First let's keep in our thoughts and prayers today with the family of Corporal Richard Findley.  Today is his viewing and the funeral is tomorrow.  He was a ten year veteran of the force. He was a married father of two.  If you have any thoughts to share with the family , I am asking our web department to creat a separate area for that.  I am concerned as this story continues that we need to remember that we have lost a police officer in the line of duty and I don't want that mixed in or confused with the talk and discussion ( which is heated ) over the Ronnie White situation.  Anybody for splitting up the blogs?

With that said .... here's the latest developments in this case today.

The investigation continues into the death of Corporal Richard Findley.. the state's atty general Glenn Ivey is heading that up .

Re; Ronnie White.... Sources tell us that all those guards that had contact with White have been questioned. Some have cooperated and others have not . All have attornies.

Another key piece of info could be that surveillance camera of the cell block .. it could reveal who last had access to White.

Claudia, HOW IN THE WORLD could Officer Findley NOT be brought up in the case of White?
There is absolutely no confusion about the discussion of that Cop killing career criminal.

Now I truly think you are fooling yourself!

Tomorrow I guess your blog will go to "was race a factor?" That is the next step right? I see they were setting that up on last nights news.

Initial reports from the press briefing stated NO CAMERA's were in that area. Which is it?

Claudia you continue to show your obvious bias in this matter. If Fox5 was a credible news outlet you would have been replaced long ago.

I love the title of the blog.
Shows exactly what reaction she wants!

All this talk from White's lawyer but the guards aren't allowed to consult with theirs first. Now they are hindering the case because of that.
Unfricking real!

I do understand that Cladia's bias is for the Police officer but I will say that you do not look at both sides of the story as a good reporter would. The police officers are not saints as we see in this case. If we let vigilante justice take over we are no better that the countries that are at war with thenselves.

Channel 5 is a racially biased news station but what station's not? All of our news stations place their own spin on the news as they report it.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? I guess that only apply to white people? Because every time a black person is portrayed on the suspect end of a crime they are guilty first.

Let a black person be the victim and a white person be the suspect it receives 5 minutes of coverage and is never reported about again. We never even find out the outcome of the investigation.

Reddog1 for all we know a black CO could have killed him it is more about the fact that PEOPLE that are not found guilty are being killed by the PEOPLE that are trained to treat us fairly!!every PERSON should have their day in court.

OF course the news did not tell you that the COP jumped on the hood of a moving car totally defying police protocol.

What do you think will happen to you if you jumped on the hood of a moving car???

babygirl

I have a release of the actual police report and Officer Findley DID not jump on the hood of that truck. He was approaching the truck from the from and the other officer was approaching from the rear with badges showing ordering the occupants to get out of the truck. White then INTENTIONALLY accelerated into Officer Findley and ran him over.

It also goes to show you have no comprehension of the bias of this reporter. It's not for the police officer, it's for the cop killer.

True we all should get our day in court, and the person responsible for White's death should be caught and brought to justice.

But don't confuse the Dept Of Corrections with the actual Police here.
The Dept Of Corrections employs people who fill out applications not recruiting them from the police dept. Case in point a DOC employee was found to be a gang members of the bloods and was caught smuggling in cell phones for his homies. One DOC employee was fired for having sex with the male inmates. The DOC is part of the court system not the police dept. GET THAT STRAIGHT!

Baby girl you better get another hit off whatever you are smoking because it is painfully obviously that Claudia is biased for the little hood rat.

People are innocent until proven guilty, White was killed by another individual who also had no respect for life. Just like White. I have no doubt White was guilty of the killing there are several witnesses fingering him as the driver.
So White was guilty just not on paper yet. Until evidence is shown that white was not the cop killer I stand with my perception of the facts!

If White didn't kill officer Findley then we still have a cop killer out on the street.

Babygirl you also stated:
"Let a black person be the victim and a white person be the suspect it receives 5 minutes of coverage and is never reported about again. We never even find out the outcome of the investigation."

You know as well as I do Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson wouldn't let that happen, let alone the entire Black community. It the perfect chance to rally and light the torches. But a Black kills a white and we get comments like "theys was stupids fors jumpings ons the hoods of thats truck". GIVE ME A BREAK

Sounds like you were there. Ever tried jumping on the hood of a full-sized pickup truck? It wasn't exactly moving....it had just run into a cruiser, bringing it to a stop. Again, everyone is losing focus. The murder of White is not about Findley. Findley was in the business of saving lives not taking them. He had 20 yrs in fire rescue because of his desire to serve and protect. Anyone who knew him, would've wanted his killer to have to face the family and all who loved Findley, in court. Mr. White needed to see how many lives he destroyed. But someone decided to play God and jury. The murder of White was not for Findley! For all we know, White had info he could've given up to plea down to a lesser sentence. Someone in his criminal life could've easily paid for a hit. Let's separate the stories.

