I know that most of you are smarter than this, but I got this alert from the Loudoun Police and it can't hurt to get the word out...
**************************************************
Loudoun County, Virginia- The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents to be wary of telephone calls and e-mails about the economic stimulus package.
The Loudoun Sheriff’s Office has learned that some county residents have received an e-mail claiming to be from the IRS. The e-mail states that you are qualified to receive the 2008 Economic Stimulus Refund. It then asks you to click on a link to fill out a form, apparently for direct deposit into the scammers bank account. There are no reports of victims of this scam in Loudoun County.
The e-mail, according to the IRS, appears to be an identity theft scheme to obtain recipients’ personal and financial information so the scammers can clean out the victims’ financial accounts. The IRS states taxpayers do not have to fill out a separate form to get a stimulus payment or have it directly deposited.
Remember the IRS will never call you to ask for your Social Security number or bank account information or an e-mail you to ask for Social Security or bank account information.
If you believe you were a victim of this scam, you are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

Many of the Latin American workers arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities at the exclusive Lansdowne Resort earlier this month have been released from custody, according to people who have spoken with several of those arrested.
Lisa Johnson-Firth is an attorney with Immigration and Human Rights Group LLC, representing five of the people detained on charges of possessing fraudulent immigration documents. She said April 18 that ICE released two of her clients and she was confident at least two more would be let go soon. Each, though, still faces deportation, she said.
She also was told that other Lansdowne workers were released, many with “no bond” requirements placed upon them, but she did not know how many.
ICE did not respond to repeated requests for comment.
Laura Valle, an advocate for the local immigrant community, said she has been providing translation services to three of the workers released by ICE.
They told her all but five of the 59 people arrested at Lansdowne have been let go. Those still under arrest, she was told, had been previously deported from the United States and had re-entered.
Johnson-Firth speculated one reason for the mass release is lack of room.
“ICE has no bed space,” she said.
Another reason, she added, is that at the time of the arrests, some may not have had their documentation with them.
“Later on, a family member might have produced a green card,” she added.
Before quickly directing a reporter to another office, one ICE spokesperson said there are “alternatives” to jail for some illegal immigrants. Subsequent calls to ICE to get the status of the workers were not returned.
ICE does acknowledge on its Web site, though, that due to limited bed space, it is forced to release some illegal immigrants on their own recognizance who do not pose a risk to the public.

Absolute Vodka produced an ad on a billboard and in a Mexican Magazine. It caters to the belief of many Mexicans that the land that was ceded to the US in 1848 rightfully belongs to Mexico. Many Mexicans with these beliefs have joined a "Reconquista" movement believing that California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada and parts of Colorado and New Mexico belongs to them and they want it back. So Absolute vodka's ad depicts a map where the map of North America is re-drawn with Mexico claiming much of this land. Here is the ad that Absolute put out:

ICE raided Landsdowne Resort near Leesburg yesterday! All together they arrested 59 people from El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Bolivia, Peru and Argentina. Apparently Lansdowne has been under investigation since July when ICE inspected I-9 forms and suspected that there were a lot of illegals there, mostly using fraudulent documents or stolen identity.
They released two women for "humanitarian" reasons...probably because they had some anchor babies that they needed to tend to. The article I read said that they will all be interviewed by ICE and offered Social Services so they can determine medical, sole-caregiver or other things that might give them humanitarian status and based on this ICE will decide whether they get humanitarian release. Otherwise all undocumented aliens will be fingerprinted and processed for deportation.
Landsdowne resort pulls in a lot of money with high priced hotel rooms, conference rooms, restaraunts, golf, spa pools and health club. And the greedy bastards hire illegals. They will whine and say that this is a job that Americans won't do but that is a lie, it is a job that many people near Loudoun, Citizens and Legal Immigrants alike would be happy to have if they were paid a decent wage. ICE SHOULD get rid of the 59 illegals (no humanitarian releases) but they really need to start putting a hurtin' on these SOB's that hire them too.

I think this is a good idea. Help Save Loudoun has started a new program called the Honest Business Network. They are going door to door and asking local businesses to sign a pledge that they will verify their employees status and only hire people who are in the US legally. Those businesses that sign will be featured on their website.
The program was featured on Channel 7 news recently and the clip can be found here: http://novatownhall.com/2008/03/29/honest-business-net
work-gaining-local-support/
If you are a business owner in Loudoun or know of a business that does it the legal way you can get a copy of the pledge or join online by going here: http://helpsaveloudoun.com/local_businesses.html
p>
One of the biggest things drawing these illegals to our country are the SOB's that hire them and more needs to be done to hold these businesses accountable and reward those that do it the right way.

