Don Imus is in the news, yet again, for a racial remark he made. This time it was about Adam(Pacman) Jones; the posterchild for the dirty side of the black race. Now this means we are going to be bombarded by the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons, condemning Imus as "having problems with Blacks" and for sterotyping the black race.

Now I do not agree with Don Imus for what he said. But here's my plea to the Black Race(I do not call you African Americans because you do not call me EuroAmerican). Don't pay attention to Don Imus, pay attention to what he said...the underlying meaning. Is what he said really so far off the mark? At least for what everybody sees on television, in newspapers and on police blotters all over the United States. There are more blacks in prison than any other race. Why is that? Don't tell me it's because blacks are being systematically targeted by cops. That's bull. We all know the justice system is a joke. Everybody gets away with something through the green-tinted blindfold of Lady Justice...ie...OJ Simpson, Leonard Little, Michael Jackson(okay I apologize for that one black people) and now R. Kelly.

Don't tell me its poverty either. I grew up in poverty. There are trailer parks and apartment complexes filled with whites and other races that do not commit the crime that black people are committing. Black people are given more opportunities than a white man that is poor.  Any job that receives any sort of federal funding is FORCED to hire a black person due to affirmative action(which is more racist than a KKK meeting). Blacks can go to any college they want on a minority scholarship. Whites can only go to a handful of Black colleges on minority scholarships. Get my point?

Black people need to start fixing their race, smacking the badseeds around that give the entire race a bad name.

Black people need to smack around the athletes such as Adam Jones for having their names in the paper instead of a Warrick Dunn who should be a role model for all.

Black people should smack around the idiot rappers who get their names in the paper for crimes instead of the black singers or rappers who do good work(I honestly couldn't think of one..sorry).

Black people should smack the media around for only showing the police blotters instead of the excellent black role models, such as Bill Cosby, Will Smith , Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Clarence Thomas and so many more.

Black people should smack around the Jerry Springer Show and the Maury Povich show for showing the worst side of the black race instead of having shows that show positive things that blacks do.

Black people should smack around their own kind that commit crime after crime, sit at home and pop out child after child.

Don't smack around Don Imus...he's an idiot, but he is just talking about what he sees. If we don't see the good...how can we comment on it.

They do not... that's news to me. My experience is they get caught alot less and it get publicized even less when they do. Got no stats on that but I doubt you can back up your position with any either.

OK so there's no discussion there... but I agree it's not 'systematic' but it is 'symptomatic' of the attitude that you are presenting. You don't like certain arguements not because they are 'wrong' but because the are 'bull'. Well.... bully for you.

"I do come across as nasty sometimes to other people, but let me assure you I respect just about everybody's opinions."

I don't respect opinions I respect facts but unfortunately it does us no good to pretend to know the facts about rather black perceptions is right or wrong. Your equating affirmative action to KKK is about as reasonable as equating lynch mobs in the 40's and 50's with Civil Rights Marchs in the 60's.

If you want your opinions to be respected then why not have a respectable opinion.

Oh... Don Imus...

Yeah... Dick Gregory came on and defended him on CNN. I think Imus explanation of his comments is plausible and doubt he meant to come off as racist as I doubt you do in this blog.

I just think your being a bit cliche' and patronizing is all.

Patronizing? By all means then, tell me how big the difference is between blacks in prison compared to whites. The best you can come up with is that whites do not get caught as much? That sounds a bit patronizing, don't you think? So are you saying whites are better at commiting crimes than blacks?

I think my comparing affirmative action to clan meetings is very accurate. They are being hired BECAUSE THEY ARE BLACK. That's not racist?

If you "respect facts" then prove me wrong. Prove that there are not more blacks committing crimes. As for facts: the numbers go anywhere from 41% to 55% of prisons consist of black people. So there's your facts

Ummm...huh? First if you are going to attempt to come across as smart, spell ARGUMENTS. Second, at least make sense. How are black men going to prison more than college symptomatic? Are you saying its our fault or theirs? If you are saying its theirs, then you are saying exactly what I'm saying.

What are you, a politician? You wrote a lot of words down, but yet said absolutely nothing.