I am saddened for the tragic loss and gross death that has been done to yet another police officer in PG County. We moved from that county 2 years ago due to the CRIME and VIOLENCE and how it has CHANGED. I lived there for 28 years and just could not take it any longer. The county is no longer safe to raise a family in and this incident proves it all over again on how the majority of the people are thinking in that county. This incident of the COP killer being broadcast over the media is overshadowing the terrible crime of loosing another police officer in PG County. It is such a tragic loss of a father, son, brother, husband, police officer, etc., who was trying to protect citizens from crimninals. If Ronnie White had been locked up for his previous criminal record, then he would not have been able to kill Officer Findley or any other law abiding citizen! He clearly had no respect for another persons life or any type of authority . PG County is not safe to live and raise a family in any longer, that is why so many people have moved. Our thoughts and prayers go to the Findley family!

I think Red Dog said it best:

Department of Corrections is NOT PG County Police!!!

Officer Findley was killed by suspect Ronnie White, who had the unfortunate experience of being killed by Department of Corrections.

My prayers go out to both families right now. But I will be honest, I feel for Findlays family much more. Its terrible to see such an asset to our community struck down in the prime of his life while doing a thankless job.

Now the NAACP is scheduled to to a press conference at 10 this morning about the death of Mr. White. Why? No suspect has been named, there is no need to spin this into a crime of race, which they will. Where was the NAACP press conferens when Mr. White killed the officer last week?

DCtune1, really, would you have expected any less? I am just surprised that Al and Jesse are not here with all of their ranting and raving.
The line, "For all we know, White had info he could've given up to plea down to a lesser sentence," by emsgirl, maybe closer to the truth than we will ever know.
I do not care who or what race the killer of White is, I just want them to find out WHO he / she is, and prosecute them to the max.

Unfortionately, i don't expect any less. I would just like, for once, someone in the media with a powerfull enough of a name, to stand up and say enough. This is not about race, let the full investigation play out. Give the FBI and Maryland State Police a chance to find out what happened, after all, they are the professionals.

RED-DOG1
Jul 2, 2008 | 7:50 AM babygirl, ONCE AGAIN

there were 2 police officers on the scene one approached from the front Findley and the other from the rear Scruggs.
They approached with badges showing in plain clothes telling the occupants to get out of the truck. White then intentionally accelerated towards Findley running him over.

Get your facts straight before you show more of your ignorance!

The Findley family lost a provider for them. the White family lost a burden on society.

Now my comment is that why is the only time you hear that there was a second officer there is when you stated because since this story broke on all channels I haven't heard 1 mention of their being 2 officers maybe you were the other officer and punked out and allowed your partner to approachj the stolen vech by himself or are you just another one of those punk pieces of puke from the depth of my bowles who helped kill a 19 year old before he had his day in court it's people like you and so many others on here that will have to answer to GOD I hope and pray that your shaded views aren't passed on to your children if you were even allowede to procreate

Be Blessed Red Neck oops I mean Red DOG

Geez Dingleberry... The "TWO OFFICERS" story was all over the news. Perhaps YOU have been listening to lies, cleverly crafted to keep you looking like a simp? Lefty radio is like that.

Y3Y3, some people ONLY read or see what they want to. Even I know there was two officers trying to stop and arrest White, and I refuse to watch the news, other than the weather, and that is also usually a joke.
And SweetStrawBeary, your line, "are you just another one of those punk pieces of puke from the depth of my bowles who helped kill a 19 year old before he had his day in court." What happened to Officer Findley's "day in court??"
At least HE was doing his job. And BTW, how in the hell do you deduce that RED-DOG1 helped, assisted, or aided in ANY way in White's death?? U-F-B!

BTW that is bowels, not bowles.

The Jail Officers choosing to speak with Attorneys first are smart. None of them need anything being twisted around. It happens all the time from minor to serious cases.
Supervisors get in trouble for Officers actions and the Supervisor does not even have to be there. The Supervisor can be 1000 miles away on vacation and get in trouble.
Look at the Goverment. When a worker does something wrong, everybody wants the head of the department to step down. Makes NO sense.

I joined WTTG Fox 5 in July 2006 as a reporter and fill-in anchor on Fox 5 Morning News. I have always wanted to be journalist for as long as I can remember. In fact, I got my first job in TV at the age of 15! I was the host of a show in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. I've been traveling all over the country working in TV news ever since. My experience is all over the map. I've worked in radio, TV, co-hosted specials on the Travel Channel, worked at MTV News in New York City and even was cast as a reporter (big stretch) in the movie "Runaway Jury" starring John Cusack, Jeremy Piven, Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman. My TV career has taken me to Mississippi; Little Rock, Arkansas; New Orleans, Louisiana; Milwaukee, Wisconsin and now here in DC. I'm sick of moving and so glad I've found a home in this beautiful region and at Fox 5. To find out more about me ..check out my bio on the "personalities" page.
