I'm blown away at the lack of due process and disregard for those peoples constitutional rights. 

Don't get me wrong, if those allegations are true, then the individuals should be prosecuted.... but they were all treated as a group, rounded up like jews and shipped off like it was 1937. 

There was no due process.... there were armored personnel carriers, police in battle dress uniforms with automatic weapons and overhead surveillance and reconnaissance.... not a social worker or Child Protective Services worker in sight....

All of this based upon a black lady (and Obama delegate from Colorado Springs) saying she was a 16 year old White girl in Texas who was being abused and was afraid of black people.

Protecting/rescuing the people was what you are complaining about? It's only aftrwe the fact that we find it to be a stupid SNOBama supporter. SHE will bear the brunt of the punishment. All the members can sue HER for causing all that. The police were reacting correctly to what they were told, and Past experience with religious knuckleheads is why they guns and armor.

Well, guys, by the very nature of a polygamy compound, a state has violation of state laws and possibly federal laws. Remember that Jim Jones took all his victims to Guyana to kill them...so, we are speaking of children as victims of criminal parents. Remember that witnesses have said the mothers all file for welfare and turn the money over to the men/leaders at the compound. Imagine how much state tax payers pay for the bustard who sires 100 children by women he calls "wives"....and some of those wives are as young as 13 years old. Women who have escaped that lifestyle has witnessed 50 year old men forcing 13 year old girls to marry them...illegal marriages, of course...which is RAPE in any sense of the word. NOPE...polygamists have broken the law for too long as it is...they should lose those children to the state for protection and education...and the adults be prosecuted. The compound? The state should take it to put toward expenses of the children and courts to prosecute the criminals.

…as far as I'm concerned they can have a party every weekend and each Wednesday satisfying their sexual libidos till their eyes burst, just give a child or youthful girl a chance to decide where and when and with who, once they become an adult!!! ...

...religion my a=ss!!! ...it's huge communal whore house masquerading as some kind of people of worthy values …the design of this outfit is to create children whose minds are so shaped and warped as to be incapable of ever functioning among the world outside the no man’s land surrounding the commune and they care less about making any constructive contributions to the world around them ...they're in their own little vacuum!! …I know there’s an especially uncomplimentary word for these women who claim to be mothers and I’d like to know why they haven’t been confronted for their irresponsibility as humans and adults …self sustaining my a=ss also …as it goes for the communes’ buildings, who manufactured the roofing, the lumber materials, the window units, the plumbing system equipment, the power system components, the vehicles and the fuel that powers them …for that matter the crude oil the manufacturing processes rely on …the list goes on but one thing’s certain, they sure as hell didn’t manufacture them or extract the raw materials any of these goods rely on for becoming’ a finished product !!!! …I fail to recognize they’re anywhere close to a self sustaining existence at all, just anxious to live off the labors and wealth of too many others then they can pretend to be!!!

I agree....but taking it all back to basics, polygamy is unlawful. For each marriage after the first one, the males should be put in jail for 10 years...and for each marriage to under 18 year old girls, they should get 20 years plus for rape. The women should be prosecuted for giving their under age girls up...procurement of underage girls for lewd, lascivious acts and rape..and prosecuted for the same number of years. If the state gets serious about prosecuting this nest of rattlers, maybe the remaining hundreds of thousands of polygamists who have sucked up tax money will decide to ditch their sorry lifestyles...no one will take state law enforcement and the judicial system if the state does not prosecute each and every one of them from beginning to end.

If the state can't use the property, every single building including the church should be blown to smithereens, thus leaving not one board standing. Every single time the criminals build it back, blow it up again...and every time a polygamist pops out a kid, take it away from them immediately and put in with an adopted parent who can and will protect that child. No more free rides for criminals who continue to break the law.

I tell you what....let me know when the cops start hauling away entire neighborhoods in DC because someone called and said there were drugs in that 'hood.

It doesn't happen. Why? Due process. Everyone has a right to be treated as an individual... what happened here was an automatic declaration of guilt by association.

If they have broken the law, they deserve to be punished... but they have the right to due process... meaning they have the right to be considered innocent in the eyes of the law until the individual is proven guilty.

Now, lets look a polygamy... what is the difference between a guy running around to two or three of his "baby mamas" houses, knocking boots, staying the night and moving on; and someone who moves all of his "baby mamas" into the same house? Not much in my opinion.