Well... of course they're being hired because they are black. Even if they are qualified it would make no difference because someone forced to hire due to Affirmative Action will hire the least qualified black person they can just to make the arguement valid. Unless you're talking about the Army Air Corp who hired able bodied pilots who out flew other pilots enemy and friendly... but of course they were the exception.

No... sorry... heard it all before. There are numerous articles and studies that prove that legally speaking black juries are more conservative and impose longer harsher sentences on their own people. Or perhaps you think California is representative of the whole country?

No... if you really knew how your beloved role models talked when youre not around you'd be very... very suprised. Bury your head in the sand and pretend that racism does not exsist in a major way in this country.

Everybody has racism in them. How can we not when we are bombarded by stereotypes in television and the newspapers. But at least give me this much. Do you not think that blacks have ample opportunities to thrive in this country? Other races do? Even people from the Middle East, and nobody is sterotyped more than they are.

So you are so far gone, that you believe companies would actually sabotage their own companies just to make blacks look bad? Are you serious? Riddle me this then, how is it that every other race thrives in this country?

As I said in my post. There are PLENTY of excellent black role models. Everybody has a darkside, but don't you think that its better to show a positive black man instead of some gangbanger?

Do you really believe that white people want to keep black people down? I believe you are the one that has your head buried in the sand.

Is that seriously the best you can come up with? Do you know how they talk? Are you best buddies with Bill Cosby? Morgan Freeman?

"Riddle me this then, how is it that every other race thrives in this country?"

Indeed even african immigrant fare better than the ancestors of slave's... why? Well... suit cases and back accounts, cultural identities and strong family ties.

"...don't you think that its better to show a positive black man instead of some gangbanger?"

Well of course I do... until the KKK is having a government sanctioned rally in my town. Or like the time I was standing in formation and the First Sergeant said there would be a KKK meeting at 6pm just off post. (This happened in 1997 at a post in Kentucky)

Do you really believe that white people want to keep black people down?

No... of course I don't believe that. A clear majority don't but what I do believe is that by inaction like leaving extremist white organizations intact and disbanding the Black Panthers in record time this nation sent a clear message that you are continueing to send by default. You ask the question assuming two things... one is that I think of you as white which I don't and two you assume I am liberal and believe such and such away because I am black.

Please clearly note that you started this blog. Own up to the fact that you are giving advice to assumed conclusions about how "black" folks think as a whole.

My blog is not showing how I or "black people" think. Not at all. My point of the blog was to show what the image that's out there is of black people.

As for the Black Panthers. That all happened in the Sixtys when the majority of the country was still run by the good ole boy network of Klansmen.

The government goes after white power organizations as well. Its hard to disband loosely organized groups of teenagers. The White Power organizations have no power or influence anymore. The seperatist organizations are a little more scary but they are not White Power organizations.
So that debunks your theory.

Last but not least. I do not assume you are liberal. I do not think you assume I am white either. That doesn't even factor into the discussion in my opinion. We are two people with different opinions on the overall perception of the black race and how it got that way.

"We are two people with different opinions on the overall perception of the black race and how it got that way." - jayNgram

"I am a man of constant sorrow
I've seen trouble all my days..."

Never met a black man yet who didn't like that movie... it brings us all to the conclusion that our similarities far outweigh our differences.

Good blog by the way... I just take exception to it's tone and general blame placed on a segment of society for that segment of societies woe's. The sad truth of the matter is that the black race in the USA is not a race at all but a loose nit collection of disjointed and fragmented families with ties to no one country or cultural identity.

Suit cases and bank accounts seperate immigrants from ancestors of slaves whose family identities are now tied more to founding fathers who owned them then not. One of my immediate family sits on a state supreme court and traces his ancestory back to a founding father. For my part I'm glad I can't do that but that doesn't mean I don't like Jefferson. After all... thanks to him we all got to watch and George and Whezzy were "Moving on Up"

Anywho... more power to ya... looking forward to more or your blogs. "Iron sharpens Iron, so one man sharpens another."

