A defendant, 33-year-old Ricardo Walters, of Ft. Washington, has been sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison, for his part in a scheme to defraud the D.C. tax office out of nearly $50 million dollars. A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced him for possession of stolen property and money laundering.
Walters is the nephew of the scheme's alleged ringleader, Harriette Walters, a midlevel official in the city's tax office.
Prosecutors say she wrote fake property tax refund checks to shell firms controlled by relatives and friends or in the names of real, unsuspecting companies. They say the scandal cost the city at least $48 million over about two decades.
Ricardo Walters admitted depositing at least three fraudulent checks worth $1.2 million.
What about restitution???
I have yet to hear, see, or read anything about these thieves having to pay this money back, along with some very hefty fines. And ONLY 6 1/2 years for 50 million dollars??

Made it to 66 this year, and that was a feat in itself, if you know me. Still waiting to hear ANY action plan for removing illegal aliens from America, and everyone seems to be blowing smoke.
