It seems as the employees ot the Veterans Administration really don't know their jobs as well as they should. I have been figthing the VA for the last three months for my pay. They have made my life a living hell. The surgery I had last year has not let me go back to work and the VA had done everything it could to denie my claims. During this time I had spoken to many of the rude and nasty reps you speak to when you call the 800 number. When you talk to someone you never get the same information from them. My file set in someones office for over six weeks and no one could tell me why. This past Friday I made another call to the info line and finally found someone who really wanted to help me.

The gentleman I spoke to was really bothered about what was going on, he listened to what I had to say and put me on hold. After a few minutes he came back and transferred me to a young lady that was more than helpful. Come to find out the issuses I was having, should not have ever been a issue. There should have been a time frame of thirteen months for recovery from the surgery I had. The finacial problems I was facing should have never been . This was somethings that the Veterans Administration had screwed up in their rush to micro manage what Veterans are given instead of what they have earned. The administration has to be held to higher stanadards, this young lady personally walked my file thru every stage that it took to get it approved. This person did more for me than my Senator's office or my letters to Mr. Gates himself and these people are in charge. When do veterans stop getting screwed? The Veterans Administration can hide behind their mistakes with nothing said and no penalties. This has to change and the burden of proof should be put on the VA not the veteran. Also the supervisors need to know the guidelines for each claim or go back to training. They felled again, but what will be done? We need a Veterans Bill Of Rights!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank You Lee And Gina two people who really care about Veterans and we need more like them. We would have a better system. This was a matter that was mishandled for months. But was taken care of in one day by someone that was just doing their jobs.

Blogging about this issue here is great. But if you really want the kudos to reach these people, please forward what you have written here to your Senator and whoever is the moron who is heading this dog and pony show also known as the Veterans Administration.

I am very happy you got the treatment you deserve. I am ashamed of how this country treats its vets.

Good luck and God Bless you for your service to this Country!

vet, luvmybroom gives some excellent adivce regarding the fact that you should contact your elected representatives and head of the Veterans Administration. I've read story after story (and know some vets personally who have received pathetic treatment). It is disgraceful the way this country treats so many of our veterans.

I've come to believe some employees are told to deny claims hoping to wear down veterans so they become discouraged and stop trying to claim what is due them.

If you don't mind, I'd like to copy your letter and incorporate it into a letter I will compose to my senator and representative. Is that okay?

Please know there are many who appreciate your service to this great nation. Bless you!

I honestly believe that in many cases a claim is denied because the administration hopes the vet will simply get fed up and quit.

tcfmva, that is a really nice thing you want to do ... I hope lostvet will give you the permission needed. Those 2 people who helped him deserve to be recognised.

Forward it to Bill O'Reilly too if you can ...

I have no problem with the letter being forwarded and they deserve the recognization they get. The young ladies name is Gina Julian and the youngman is Lee Toothaker. Please forward this letter to whom ever you would like too. Amazing people like this is what we as veterans need. Thanks for your comments and please feel free. Tcfmva you have that permission!!!!

Disabled Veteran, Father of two who enjoys sports and cooking. I am also interested in finding a way to provide aid to veterans that the Veterans Administration has driven to financial disaster (I am one).
