KENSWIFES DAILY GRIND COFFEE HOUSE

by kenswife from BLOGGERSVILLE

Last Post 7 days, 2 hours Ago

Okay-I just have to post a picture of my "frog" cupcakes on here LOL!  My youngest grandson just turned 2y/o. He loves a show on NicJr. Called "Max and Ruby".  One of his fav. Max shows is about a frog.  Although the birthday theme was "John Deere", I just had to make some cupcakes for the children.  (with my daughters permission of course.)  I thought they turned out quite cute!!  It took my sons "fiance" and myself 1 1/2 hrs. to do 18 cupcakes.  I can't imagine what I would have done without her help!!

So what is/was your cutest "creation" for a childs party??  Cute cakes/cupcakes/party favors???  Please share!!

My best friend made a teddy bear cake for my baby shower in 97. She had taken a cake decorating class and was helping a friends mother with her cake business as a side job.

It was the first cake she did on her own.
It was also the very last.

Those are very, very good. I have no creative bone in my body. Patrick has never had a birthday party outside of just Jeff and I celebrating it with him.

Those are adorable! How did you make the ears? So cute. Share the recipe :)

My Mom, Grandmother and various Aunts always made really cute desserts over the years. I do a lot of decorations with pinata's or paper mache. Used to make these wonderful creations, fill them with loads of candy and small toy prizes. Always a big hit (no pun intended) with the kiddos. Crocheted various party favors for elaborate baby showers I've created over the years.

Also like to make the corsages (fresh flowers or silke), etc. My pictures got destroyed several years ago when my Mom's house was flooded. I had several albums of things she and I had worked on over the years. It was really a great portfolio showcasing the wide range of talent.

Thanks yawl!! I always did those kind of things with my children-I love it!!
You can make any kind of cupcakes you want!

Green Icing--green food coloring and white icing (that was easy huh?)

The eyes are BIG marshmallows cut in half (use kitchen scissors) and then cut in half again--at an angle--you'll see how to do it once you start cutting.

They eyeballs are chocolate chips-you press the pointed end of the chocolate chip into the marshmallow. THEN you "roll" the marshmallow in the green icing and stick it onto your alreay iced cupcake.

The mouth can be red licorice laces OR red icing. I couldn't find the red candy, so I had to make due with what I had and used a toothpick--it was HARD LOL!

And that's it LOL! The more we got going on the decorating them, the more "inventive" we got--and you will too.

UM--Sassy-my friend--got your glasses on LOL-them are eyes not ears LOL!! I know you are creative--we've shared alot of stuff lately.

Damali, they are fun, fun fun!1

PB-come on-YOU CAN DO IT!!

Mik-I LOVED making cakes for my kids when they were little-I always bought the "Wilton cake decorating kit". THey came with instructions, the pain and everything!!! The cutest I made was a clown-I think it took me all day to decorate and only 15mins. for everyone to devour it!

Damali-and you know what people say about "Terrible 2's"?? NOT my grandson LOL! He is PERFECT!!!! Atleast when he is around his "Gurmee" he's an angel.

hi kenswife! VERY CUTE!
i love decorating cakes too... i've done quite a few over the years, but recently i just don't have the time. truthfully, my husband talks me out of it, because #1 it takes up 3/4 of the day at least and #2 he says i get too stressed out over it. #1 true, #2 sometimes true.
but the cake i had the most fun with i did several years ago for my nephew who was into gymnastics at the time. it was a sheet cake and i used candy and icing to recreate all the gymnastic apparatuses. a shortbread cookie for the vault, candy sticks for the parallel bars and high bar... life savers for the rings. i don't think i was the prettiest cake i ever made, but it was the most fun!

Hey ANDREA!!! THanks for the compliment.

That was so sweet of you to make a cake for your nephew--and I'm sure he loved it!!

LOL-I'm the same way making the deocrative cakes etc. I do get stressed. Thankfully, I made the actual cupcakes the night before the party, so I just had to decorate the next day.

Can you believe Drake is 2y/o??? He was a baby the last time you saw him!!

i made "ugly cookies" this year.
it was sort of an accident on super bowl sunday. i had left over green sugar cookie dough to bake so i made one big cookie with granola and raisons and choco sprinkles on it. the sprinkles made it look like black maggots were on top.
and people not only ate it but wanted more.
so, ugly cookies are my thing.
hugzzz,
Rena

I am a mom of 3, grandmom of 2, married for 29yrs and I am a Tx. "transplant" originally from Alabama. I work for a physician which NOW takes up most of my days-so sad LOL! I'm not into blogging about politics--Ken keeps up with that information for me LOL! I LOVE talking about family, household tips, makeup/hair tips, and GOD! I think FOX26 has the best news "family" around-and yes to most of us they are just that "FAMILY"! Keep up the great work FOX-and can't wait to see more and more positive changes for the station (as long as nobody leaves-your bloggers will stay happy LOL!)
