Worker Verification Requires employers seeking a license to operate to sign an affidavit affirming they will not hire unauthorized workers.

Reform Worker’s Compensation Law An employer who knowingly hires an unauthorized worker who is subsequently injured must pay all medical expenses

Note from Help Save Virginia: Martin Luther King Day Lobby Effort:  ANCIR (American Council for Immigration Reform) http://www.ancir.org is proposing that they get some buses to take people down to Richmond to lobby the General Assembly on January 21st  Chances are great that they'll approve this, but we need to make such an expense worthwhile by getting as many participants as possible.    We can get at least one bus in Fairfax/Prince William/Loudoun, and if we get a strong response from elsewhere we might be able to get a bus in Hampton Roads.  We think we can get funding for as many buses as we need from a variety of sources, but the key is to get the folks that would be on those buses.

Please pass the word on to all of your contacts that live in Virginia and want to see the above bills become reality.  If you live in the following areas and are not a member of HelpSaveVirginia, www.helpsavevirginia.com ,consider joining.

YEAH...WE NEED MORE LATINO'S..........

WASHINGTON -- D.C. police are investigating after an elderly couple was found tied up in the basement of their northwest Washington home on Wednesday morning.

Authorities were called to the home located in the 2300 block of 49th Street in Northwest on the edge of Battery-Kimball Park in the Palisades-Georgetown area at about 9:30 a.m. after a report of an assault.

An acquaintance who went by to do business with a member of the couple called police after seeing newspapers piled up on the door and hearing cries for help, News4's Jane Watrel reported.

Once at the scene, officers found a man and woman in their 80s tied up in the basement.

The man and woman suffered bumps and bruises and were taken to a local hospital. Their condition is good, police said.

Police said a Latino man, 5 feet 7 inches tall and armed with a handgun, gained entry to the house sometime after midnight, ransacked the home and tied up the couple.

Police said there hasn't been a crime in the neighborhood in more than 10 years. Neighbors said they are in shock.