Thank you for the comments. But I want you to know; I do not and did not blame black people for all the crime and other malfeasances...not at all. I blame the media more for fanning the flames of racism to sells newspapers, magazines and talk shows. There are many many black people that should be shown by the media but that wouldn't sell.

Okay jayngram you just took on a challenge.
I am glad that you do not call me African American because I do not know anything about Africa other than what I have read, heard about and see on television. Thank you. I would assume that you feel the same way; you probably do not know anything about Europe, other than reading, hearing and seeing what is on television. If I am wrong I apologize, but you get my point.

I do not know why everyone (many people) feel as though Blacks need a leader, I do not need anyone to take my hand and guide me, when I need some help I ask for it but I can make decisions pretty independently. Jackson is a very educated man and I admire older educated men, but I would not follow him. And Sharpton, I just can’t stand him. He is always looking for attention and then has the audacity to try and educated his people. Well where was he when I needed help with my tuition? Is he going to pay for me to get MY PhD? I don’t like O.J. because he thinks he is better than me because he has money and I don’t. Many people that are SOS (Stuck on Stupid) always bring up Michael Jackson and OJ Simpson cause those are your out lets and you can’t find too many more people to talk about. Well what about John Wayne Gacy, Jeffery Dahmner, Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, Ed Gein and quite a few others?

Don’t clump all Blacks together because I do not clump all Whites together. Ignorant is ignorant regardless of color. Racism is a form of prejudice which is a form of jealousy which comes from the fear of not knowing. We say, “all ….. ain’t Black, and all looks ain’t like

Pt. 2
In other words, do not go by the outward appearance go by the inward appearance. You can be pretty on the outside and ugly on the inside.

Did you know that the KKK was first formed by a bunch of ignorant poor Whites after the Civil War because they were jealous or disliked Blacks that were accomplishing more goals than many poor Whites? If not go do your research and do not base it all from internet sources.

You say that Blacks can go to any college they want on a minority scholarship. Whites can only go to a handful of Black colleges on minority scholarships. Get my point? No I do not get your point because there are more White colleges and Universities than there are Black colleges and universities, so the numbers do not add up. GET MY POINT?

Don Imus is an arrogant, and ignorant jackal (I am being nice) with no life and have insecurities within himself and has to lash out on what he feel is less than he is regardless to if they are Black, Latin, Asian, Women, Gay, or Different.

Many of us grew up in poverty and many of us do not commit any type of one particular crime more than another. Most of us grew up with commonsense, morals and values.
You said that Black people need to start fixing their race; well I think that White people need to stop reminding Black people of how an evil group of White people (not all) treated their ancestors and continues to do so today through people like you and Imus...
White people need to smack around their athletes for having their names in the paper for being pedophiles, child molesters and the one’s who give the B

the Blacks the drugs and steroids to use.
White people should smack around the idiot rappers who are White trying to be like the Black rappers who get their names in the paper for crimes instead of the black singers or rappers who do good work (I honestly couldn't think of one...sorry). White people should come up with their OWN IDEAS INSTEAD OF STEALING EVERYONE ELSE’S IDEAS. White people should smack the media around for glamorizing the negative images of minorities, especially with saying things such as “He was an African American Male or a Latin or Asian Male suspect. Oh, and by the way did you know that Blacks have more role models than just Bill Cosby, Will Smith, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, and Clarence Thomas? What about Elijah McCoy, Granville T. Woods, Lewis Latimer, Willard H. Bennett, Bessie Coleman, Annie Easley, Katherine G. Johnson, and Rufus Stokes just to name a few. I bet you did know that. Oh, I forgot, you don’t know about Blacks because you go by what you see and hear on the media. White people should smack around the Jerry Springer Show and the Maury Povich show for showing the worst side of every race instead of having shows that show positive things that everyone does. I moved here from Nashville about a year and a half ago. I am an aspiring writer. I currently write articles for SoCal Sports Hub, about the LA Dodgers. I also am working on a side project - an essay novel with stories that could only have happened to me. I am fascinated by how I can take a story or a blog and post it and see the many different opinions. I do come across as nasty sometimes to other people, but let me assure you I respect just about everybody's opinions.
