Same story different year!

City officials said they are working to sort out pay discrepancies among young people in the DC summer job program.

Hundreds of participants in the city’s summer youth jobs program report they have either been underpaid or not paid at all. Uh, maybe the checks went throught the DC tax offices??

D.C. Department of Employment Services spokeswoman Donna Henry said 19,413 workers were paid two weeks ago, and about 13,390 were paid Friday. She said many people may have dropped out of the program in the time between. Ya THINK??

Henry said it is unclear what caused the payroll problems. She said some timesheets may have been entered late, incorrectly, or not at all. You don't suppose it could be attributed to GROSS INCOMPETENCE, do you? 

But they are going to get a new soccer complex to go with that new stadium. Lord above, you actually have kids that WANT TO WORK and stay out of trouble, and you screw them too!

You all know the three letters tha go here _ - _ - _!!!

This has been going on since I used to do the summer youth program back in '88. I've only experienced it one year and it was soooo annoying going back and forth that I just quit. Never went back since. I feel really bad for the kids that have to go through this program now. Not only do they have to deal with the delayed pay (if paid at all), they have a card that (Fox reported) would allow them to withdraw their money out of a liquor store?

This is BS!!!

We are in total agreement here BigSmooov.

Like I said above, you have kids that WANT to do the right thing, get a job, EARN some money, and year after year after year, DC still manages to put the proverbial shaft to them! And without the slightest bit of lubricant.

The mayor should be nailed for this problem. It should only take ONE skrue-up to replace the people managing this program. ANY adult that would accept a position in managing a summer youth jobs program should be of the highest caliber....because that is a leadership position. Each and every kid's future is formed from experiences learned as they grow...and that program should be one of the highest ethics and consideration for those young people in that program. How on earth will they EVER trust adults again?

You need to reference Y3Y3's blog that will explain the whole story. DC's government is full of incompetent, overpaid, non-caring individuals. Untill something is done I mean start at the head and kill the beast. The same results will happen. Pray for those that have to use the government on a regular basis. I say the family needs to stick together and raise theit children. I know that is a hard request but we are losing people and we need help. Charity begins at home, mothers and fathers raise your children!!!!

babylocs856, I understand, agree, and hear you loud and clear. It just seems that no matter who is in charge in DC, every year you have kids that want to do the right thing and they invariably seem to get the short end of the stick. And they end up short paid or no pay at all. When is somebody going to start kicking BLEEP, taking names, cleaning house, and start caring?

Made it to 66 this year, and that was a feat in itself, if you know me. Still waiting to hear ANY action plan for removing illegal aliens from America, and everyone seems to be blowing smoke.
