This is a story out of Philadelphia, but it should be getting national media coverage. I assume it's not because all parties are black, or there are no celebrities involved.

Andrea Kelly,39, is being charged with murder in the death of 14-year-old Danieal Kelly. It was in her Parkside house that Danieal's emaciated body was found. Danieal, who suffered from cerebral palsy, was reportedly kept in a dark room because her mother was embarrassed to take her outside. Danieal died two years ago of starvation while lying in her own feces, with flies buzzing around her mouth and maggot-infested bedsores ravaging her skeletal back.

These four have also been criminally charged in connection with Danieal's death: the now-fired DHS caseworkers Dana Poindexter and Laura Sommerer, and two people who worked at MultiEthnic - one of its founders, Mickal Kamuvaka, and Julius Murray. MultiEthnic was an outside agency that DHS assigned to handle Danieal's case.

Poindexter had allegedly failed to investigate at least five abuse or neglect complaints regarding Danieal and had kept a file on her family at the bottom of a box filled with food wrappers and unopened mail.

Now for the even more despicable part.

The media has done such a marvelous job of throwing the blame solely at the feet of DHS and MultiEthnic, that it has pulled the scum from the bottoms of the ocean - ambulance chasing lawyers.

The parents of the 14-year-old, Danieal Kelly, who face criminal charges in connection with her death, have now also filed a lawsuit against their criminal co-defendants, blaming them for the girl's demise.

The scumbag civil attorneys, Brian Mildenberg and Eric Zajac, who filed the civil suit, contended yesterday that it would be wrong to paint Daniel and Andrea Kelly as money-grubbers.

"The parents are not seeking any money from this," Mildenberg said. "The potential beneficiaries are the brothers and sisters and the parents, but the parents may be disqualified by a conviction or a civil finding of abandonment."

If a jury decides that the estate should get money, Orphans Court would decide who the beneficiaries would be, the attorneys said. They said that Daniel and Andrea Kelly had to be named as administrators of the estate because they are Danieal's parents. They also said that the parents were aware before they were criminally charged that they may not benefit from a civil suit, and they contend that the parents' main concern in the suit is the welfare of Danieal's siblings.

"The beneficiaries could be these kids [Danieal's siblings], and that could be a positive outcome," Mildenberg said.

The attorneys confirmed that they filed the complaint on Aug. 1 because of an approaching two-year federal statute-of-limitations deadline. Danieal died on Aug. 4, 2006, so the suit, which contains federal civil-rights claims, had to be filed within two years of that date.

The wrongful-death suit seeks more than $50,000 and names as defendants the city, DHS, MultiEthnic Behavioral Health, DPW, and the Commonwealth.

To add insult to injury, the 19-year-old brother, Troy Washington, the oldest of Danieal's 10 siblings(from 5 different men) has filed a lawsuit as well. It contends that Washington "has suffered substantial mental pain" from his sister's death.

Zajac said yesterday that Washington, who was 17 when his sister died, tried to kill himself afterward and was admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

"He viewed her dead body before she was removed by the Medical Examiner's Office," he said.

Does anybody else but me wonder, where the hell was he at when this poor girl was rotting away. Could he not have done something, WHEN SHE WAS ALIVE?

Is this what this world has become? Is it now allowable for a mother and father to profit from the death of a child? A death that they caused, no less.

I, for one, do not totally agree that it's DHS' fault. I place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the "mother" and sperm donor.

If we, as a society, are so hell bent on making a government agency responsible for the welfare of all children, should we not come up with some way to keep a mother, such as this animal, from having so many kids? Would that not be the humane thing to do? Can we not force them on birth control until they can prove to be fit parents? This animal had 10 kids. That's 10 kids, well 9 now, that will be fighting against extreme odds to become normal adults. The one thing on this earth that should be free, and mandatory, is birth control.

Don Imus is in the news, yet again, for a racial remark he made. This time it was about Adam(Pacman) Jones; the posterchild for the dirty side of the black race. Now this means we are going to be bombarded by the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons, condemning Imus as "having problems with Blacks" and for sterotyping the black race.

Now I do not agree with Don Imus for what he said. But here's my plea to the Black Race(I do not call you African Americans because you do not call me EuroAmerican). Don't pay attention to Don Imus, pay attention to what he said...the underlying meaning. Is what he said really so far off the mark? At least for what everybody sees on television, in newspapers and on police blotters all over the United States. There are more blacks in prison than any other race. Why is that? Don't tell me it's because blacks are being systematically targeted by cops. That's bull. We all know the justice system is a joke. Everybody gets away with something through the green-tinted blindfold of Lady Justice...ie...OJ Simpson, Leonard Little, Michael Jackson(okay I apologize for that one black people) and now R. Kelly.

Don't tell me its poverty either. I grew up in poverty. There are trailer parks and apartment complexes filled with whites and other races that do not commit the crime that black people are committing. Black people are given more opportunities than a white man that is poor.  Any job that receives any sort of federal funding is FORCED to hire a black person due to affirmative action(which is more racist than a KKK meeting). Blacks can go to any college they want on a minority scholarship. Whites can only go to a handful of Black colleges on minority scholarships. Get my point?

Black people need to start fixing their race, smacking the badseeds around that give the entire race a bad name.

Black people need to smack around the athletes such as Adam Jones for having their names in the paper instead of a Warrick Dunn who should be a role model for all.

Black people should smack around the idiot rappers who get their names in the paper for crimes instead of the black singers or rappers who do good work(I honestly couldn't think of one..sorry).