If underage marriage and sex occurred.... hell yeah, prosecute them... but there should be evidence concerning specific cases not lumping everyone into one basket.... that's due process my friend.... a right that was won from the blood of hundreds of thousands of American Soldiers.

Please don't be so quick to dismiss it, or only applying it where you see fit.

...so it goes for giving comfort and understanding to people like this who deny a kid an opportunity to develop their own independent mind on the broadest level possible... no kid in this subject would ever be able to function outside this lifestyle and even now those kids have a mountain of issues to make sense of toward becomin' an adult in the real world that exists ...no SOBin' adult gets a pass from me in what they've done to these kids for their own selfish, indulgent, simple minded ideology...are you tellin' me the right thing to have happened in the well being of these kids lives is to have continued ignoring their welfare and prospects for the future??? ...that there are no questions of the destructiveness or constructiveness of these people's defiance of the laws of their host nation…???

Y3Y3 - you are free to keep ignoring. Actually, everyone is. I don't blog for feedback or to achieve some sort of social conscience.

This group was made up of individuals. Individuals have rights, those rights must be respected.

If it is found that a law was broken, I'm all for prosecuting... no free pass from me. But dammit... show respect for the law and give the individuals due process.

The state of Texas does not recognize plural marriages, so chances are most did not have two or more marriage licenses issued from a state. The law in Texas says that a 16 year old can marry with the parent's consent... so why take all 437 who were under 18?

Free to keep ignoring what?? ...did I create an impression I have no respect for rights and the law??? …this group is a cult with doctrines and practices designed around providing youth a very narrow, limited life …girls groomed from a very early age to embrace submission and domination without having an opportunity to learn the alternatives that exist beyond the orbit of this group’s communal BS and boys have to accept a pretty narrow definition of the future they‘re entitled to …that’s child abuse pure and simple!!!! …I figure any kid, to greatest extent possible, has the right to acquire the broadest mind of intelligence they‘re capable of, the deepest appreciation of the arts they take an interest in and the free will to take up the vocation of their choice, where ever!!!! …that ain’t happenin’ and it’s only because of those who gave birth to them, who ever the hell they are …the adults of this following effectively nourish the youth to preserve their health so they can lead them into a preordained life these selfish b=astards are hell bent to force them to follow…

…some here have said authorities should’ve busted this cult’s a=sses sooner and removed the children, taking steps to see these kids experience a much broader opportunity toward their future and that looks to be very much to be the case as far as I’m concerned…

Again, if they are found guilty, they should be prosecuted - no free pass.

However, they should be treated as individuals and not prosecuted as a group.

I believe our disdain is the same, where we differ is the application of due process.

Police action was a result of a lie, which resulted in militaristic police action.

Sorry man... I see that as wrong. I believe everyone deserves a fair and proper investigation, trial whether that person be a hooker, mugger, drug dealer, rapist, murder or Mormon. I also believe that we have the right to face our accuser in court. The accuser at the moment is a liar.

Seems we have a several things at issue here now:
…should the forces of authority consider this episode in cult conflict a model of what not to repeat?
...do we try to put the parts back together and ignore the unlawful act(s) this cult insists on continuing???
...do we cast out of our minds the willful denial to these children-youths not of legal age, an opportunity to work toward the day they have broad choices of the life they prefer to follow ???
…should this cult be considered entitled to operate as a tax exempt organization???

…all these questions still sit there to be dealt with and we have to move ahead from where things are at now…either the cult will comply with the state’s law as it applies to polygamy or pay the piper for their lawless act…I feel if a decision is that the children be returned to the custody of I ain’t sure who conditions should be applied that allow close jurisdictional oversight [if one claims to be a parent let ’em prove it - if one claims they are a child’s guardian let ‘em establish that - if they can’t then it’s gonna have to be sorted out one way or another] …in my view the cult should be reconsidered as to whether they satisfy classification as a religion …purely my view but they should not be allowed to enjoy tax exempt privileges and a tax liability should be assessed - if they can’t pay up then like anyone else the assets that can be attributed to them should be seized …

I think there’s a long road ahead for this case and the cult should get it through their dumb a=ss heads the day has come when they can’t ignore the
