Hey Fellow Fox 5'ers!

Saturn and Mars will be at their closest tonight for the next 14 years! Be sure to peek in the west after sunset.

Enjoy!

Define "closest".Closest to Earth or to each other?I hope each other.Like I said I have no western view.I did get the chance to spot Mercury again this morning.Cloud cover and/or haze has been killing us out here.I can't even get a decent view of Jupiter. It's about three degrees below the tree tops.So near,so far.

Hi Mountaineerfan - you got it right...closest to each other in the sky.

We've been cloudy for days as well...dunno' if tonight will break clean in the west or not. Teaching class tonight anyway.

I will be reading your blog on the binos....obviously a labor of love AND highly detailed. Looking forward to it.

Glad you liked the bino article.Believe it or not I couldn't leave much out and feel better with it.I tried and failed.Beyond a certain point I just said "what tha hell" and just included everything I thougt was pertinent.
I also had a chance to view the Pleiades for the first time with the new binos this morning.Unfortunately it was fairly low in a quickly brightening sky.Still magnificent though and still one of my fave objects.Later as it rises higher I hope to see at least a hint of nebulousity.
