Odds are you've encountered someone(maybe lots of someones) who just can't put down that cell phone. It's a constant stream of calls and text messages. Do you think it's out of control? Do you worry that the younger generation is losing the skill to communicate face-to-face? We're talking about it tonight on Fox5 news at 10pm.

"Do you worry that the younger generation is losing the skill to communicate face-to-face?"

Yes and no. When you write something it's very sterile as opposed to speaking to a person face to face, which is more intimate. (That's why I think it's a cop out to break up with someone in a letter or on the phone! But I digress...) So writing something negative is "safer" than actually saying it to someone's face, because if you say it in person you have to deal with that person right there and then. This might lead to a decrease in face to face social skills and a more ruder and less compassionate society.

I do feel as though the use of cell phones and the accompanying text messaging is out of control. It's almost like an addiction. I'm sure you have all seen people leave work and the first thing they do is get on their cell phone. Or just ride the Metro and you'll see quite a few people on their cells..Or go to a restaurant and again, people on cell phones. I know when I go out to a restaurant, it's to have a meal, not talk on the phone..

Ok, I gotta say it. I think its rude, rude, rude to stand in the check out line gabbing away on your stupid cell phone. I hate those people who constantly gotta be jabbering away on their phone when their in the store anyway, but to stand in the check out line and do it, ugh. Worse when their actually at the register, and not paying attention. Shut the heck up and take care of your business in private, not in public. Man, what did this world do before cell phones?

At age 9 I decided I wanted to be a reporter and here I am. I've been at Fox5 for 8 years. Covering all kinds of news - investigations, features, you name it. I've had the privilege of meeting a lot of fascinating people. Many have been kind enough to share their stories with me. In the news business, every day is a new adventure!