Black people should smack the media around for only showing the police blotters instead of the excellent black role models, such as Bill Cosby, Will Smith , Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Clarence Thomas and so many more.

Black people should smack around the Jerry Springer Show and the Maury Povich show for showing the worst side of the black race instead of having shows that show positive things that blacks do.

Black people should smack around their own kind that commit crime after crime, sit at home and pop out child after child.

Don't smack around Don Imus...he's an idiot, but he is just talking about what he sees. If we don't see the good...how can we comment on it.

I am not a parent but I am still disgusted by the story in the LA Times regarding the two women abusing their five year old child.

"The 5-year-old was hung by his hands and wrists from a door jam and beaten with some sort of leash or chain, police said. He was burned with cigarette butts and left to sit in his own urine and feces. His hands were held to a stove, according to Capt. Fabian Lizarraga, suffering injuries that may leave his hands permanently disfigured"

"Lizarraga alleges that the pair came up with a scheme to avoid detection. Blocks from the DCFS, police allege, Brown and Mathews dumped the boy with a transient.

"He was a complete stranger," the captain said. "They told him 'Watch him for us.' They said 'We'll be right back.' "

The thing that pisses me off is they got away with this for two years!!! Two years of abusing this kid and nobody noticed? How?

Why are people not beating down the jail doors to give some real justice to these animals. Maybe we need to be monitoring who is allowed to have children. If you need a license to drive a car, why not make people get a license before they have children? This is disgusting that nobody noticed this happening. Does anybody expect this poor kid to live anything close to a normal life? Its not fair to him; he didn't get to choose his mother.

Why is it that being healthy is so expensive? Why is it that being able to drive a hybrid car, that is supposedly better for the environment, is so expensive?

In my opinion, the health food craze is a con game. The hybrid car is a con game. Going "Green" is a con game. What better way to advertise? Just tell people that they are helping the environment by driving this ridiculous looking $30k car. Just tell people to buy the natural foods that run your weekly grocery bill up to $200.00.

If all of this stuff is so important, why is it all too expensive for poor or middle class people to afford it?

Why is it cheaper to buy Rocky Road ice cream instead of frozen yogurt?

Why is it cheaper to buy a gas guzzling Cadillac instead of a Toyota Hybrid?

Are we all suckers? Is it just easy advertising? Guilt us into spending too much money.

If you want to solve the gas crisis, make Hybrids cheaper(If they are actually more environmentally friendly). If you want to solve the healthcare crisis, let people be able to afford to eat healthy. There, problems solved.

Under a plea bargain, Holly Ashcraft will get 5 years of probation and spend no additional time in jail, her attorney says. The action ends a 3-year legal saga. A former USC architecture student accused of dumping her newborn baby in a trash bin near the campus pleaded no contest today to child endangerment.

Under a plea bargain, Holly Ashcraft will not spend any additional time in custody, according to her attorney, Mark Geragos. Instead, prosecutors agreed to two years' time served and five years' probation.
Is anybody else troubled by this story and the free pass she is receiving? Why is this not getting more airtime? This girl maliciously dumps her baby into a dumpster and she is getting time served? I am a white male but the racial element has seaped into my head. I'm wondering if she was not some lilly white miscreant, how much time would she have gotten. What if her name was Maria or Tenesha instead of Holly? "Adding to the mystery surrounding her case, Ashcraft also was investigated by police, but not arrested or charged, in April 2004 after she arrived at a Los Angeles hospital having just given birth but without a baby."
So evidently she is a serial dumper. She just has unprotected sex and when the consequences present themselves to her she finds the nearest dumpster and frees hersself of her mistake. Once again our hypocritical justice system rears its ugly head and spits in our faces. Yet nobody is fighting mad. All that comes out are good things about her... Wonder how many good things would come out if her name was not Holly? And she was Compton or Highland Park instead of Billings Montana?

Here's a story that I read in LA Daily News-scary.

"A civil jury has found a Burbank apartment owner and manager liable in the death of a former tenant because they hired a convicted felon and registered sex offender.
On Thursday, the Los Angeles Superior Court jury returned a $12 million verdict against Scott Villa Apartments L.P. and Francis Property Management Inc. for hiring Eriberto Rodriguez, 46, who worked as a maintenance man at the complex in the 1500 block of Scott Road, where Sharon Santos lived when she disappeared in 2004.
Santos, an analyst with Warner Bros., was raped and killed, then stuffed into the trunk of her car, which was abandoned in Chinatown. The Burbank Police Department continues to investigate the killing, and nobody has been arrested.
Previously, Rodriguez was convicted of sexual battery and being in possession of a firearm and residential burglary in another case at the same apartment complex in 2005.
He is currently serving a 12-year prison term in that case, said Larry Grassini, who represented Santos' mother, Edna, in the civil case."

My question is this: did I miss something? Eriberto Rodriquez DID NOT rape and kill Sharon Santos. So even if the apartment complex hired him, he didn't kill this lady so they should not have been sued.

Now for my problem. If you have served your time for your crime, which Rodriguez did then a business should be allowed to hire him. They are opening Pandora's Box. How do you think felons will ever become upstanding citizens if they don't get hired by companies and get a chance to re-enter society.

This is what's wrong with our stuck up society. We don't want to give people a second chance, unless it's one of us or one of our family members.

I moved here from Nashville about a year and a half ago. I am an aspiring writer. I currently write articles for SoCal Sports Hub, about the LA Dodgers. I also am working on a side project - an essay novel with stories that could only have happened to me. I am fascinated by how I can take a story or a blog and post it and see the many different opinions. I do come across as nasty sometimes to other people, but let me assure you I respect just about everybody's opinions.
