit whinin' like something is forbid 'em and do some work! ...what do ya think milu, sound like a good plan? ...well then how about you do your part to beg her and her fellow Dems to lead and others of us will do the same ...we don't need any of the same ole, same ole we've been given by the Congress of the last four years... I see where the greater failure lies, maybe you can yet see the light milu and help with the defeat of Obama...

Evidently, you have a problem seeing reality. While the Dems are far from perfect, and we do need to get rid of pork and earmarks (waste and corruption)the Dems are way ahead of the Reps in terms of good governance.

Who heads the scandal list?

In case, you didn't notice the House Dems did not have sufficient majority after 2006 to sail legislation through easily. I am always pushing our gov. leaders. so, yes, let's all of us get Congress to lead with ethics and for the common good (not special interests, e.g. corn ethanol).

It is apparent to me that Obama is the best bet for America to move forward and not stand still with vested interests that hold America back and corrupt it.

The Dems couldn't get what job done?? People are not mind readers. What are you talking about?? Write clearly. Your incoherent writing and your spelling errors show how poorly you would do making a logical case to your uncommitted.

sole? desuade? Try spell check. I just put up a message saluting something McCain has done.
You are wrong about heart and soul. But Obama is way ahead in terms of progressive solutions that work for America, not the same old policies.

Prove that anything, ANYTHING I have written. You will not be able to as I have written NOTHING that is arbitrary. Are you another talk is cheap guy like Mountaineer fan who couldn't step up to the plate when I asked for proof of what he was claiming. The great intellects of Myfoxdc.

I don't think he even knows what arbitrary really means.

I am waiting for you to prove that what I say is arbitrary.

No Mountain provided me NO data to substantiate any of the three claims he made. The CDC report he cited has no data corroborating his cited figure. Also, he said that the Democrats were fearmongering and again offered no data. The only thing he brought up was the Brady anti-handgun org. which is NOT the Democrats. Lame.

Excuses, excuses. Nothing but feeble excuses from you. What you can't keep up or chew bubble gum and walk at the same time. I am still waiting for any evidence of my being arbitrary. Still in the Gang that couldn't think straight."

Amazing - lots of talk but no evidence. another lightweight in the Gang that can't prove anything. Of course, they will try anything to deflect, obfuscate and change the subject. The intelligents will see this for what it is.
