#10) Establish a bi-partisan clean energy plan to which the performance is measurable.

Putting clean energy as a top priority neglects the need for the survival of the auto industry and other fossil fuels. A better approach would be to put the scientific community on finding the true causes for climate change, and reacting accordingly. People have been against loud, pollution-causing vehicles since the invention of the steam engine . It is not financially sound, nor is it realistic to abandon fossil fuels immediately. However, the technology for alternative energies (solar, wind, etc.) has been around for decades. Encourage entrepreneurs to bring their products to the marketplace and discourage cronyism in government, and cleaner energy will prevail as the result of the free market--not government mandates.

#9) Establish a long-term national security with a catalyst based upon peace.

By hiring a cabinet full of pro-war Democrats (Biden, Clinton, Daschle, etc.) and by keeping on Robert Gates as Defense Secretary, this is a pipe dream of unrealized goals. What needs to be done is the Congress needs to assert that it, and not the President, is the body that declares war. We must stop policing the world and use our military only to fight insurrections and repel invasions, as provided for in the Constitution.

#8) Increase federal taxes on guns and ammunition.

What part of "The right to bear arms...shall not be infringed" do you not understand? Depriving free people of their right to defend themselves is a shortcut to tyranny and opprression. We can see countless examples in Washington, D.C. where people have died due to having no ability to defend themselves. We need to uphold the 2nd Amendment, not destroy it.

#7) He is already going to tax religious organizations that practice discriminatory hiring based upon religious freedoms. He should make college affordable to all Americans and levy heavy taxes on companies that unncessarily have disproportioned ethnic / racial compositions.

So, you want Obama to violate the 1st Amendment? What happened to a "non-establishment" of religion? Government should not play favorites among faith-based organizations. All organizations that take in income should be taxed at the same rate. To do otherwise is to play favorites. Your complaint about "discrimination" is unfounded. Freedom of religion means freedom to exclude members from employment who do not agree with the tenents of your religion. The government should not be forcing secularism upon religious institutions.

#6) Aggressively reform our "What's In It For Me" form of government (federal and state).

You do this by reducing the size of government. Everything you have suggested increases the size of government.

#5) Appoint judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal judiciary who share his views on TRUE justice.

This is achieved by appointing judges that will follow a strict, constructionist interpretation of the Constitution. The Constitution protects our rights. Judges who do not understand this will trample on the rights of people in order to expand the power of government. Judges should not be guided by ideology--they should be guided by the law. THIS IS TRUE JUSTICE.

#4) Via the State Department and Department of Justice, establish policy of domestic human and fundemental rights.

Again, this is achieved by ensuring the rights of all individuals are protected, and not putting the State and increasing the power of Government ahead of the rights of U.S. Citizens. Only the Constitution can do this. The various departments should be used by the President to enforce the Constitution, not to violate it.

#3) Order immediate withdrawal of our troops, if we convince all other Arabic countries to put pressure on extremists to cease ALL terrorist activity.

Obama has already committed to nothing sooner than 16 months. With a pro-war cabinet, it will probably be longer. Furthermore, Robert Gates is proposing sending more troops into Afghanistan, and they are eyeing opportunities to invade Pakistan. A withdrawal of troops under Obama is not on the horizon. There is only one reason for this, and that is he DOES NOT understand the Constitution. When our leaders understand that the military is to be used to DEFEND the nation, and not for pre-emptive wars, then we will have a chance. Obama is not the President to do this because his only interest is in power.

#2) Create standards and enforce federal oversight of state actions pertaining to social justice.

This again is completely wrong. The Federal Government should do everything it can to avoid infringing on the rights of the states. the 9th and 10th Amendments were designed to limit the Federal Government's gaining too much influence over the States. Today being "Bill of Rights Day" this is even more important. Most of our schools, hospitals, etc. are run by the State and Local governments. Too much interference by the Federal Government increases the costs for all these services, destroys efficiency, and creates teh same culture of cronyism and "What's in it for me," at the State level as we see in all the Federal Departments inWashington, D.C.

…and finally…

#1) Stimulate economic an balance the budget.. Create The New Deal II:

Again, you are living in a dream world, as Barack Obama is the last President who would be interested in balancing the budget. Did he do it as a Senator? Certainly not. What makes you think he will do it as president? Even if he did, what does that do to get our nation out of debt? A balanced budget only means you don't plan to spend more than you make. This is meaningless, as the government always spends more anyway, and because the interest we owe on the national debt is so great that we can never pay it off. Why don't people suggest that Obama should pay off the debt? THAT would be a place to start! As far as a second New Deal, you need to understand that the New Deal made the Great D

THAT would be a place to start! As far as a second New Deal, you need to understand that the New Deal made the Great Depression far worse than it was. It put many people to work doing nothing, and most of its programs were eliminated due to their ineffectiveness. Social Security and Medicare remain, but are the greatest sources of debt for our nation (more than $50 trillion owed because of them) and they will not be around for the next generation. Let's call the New Deal what it was: Government Welfare, which creates waste, fraud, and cronyism. This is exactly what we DO NOT NEED. Roosevelt was able to end the Depression by getting us into WWII. Obama does not have that option, as we are just leaving an unpopular war.

Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to discuss real solutions to these problems, but I disagree that Obama's plans will solve any of them. You can find out more about me and my platform of Freedom and Rights for All at www.darkenergypolitics.com.

Sincerely,

Robert Broadus

on the response concerning "States"

Prior to the Civil Rights Movement, many states lent a blind-eye to public lynching, abuse of discretionary judgement by local courts, and misguided VIGILANTE INJUSTICE.

On November 4, 2008, WE realized that our 400 years of human slavery and over 1500 lynching were not in vain. Brother, why do you think so many African-Americans were crying tears of joy when Barack Obama won. It is apparent that Robert Broadus's articulation of "HOPE" very is different from ours.

All seem like great ways to make our people weaker and our government stronger... Not exactly where I'd like to go.

I'm kind of confused as to which ideas are yours and/or if you're just pasting the ideas of others...

PS - go ahead and tax my ammo, I'll make it myself.

I appreciate congressional representatives making an attempt to put us on ice…
ICE:
Inform
Collaborate
Empower

Congress allowed regulations to be eased and controls removed during the Clinton administration. During the Bush Administration, scrupleless groups took advantage of regular folk like us. We know which Congressman is poised to become the next Speaker of the House. I reside in the 8th Congressional District of Maryland. The district encompasses Takoma Park as well as Silver Spring, two of the most eclectic, educated, and diverse cities in Maryland. Agreeably, many us articulate change differently. I believe that there exist a sense of urgency and legislative vigilance of the current Congress that is not aligned with the ideals and principles of the people. My viewpoint on real CHANGE demands adjustment in Policy, Procedure, and the ways we do business (foreign & domestic):

I am skeptical that our current congress is courageous enough to challenge the current stigmatism of constitutional muster in order to bring about real change. Bailouts and other incentives only foster kickbacks and scrupleless dealings.
