GMU/Manassas is anti-mom??

I've got a good female friend who is a swimming coach for a Northern Virginia team. She's also just had her second child.
Anyway, there was a sanctioned USA Swim event going on this past weekend, and my friend was breastfeeding her 4 month old daughter discreetly while she was on deck. One of the other coaches complained and they tried to make her go to the bathroom to breastfeed? WTF??? Do you eat in the bathroom? I sure don't!
People need to take the sticks out of their butts! The facility was the Freedom Center at GMU/Manassas. I was under the impression that Virginia law dictates no nursing mother be denied the right to nurse her child at any state owned or state controlled facility. Is that incorrect?
I am boiling mad this morning because the Washington Post did an article making Mona Shaw out to look like a hero. Who is Mona Shaw? The 75 year old woman who smashed up a Comcast office with a hammer because she was angry about the service.
I don't care how bad Comcast's service is. That was totally wrong! She's not a hero, she's a menace and needs to be locked up! The only reasons she got off so light are that she's 1.) old, 2.) female, and 3.) white. If I'd done what she did, my 40-year-old black male ass would either still be sitting in jail or be shot dead by the Manassas police.
LOCK MONA SHAW UP! And while you're at it, lock up the idiot at the Post who wrote the story, too. Racist no-journalistic-integrity-having idiot!!!!
Not that I have any great love for Comcast, because they suck, but why is this lady not sitting in jail?? I don't really give a flying crap that she's 80. If my black a$$ had done what she did, I'd be sitting in jail. She's twice as old as I am, she ought to know better. If Comcast was screwing her, she needed to get a lawyer involved.
Rape accusation 32 years later

The above is a link to the web site for Fox's affiliate TV station in Providence, RI. It's basically a story about how a woman claims now that she repressed memories of being raped by an acquaintance when they were both 16 (they're both 48 now).
The RI Attorney General has secured an indictment on the man, based on the woman's testimony. He's free on bail.
All I can say is WTF????? I seriously hope to God he is guilty, because 32 years later with no evidence means basically if he's innocent, he's still f***ed, because nothing quite washes off the stench of 'accused rapist'.
I feel sorry for everyone involved.
Politicizing VA Tech

Both sides of the gun control debate have weighed in on the VA Tech incident, and already there are screams of "How dare you politicize this! You should be ashamed!".
That's a load of crap. It's USING the victims to shut down debate based on feelings instead of reason and rationality.
The fact of the matter is, both the mental health system AND the political system failed here.
If Cho had gotten the help he needed, or been isolated, he might not have gone on this rampage. If faculty/staff who were CHP holders were allowed to have their weapons on campus, there might have been SOMEONE to stop Cho.
Our President is a hypocrite!

Isn't George W. the one who bitched about the Constitution being "just a goddamn piece of paper"?? Now all of a sudden when it comes time to give DC the vote he's all about the Constitution...
You can't have it both ways, George. Either you believe in democracy or you don't. Stop jerking us around!
I'm laying in bed right now watching the story about how the Red Cross and other organizations are crying out for blood donations. It really irritates me....and I have absolutely no sympathy.
Why, you may ask? Because of a stupid rule that anyone who lived in Western Europe for at least six months after 1990 can't give blood. I used to be a regular blood donor until then, and then the mad cow hysteria happened. Instead of taking intelligent steps, they just do a blanket ban.
Crying for blood donations? Too freaking bad, Red Cross, you shot yourselves in the foot. Especially in the DC area, where there is a metric crapload of Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen. Six or seven of every ten active duty soldiers you meet in the DC area will have been to Europe at least once......
I'm not suffering from BSE. If you aren't going to let me give blood, then I don't want to hear your pleas for blood. STFU!
Rep. Virgil Goode (R-Virginia) objected to newly elected Rep. Keith Ellison's use of a Koran for his swearing-in ceremony, saying it was against American values.
Not only is this incorrect, it's wrong. The CONSTITUTION is the repository of our national values, not the Bible. Part of that constitution is the freedom of religion. A person is able to worship as their own conscience guides them...
Further, Goode is an idiot. If you're taking an oath of office, shouldn't it be with a holy book that actually MEANS something TO YOU??? Ellison's not a Christian, he's a Muslim. Making him take the oath on a Bible is stupid.
There's a Buddhist rep who didn't use ANY book, and Goode was strangely silent about that. I smell a bigot. Of course, someone unknown was already kind enough to point that out for us... it seems some graffiti adorns the nameplate outside his offices in his district now....
Not the right way to go about it, at all, and I hope they catch the person and make them clean it up, but I can't say I disagree with the graffiti writer's sentiments...
Ok, I don't condone domestic violence AT ALL. Having said that, I can *understand* (not condone, understand...big difference) how someone could go off in the heat of the moment and hit their partner.
How the @$@#$ are you going to even come close to TRYING to explain having set your partner on FIRE...in front of the CHILDREN???????
That is NOT something that happens in the heat of the moment. That has to be a deliberate act, and that is one sick puppy. This one's not even original..he's a copycat. I hope he gets put away forever!!

