I actually did a small blog about this last year. Please be very careful when you sign up at the end of December for a Medicare “plan”-”replacement”. PLEASE make sure of the following:
1) ARE your physicians on the plan? Call all of your physicians and ask their office staff!
2) Is the “replacement” insurance actually a legitimate plan??? How long have they been around? There are too many “fly by night” replacements--be careful!
3) Do you have to have to get a referral from your PCP (Primary Care Physician) to see a specialist?
4) Are you limited as to what hospital you can use? A lot of hospitals are not on the Medicare replacements--check into it!!
5) What is your deductible? Is it actually higher than the regular Medicare deductible?
Don’t be mislead by these plans. So many times, they are presented to you as “Medicare” or as a secondary insurance--they are not. Please read everything you are given and ask questions!! Not asking the right questions may cause you to get locked in to a plan that you will be unhappy with.
We see so much of this at the first of every year in a physicians office. A patient will present their Medicare card to us….we contact Medicare for verification of benefits and coverage…only to find out that the patient is actually on a Medicare HMO plan (Evercare, Tx. HealthSpring etc.) When trying to explain this to a patient, they do not understand the fact that they are not actually on Medicare--they signed up for a Medicare “replacement”.
Don’t get me wrong, some of these plans are great and have a lower cost. But do you really want to risk not being able to see your regular physicians, and have to start all over again on choosing a physician? Or better yet, have the insurance company chose a physician for you??
Please, please read all documents you are given. If you have a loved one that is considering getting on 1 of these plans, check out the plan for them. They are dealing with skilled sales people who know what to say in order to get another person on the “plan”. Be careful!!
If the plan offers prescription coverage, make SURE it will cover ALL of your meds. Some of them have HUGE prescription exclusions. You don’t want to pay more for a Rx then you did on your Medicare plan right?
I can not emphasize enough how important it is to thoroughly read the paperwork. It’s a binding contract and should be read over as such!!

I got this in an email and it was just tooooo good not to pass on, and alot of it is so true for this day and age. There's no time for fussing and arguing amongst ourselves!!
Letter From Jesus Christ, concerning His birthday celebration:
It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are
taking My name out of the season. Maybe you've forgotten that I wasn't
actually born during this time of the year. Although I do appreciate being remembered anytime.
How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your
own. I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My
birth just, GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Now, having said that let Me continue:
If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn't allow a scene
depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santa's and snowmen
and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn. If all My
followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such a scene on the
town square because there would be many of them all around town.
Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a holiday
tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made all trees. You can
& may remember Me anytime you see any tree. Decorate a grape vine if you wish: I actually spoke of that one in a teaching explaining who I am in relation to you & what each of our tasks is. If you have forgotten that
one, look up John 15: 1-8.
If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my
wish list. Choose something from it.
1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way
My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to
soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and lonely this time
of year. I know, they tell Me all the time.
2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don't have to know them
personally. They just need to know that someone cares about them.
3. Instead of writing George complaining about the wording on the cards his staff sent out this year, why don't you write and tell him that
you'll be praying for him and his family this year. Then follow up. It
will be nice hearing from you again.
4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can't afford and
they don't need, spend time with them. Tell them the story of My birth,
and why I came to live with you down here. Hold them in your arms and
remind them that I love them.
5. Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her.
6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take their own life this season because they feel so alone and hopeless? Since you
don't know who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile it could make the difference. Also, you might consider supporting the local Hot-Line: they talk with people like that every day.
7. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town calls the
holiday, be patient with the people who work there. Give them a warm
smile and a kind word. Even if they aren't allowed to wish you a "Merry
Christmas" that doesn't keep you from wishing them one. Then stop
shopping there on Sunday. If the store didn't make so much money on that day they'd close and let their employees spend the day at home with their families.
8. If you really want to make a difference, support a missionary,
especially one who takes My love & Good News to those who have never heard My name. You may already know someone like that.
9. Here's a good one. There are individuals & whole families in your
town who not only will have no "Christmas" tree, but neither will they
have any presents to give or receive. If you don't know them (and I
suspect you don't) buy some food & a few gifts & give them to the
Marines, the Salvation Army or some other charity which believes in Me & they will make the delivery for you.
10. Finally if you want to make a statement about your belief in and
loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian. Don't do things in secret
that you wouldn't do in My presence. Let people know by your actions
that you are one of mine. Just love Me & do what I have told you to do. I'll take care of all the rest. I'll help you. And do have a most blessed
Christmas with all those whom you love, and remember, I LOVE YOU!
Jesus

Baytown has recently had the new addition of several red light cameras LOL! I find myself almost coming to a stop at the GREEN light for the fear of it turning from YELLOW to RED in a split second!!! I know it’s not safe LOL--but I don’t want my picture taken on this kind of camera LOL!
So do you find yourself doing the same?? Or do you come to a “rolling stop”? Have YOU ever been ticketed due to your “picture” being taken at one of those red lights??? C’mon…..fess up LOL!!!

