Okay... let's stir the pot here...

I was kickin' this around with one of our co-workers... so put on your g.m. hat and see if you skins fan like this deal:

a 3-team trade; with Carolina and Green Bay.

The Redskins get Favre. The Panthers get Jason Campbell. The Panthers give Green Bay a first or second round pick.

Essentially, the Skins merely swap QB's, and the Packers get what they want; a high draft pick for Favre, which comes from Carolina, and the Panthers get what they need, a young, strong armed QB.

Then, when Favre is REALLY done in two years, the Skins hand the reigns over to the guy Zorn loves, which is of course, Colt Brennan. After all, he's already under contract for 4 years.

Well?? Whattya think?  Makes sense to me!

Naw, I don't think we need an aging prima dona with attitude. If you really think he would be good for our Redskins, then give us a rebuttal to Wisdom Martin's blog on the same subject. I don't want a has-been; I want a young powerhouse who can lead the team for several years. Let the new coach try out a couple and then go with the one who works best with him and the team.

Gotta disagree Grandma.I've been a bit of a Packers fan for several years now sort of out of respect for some friends of mine who are hardcore cheese heads.I'm a Beavers fan for the same reason.A sympothy fan if you will.`Skins and Mountaineers first though.
Anyhow,I have really enjoyed watching Favre throw the ball. The man is one of the best.Notice I said is and not was. He's quick to think and is dead accurate with the ball.In fact Favre is the league's all-time leader in virtually every significant passing category including touchdowns with 442,completions at 5,377 plus attempts with 8,758 and yards at a total of 61,655.I believe he also tied for the second longest overtime touchdown pass ever at 88 yards. He is also ranked the 9th most important player in the NFL during the 20th century.
So the question is,for both you and Green Bay,is"you really wanna give that up even if it is for a short while"?Hell,if yer gonna find some young pups to train who better to have in your corner for them to emulate?
I've always been a champion of placing Collins over Campbell anyhow so now just go with Favre,Collins and Campbell.
Speaking of campbell I watched a game from 2003 last night on one of the college sports channels and the QB lineup was interesting.Eli Manning throwing for Ol' Miss and Jason Campbell throwing for Auburn.I nodded off so I didn't get to see who won.Good game though.

What are you smokin' Dave? Favre is highly unlikely to have another "career season" at his age, thus the 'Skins would be buying another pig-in-a-polk (a Danny Snyder thang)!

Also, the 'Skins talent won't support Favre the way GB did last year and he would have to learn a new system, usually a 1 to 2 year job! Naturally, the whole rest of the team will be in a "learning mode" for 2008 as well, which means another poor season.

I'm no fan of Snyder's or Zorn's but when you come up with hairbrained ideas like this AND Danny Boy hears them he might start thinking, always a task for him when it comes to sports talent, AND he might want to make it happen.

Keep your dangerous thoughts to yourself!!!!!

mountaineerfan; Favre also leads the league in interceptions. When you play as many games as Favre has you're bound to pile up statistics... another indication of him being way down the downhill side!

While I don't think Jason Campbell is anywhere near the quality of the QB he has been hyped up to be, I don't think Favre is the answer either.

I will repeat the same thing I have been saying the last few years - YOU CAN'T BUY A WINNING TEAM! Most winning teams are built from scratch with a mix of veteran players and unknowns that develop chemistry over time. Until Danny figures that out the Skins aren't going anywhere.

A perfect example of the success of this theory is the Caps. They went from being last in the league a few years ago to being a playoff team this years, and a serious cup contender for the upcoming season. It was a painfull process over the last few years to get to this point, but they now have the best chance in their history to bring the Cup to DC!

Not going to happen. Bret Favre exposed himself to be the crybaby, prima donna he has always been. People got sucked into the whole ''Aww Shucks'' atitude this guy put across for years and years. NOW we see the REAL man. Another clown into himself and ONLY himself. BUT bring him here. After we finish 7-9 or 6-10 and Zorn is shown the door to make way for Cowher, Favre can go with him.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Redskins and don't WANT them to end with a bad record this season but by bringing Zorn in, the writing's on the wall. One and done.

Fans remember who you are dealing with in Danny Snyder.

If he believes that he can "buy Favre" and if HE BELIEVES that is good for Washington, then he will try. I wouldn't count anything out of the equation until Favre future is decided at GB or another location. NOT that any of the above would be good for Washington!

By the way drerunner where is "alanta"?

cort1963 - just think if both "T"'s where left out ......

Like I said -forget about it! Favre wont be visiting the skin's locker room. Atlanta has a lot of cap room (with their former QB long gone) and it's,actually, where Favre played before going to the Packers. Minnesota is also serious and may even work with other teams(like the skins) to get Favre!

Bty, I like the skins , lived in D.C. for 10 years and loved Joe Gibbs. Hope the skins can get back to that competitive level they were in the 70s, & 80s .

You all can write what you want but remember i said this on July 20, 2008.

Zorn will be a great coach. It may take a few years. He will be very good this year. I think Skins go 10-6 this year and Campbell will come into his own. Just watch. This guy worked miracles with Hasselback. Look back about to when Hasselback was with Green Bay. He sucked. Everyone said he was not an NFL caliber QB. Every year he was under Zorn he got better with the exception of 2006 when he only played 12 games. Check it out for yourselves. http://www.nfl.com/players/matthasselbeck/careerstats?i

Hi everyone!! Dave Ross here, and I have been here, at WTTG, for a long, long time now. I came to DC in 1995, as a writer for our morning sportscasts, then I would field produce all of Tony Perkins' live shots. We had too much fun, and who knew years later Tony would return to Fox, and I'd still be here! Since then, I have moved on to become the Senior Sports Producer, and the host of Sports Breakfast. Working daily with the likes of Dave Feldman and Dave Benz always makes for a fun day at the office. I think it's fairly easy to see that I am a sports junkie, and I love a good debate. So needless to say, I will be sharing my opinion on the world of sports, and I look forward to hearing yours as well!