Well, it's December, and the anti-gay marriage amendment passed. Not only can gays not get married, not only can they not have civil unions, but the EXISTING legal protections in place for them are now null and void.
A family that disowned a gay son can now, upon his death, step in and deny that gay son's partner any say over the final disposition of assets.... a picture of his partner even.
*sigh*
Teen arrested for raping his mother
Police: Teen admits to raping own mom to get revenge on brother
(Marshall County, GA-WAFF) October 27, 2006 - Police say a Marshall County,
Alabama, teen raped his mother to get revenge on his brother.
Police say 19-year-old Gary Helms, Jr., raped his 45-year-old mother this past
weekend at Willow Terrace Trailer Park on Doyle Drive in Albertville.
It's a twisted crime that police say Helms admits.
"From what we understand the rape stemmed from an argument between him and his
brother. And apparently they were arguing over a girlfriend. And the rape was
some sort of retaliation towards his brother," said Sgt. Jamie Smith of the
Albertville Police Department.
It was unusual retaliation on an unsuspecting victim.
Authorities say Helms' mother was apparently passed out drunk on the couch when
the rape started.
"During the attack she did come to and recognize her attacker. (Reporter: As
her son?) As her son," said Smith.
That's when, according to the police report, the mother "tried to get away, but
he held her down until he was finished."
"It's totally sick is what it is," said Smith.
Helms was arrested and charged with the 1st degree rape of his own mother.
Smith says it's hard to wrap your mind around.
"Shocked, shocked would be more a better way to describe it. That somebody
would dip to the lows to do something of this nature. It's just pretty much a
shock to the conscience of the general public," said Smith.
Helms is being held in the Marshall County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Ok, I never got rape in the first place, but what's the rationale for raping YOUR OWN MOTHER??? Are you THAT hard up? Is it that you don't want to stand in line when you go to hell?
Gatekeeper: Ticket please
You: Here you go. I raped my own mother.
Gatekeeper: Yes sir, we've got the VIP section for you
right this way....
Jesus said "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's, and unto God what is God's".
Secular marriage (recognized by a secular government) has nothing to do with religion, and everything to do with government that should be of ALL the people recognizing permanent relationships that people freely choose to enter into. Allowing gays to marry under the law does NOT force any particular church or religion to recognize it, no matter how much they claim it would.
The anti-gay marriage amendment is not about protecting heterosexual marriage. It's the most mean-spirited thing I've seen in a long time, and it WILL strip unmarried couples, both heterosexual and homosexual, of ANY existing legal rights they have. It shouldn't be part of Virginia's Bill of Rights because it's not about enumerating rights, it's about taking them away.
It's also a violation of what Jesus said: "Love one another". This isn't love.
Are you against secular gay marriage? Then I'll see you in hell, heathen!