One of our beloved cats, "Ginny" passed away this morning. She was 12 y/o, and has been in the hospital since Monday. We had high hopes on bringing her home today (10/23/08)--her vet had told use she could come home today, but we would be feeding her through a syringe. We were fine with that--whatever it would take.
Ginger lived a good life. She was like a dog as far as being "house trained". She was too "dainty" for a litter box LOL-she would sit at the front door-staring at it until we let her out to "do her business"--then we would let her back in. She had her favorite tree in our front yard, and if she was outside, you would find her laying on her tree branch.
Some people think cats are not smart animals-but they are--we have 3 (2 now). Ginger came to use when we called her name. She loved her Daddy--she was always in his lap. Ginny LOVED men LOL! Anytime any of my sons friends came over, she would jump right into their laps--but women--she was quite the opposite LOL! If you drove up to my home, and Ginny was outside, she would run up to your car to greet you. She knew my car LOL....when she was outside, and I came home, she would run to the front door--hoping I would feed her!!
I wanted to thank all of you for the kind and encouraging words.

It appears that Fox 26 has a news anchor that is now a HERO!! Jose Grinan pulled a female out of a burning car on Hwy. 288 Sunday. There just aren’t too many good Samaritans that would basically lay their life on the line to save another human being.
Just wanted to say THANKS JOSE!!! What you did is very commendable and noteworthy. This was a very kind and unselfish deed which will not go unnoticed.
I hope you were not injured during the rescue. God Bless YOU Jose!!!

Okay-I just have to post a picture of my "frog" cupcakes on here LOL! My youngest grandson just turned 2y/o. He loves a show on NicJr. Called "Max and Ruby". One of his fav. Max shows is about a frog. Although the birthday theme was "John Deere", I just had to make some cupcakes for the children. (with my daughters permission of course.) I thought they turned out quite cute!! It took my sons "fiance" and myself 1 1/2 hrs. to do 18 cupcakes. I can't imagine what I would have done without her help!!
So what is/was your cutest "creation" for a childs party?? Cute cakes/cupcakes/party favors??? Please share!!

Not sure if it’s because I’m off work right now and able to watch T.V. more-but I seem to notice more women wearing glasses? Are glasses a new “fashion” statement of sorts?
I wear the bi-focal contacts during the day at work, but as soon as I get home, the contacts come off and glasses go on!! I see a little better through my glasses for some reason--but I have a very, very outdated glasses frame AND the lenses are super thick-coca cola bottle thick LOL!
I can remember the name calling because of having such thick lenses in my glasses--4 eyes etc. So-there was a time when glasses weren’t “cool”!
So how ‘bout you? Do you wear contacts, glasses, both or neither. Do you see glasses as a “fashion statement” in this era? OR-have you had some type of vision correction surgery? If so-I’d LOVE to hear from you!! I’ve heard too many “bad” stories about the vision surgeries-I need to hear some GOOD stories LOL!

Have you noticed how KIND everyone seems to be now?? Even while waiting in line EVERYWHERE-people are actually talking to one another---total strangers at that. The spirit in the air is almost like Christmas. We have gotten out and got to know our "new" neighbors etc. How 'bout you? What random kindness has been shown to you--or what random kindness have you done for someone???

Just wanted to remind everyone to be EXTRA CAREFUL when driving through subdivisions and school zones now. Children are back to school and the school buses are stopping to pick them up! AND don't forget to slow down in those school zones LOL!! I know that during the summer months we drive our normal 40-45mph-but when school starts, that speed limit goes down to 20mph!!!

Rainy Days and MONDAYS, Rainy Days and TUESDAYS and so on and so on and so on LOL!

What do you do on a Rainy Weekday? If you work outside the home-does it slow down your productivity? If you work at home-does it do the same? Does your "bones" ache when it's raining or GOING to rain?

Rain makes me sleepy, very, very sleepy-thus slowing down my whole body! I'd just love to curl up on the couch and have a movie day LOL!! Unfortunately, playing hooky just isn't going to work for me this week--too bad I know LOL! BUT-on the upside, my plants and lawn and home foundation are getting watered-and my poor car is getting washed every single day!!
How 'bout you-Whatcha gonna do???????????
