Look, I get it. You pay your hard earned money to go to a game, you generally have the "right" to say and do what you want at a ballgame. But booing the President of the United States? As he gets introduced to throw out the first pitch? I think that's crossing the line.

And here's why: this is NOT a political arena. This is a sporting event. This tradition of the president throwing out the first pitch dates back to President Taft. From Commanders in Chief like FDR, to Eisenhower, to Kennedy, to Nixon, to Clinton and Bush, it is a time honored tradition.

Look, put your political affiliation aside when you come to the ballpark for a Nats opening game. No matter what side of the political spectrum you may reside, I always say this: even if you do not respect the man, respect the office. As a Marine, we were taught this from day one; respect the rank. And I always will.

I must say I was disappointed to hear the mixture of boos reign down at Nationals Park last night. It was a terrific and historic night, and there's a reason the President of the United States was ASKED to be there.

Next year, there will be a new president in the White House. No matter if it's Obama, Clinton, or McCain, I would hope that when the Commander in Chief throws out the first pitch next season, he or she is shown more respect than what happenend last night.

......the difference in the past fifty years as I see it Dave is measured by observing there were those of greater humility and dignity back then than there are today ...looks like we're forever stuck now with those who invoke the freedom of speech principal to create an awkward, uncomfortable moment at the expense of others ...less classless today is how it seems...

When I go to the ballpark, it never would occur to me or my child (he's 20) or my husband to boo the president of the united states. People in this country have lost the manners that I wish parents would restore to their children, no matter how old those children are. I am a democrat, but I would never allow my child to boo a president. If somehow we have developed a hatred of the man at the helm, silence can say more than the hostility and ill will of booing. Americans are not called "the ugly american" for no reason...we are arrogant and rude. We should turn that around and we can if each home in this country would teach their children manners that will take them far through the years.

The are booing Bush because they have been brainwashed by the lefty Bush Haters, all the liberal/socialist radio editorials by homeless fools(Pacifica-89.3,CNN, CBS and NPR are examples). Those clueless criminals in DC voted for Barry the Crackhead Felon!! The lack of intelligence and morality is the earmark of DC and everything they do. Consider the pathetic source.

Y3Y3...sugar...that's not why they are booing...they boo because the have no manners. You don't have to make up stuff to dislike Bush. I don't care for his presidency...but I have manners.

Maybe they were booing because it is one of the publics few chances to let him know how they feel about the poor job he has done. No lefty brainwashing is required...All you need to do is look at the facts!

Another, of many, reasons to boo him. The Columbia Free Trade Agreement.

The working class booed Mr. Big business and for good reason!

I voted for him both times...I believed his lies. I am a conservative and a realist.

Titles don't get you respect...Actions do! He got the response he deserved!

I saw the video of him singing about Chaney and Rove like it was a joke. The biggest insult to the troops was when he sung about looking for WMD's in the Oval Office. Or the photo of him lounging on a chair in his den next to a christmas tree while talking to the troops in Iraq.

All that plus many more of his moronic lies equals boos!

BBB007 - BLEEP are you talking about???

Try READING some recent history, and NOT listening to the liberal liars from CNN, CBS, Pacifica, etc.
Your spelling stinks as much as your idiot opinions.

You liberals are so easy to spot. you type out the same nonsense you hear on lib radio.

Dave:They should not have booed the president ever! You don't have to like the man or his politics, but he is the leader of the free world and as such should be treated with the utmost respect! This country has become so crass that finding anyone with manners or civility is like trying to win the lottery.1 in a million!

They booed him because he is a moron. Neither title nor position earn respect. Actions do.

Let's not forget that this incompetant fool left Osama bin Laden laughing his ass off at us while he went & took us into an elective war which has cost 4,000+ American lives and countless killed & wounded on both sides to say nothing of the monumental cost for which our granchildren will be paying. None of his reasons for going to war - not one, mind you - have panned out. There was no Hussein/Al Queda connection and no WMDs. At his behest, we invaded a soveriegn nation on the other side of the world which was no - repeat, absolutely no - threat to the United States...a conclusion reached by his own people.

Cronyism abounds. Do you really want me to get on the Halliburton-No-Bid-Contract-Award-bus?

On his watch, the feds completely screwed up the response to Katrina. New Orleans is still in shambles. So much for the false promise to make rebuilding the Big Easy America's number one priority.

This isn't a liberal vs. conservative discussion, folks and it isn't mindless Bush hating. Simply put, these are the facts.

Oh yeah, one other thing: This is the same guy who who fired (or at best, turned the other way while his Attorney General did the dirty work) nine (9) outstanding and highly commended federal prosecutors for purely political reasons. I'll concede supporting a political party in general because the party reflects ones' views, but how can anybody with a lick of sense earnestly support this idiot?

Y3Y3...You seem to have a hard time with reading comprehension. I explained why I felt the baseball fan's reaction was justified and instead of giving your explanation of why you disagree you start hurling insults. Big deal! I have seen your comments all over this site and your childish name calling is meaningless!

Anyway, going back to the REAL subject. Let me help you comprehend.

WHAT HAS THIS PRESIDENT DONE TO DRAW CHEERS?
CAN YOU ANSWER THAT LIKE AN ADULT?

Probably not but I will give it go anyway!

BTW...I said I voted for him twice! That would imply that I did not vote for liberals. Try staying on subject!

I boo him, I've taught my grandchildren to boo him. He is a coward, who spent little time "protecting" the skies of Texas from a Vietnamese air force attack and picked a vice president who got five deferments to stay out of Vietnam. His excuse? He had "other" things to do. He files over in his helicopter, maintaining his ignorance about what is going on down below him in the real cities. He has never gone to Andrews to meet any head of state, but now he wants to show some "special" connection to the Pope by meeting him at the airport and giving a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue. When he leaves next year, as he flies over my house going to Andrews, I will have a big "GOOD RIDDANCE" sign on my roof for him to see.

Hi everyone!! Dave Ross here, and I have been here, at WTTG, for a long, long time now. I came to DC in 1995, as a writer for our morning sportscasts, then I would field produce all of Tony Perkins' live shots. We had too much fun, and who knew years later Tony would return to Fox, and I'd still be here! Since then, I have moved on to become the Senior Sports Producer, and the host of Sports Breakfast. Working daily with the likes of Dave Feldman and Dave Benz always makes for a fun day at the office. I think it's fairly easy to see that I am a sports junkie, and I love a good debate. So needless to say, I will be sharing my opinion on the world of sports, and I look forward to hearing yours as well!
