Another Memorial Day draws close and I reflect back on one Marine who influenced my life! His birthday is quite close to that day of remembrance (May 29th). He now resides in a hollowed place of honer with many other Marines,Navy,Army,Air force men and women who deserve the highest respect,and all of our thanks. When I go to visit him and I look at the seemingly endless rows of granite markers that utter just a few words about who lay there,I sometimes get overwhelmed with grief and pride! Our fathers,brothers,sisters and countrymen who are now silent! But NEVER Forgotten! I salute all veterens from the days of Washington to the new honored dead of Iraq and say thank You for your service! Even though I am an ex-sailor I have to say Semper Fi to one Marine my father,who I still miss everyday! May god rest all of their souls in peace!

Semper Fi! jadeddude

Both our Fathers are assigned to the Eternal Post.

“From the Halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country’s battles
On the land as on the sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marine.

Our flag’s unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev’ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job
The United States Marines

Here’s health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve;
In many a strife we’ve fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven’s scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.”

When a brother dies they say there is a marine heaven in which there are many of us. May god bless you and the family of this marine. Just remember you are never alone we do not leave jobs unfinished. So he is still watching over you, Semper Fi and beleive that he is in some good company and HAPPY VETERANS DAY to all that served.