Months after Prince William County began one of the country's strongest crackdowns on illegal immigrants, some officials and residents say illegals and other residents appear to be leaving.
Dave Whitlow, town manager of Dumfries, said officials started noticing the change a few months ago when they canvassed communities popular among Hispanic families and found roughly 165 residences vacant among 1,600 houses and townhouses.
"We are having many more leaving," Mr. Whitlow said. "It's been just the last few months."
In July, the Board of County Supervisors unanimously agreed to have the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency train six police officers and one resident for an Alien Crime Unit.
The detail began enforcement March 1 and is assisting officers, who have a suspect in a crime — including traffic offenses — and find probable cause that he or she is in the country illegally. Before then, officers were not authorized to make arrests for illegal immigration.
Board Chairman Corey A. Stewart said this week he was not surprised about signs that illegal immigrants were leaving.
"There's no question the police have had the effect," said Mr. Stewart, a Republican planning to run for lieutenant governor. "The message that we are sending is: 'If you are an illegal alien, you are not welcome in Prince William County.' Time sure will show illegal aliens are leaving the county."
Jason D. Grant, spokesman for the Prince William's Department of Economic Development, said the county has not seen signs of an economic downtown as a result of the crackdown, but officials, merchants and residents say changes are obvious.
Officials in Dumfries — a town of roughly 5,000 residents on the southern tip of Prince William — also said about 10 percent of housing units are for sale or in foreclosure.
"I think that's high," said Mr. Whitlow, adding most of the units are in communities of townhouses where Hispanics live. "Tax records here have many Hispanic surnames as home buyers. It's been a long time since we've seen an obvious vacancy rate like that."
Last week, county public schools spokesman Ken Blackstone told The Washington Times a recent check of the system's ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) program shows roughly 600 fewer students than on Sept. 30.
But he cautioned people about trying to "connect the dots" between the decrease in students and illegal immigrants leaving the county.
He said, for example, the ESOL program serves students who speak many different languages.
County police Chief Charlie T. Deane said Prince Williams was "at the forefront in this nation of enforcement ...of immigration issues."
He also said the department continues to receive complaints about the behavior of illegal immigrants and others who hang around day-labor sites waiting for work.
However, a day-laborer outside a 7-Eleven store in Woodbridge said Tuesday that fewer workers have been coming to sites since the resolution was passed.
"I don't like to stay way out here, but when you have no choice, you have to do it," said the 23-year-old man, who declined to give his name.
Sgt. Kim Chinn, a police spokeswoman, was unable to give the number of service calls the Alien Crime Unit has made in the two weeks since enforcement began. She said the department is still organizing and preparing the reports.
La Todos Supermarket, in Woodbridge, began feeling the impact last summer, said owner Carlos Castro, who established the business 18 years ago in the 14400 block of
Jefferson Davis Highway.
"It has diminished our customers," he said. "We have never had a downturn like this time around."
Mr. Castro said sales have decreased mostly in such non-essential goods as tools, hardware and kitchenware. However, he said sales of milk and other foods have remained about the same.
Mexicans Without Borders, among the groups that protested the resolution, agreed today that residents are leaving.
"The evidence is that since the resolution was passed, Latino residents are being driven out," spokeswoman Nancy Lydall said. "More devastating is the effect on the economy. In my neighborhood (Dale City), eight or nine houses are vacant. Ninety percent of the homes are Latino."
Among the concerns of Hispanic residents is that police will target them for driving violations and other crimes.
Chief Deane said the new enforcement is not aimed at Hispanics.
"We prohibit racial profiling," he said. "The primary core issue is to protect residents. We protect victims regardless of immigration."
There are no official numbers on illegal immigrants. But Hispanics are Prince William's largest minority group, accounting for 24.2 percent of the 346,790 residents.
Last year, about 250,000 illegal aliens were estimated to be living in Virginia, according to the Federation for American Immigration Reform.
Nationally, an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants are in the United States, and about 500,000 enter the country each year

Two country boys, Jim and Bob, were sitting at their favorite bar drinking beer.
Jim turned to Bob and said, "You know, I'm tarred of goin’ through life without havin’ me an education. Tomorrow I think I'll git on down to the community college and sign me up fer some classes."
Bob thought it was a good idea.
Eventually the two left the bar.
The next day, Jim went down to the college and met the Dean of Admissions, who signed him up for the four basic classes: Math, English, History, and Logic.
"Logic?" Jim says scratching his head. "What in tar nation is that that?"
The dean says, "I'll show you. Do you own a weed-eater?"
"Well, Yeah."
"Then logically speaking, because you own a weed-eater, I think that you would have a yard."
"That’s true I do have me a yard."
"I'm not done," the dean said. "Because you have a yard, I think logically that you would have a house."
"Yessiree, I do have me a house!"
"And because you have a house, I think that you might logically have a family."
" Well I’ll be! I do have a family."
"I'm not done yet. Because you have a family, then logically you must have a wife."
"Yes, I got go me an ole’ lady."
"And because you have a wife, then logic tells me you must be a heterosexual."
"I am a heterosexual. That's amazing - you were able to cipher all that just ‘cause I have a weed-eater."
Excited to take the class now, Jim shook the Dean's hand and left to go meet Bob at the bar.
He told Bob about his classes, how he's signed up for Math, English, History, and Logic.
"Logic?" Bob says, "What's that?"
Jim said, "I'll show you. Do you have a weed-eater?"
"Nope."
"Then yer gay."

A husband and wife came for counseling after 15 years of marriage.
When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate,
painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 15 years
they had been married.
She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness,
loneliness, feeling unloved and un-lovable, an entire laundry list of
un-met needs she had endured over the course of their marriage.
Finally, after allowing this to go on for what seemed like an endless
length of time, the tired-out therapist decided extreme measures were
in order. He got up, walked around the desk and, after asking the
wife to stand, embraced and kissed her passionately as her husband
watched with a raised eyebrow. The woman shut up and quietly sat down
as though in a daze.
The therapist turned to the husban d and said, "This, followed by some
serious love-making, is what your wife needs at least three times a
week. Can you do this?"
The husband was thoughtful for a moment and then replied, "Well..
I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays I
golf."

I heard on Washington Post Radio this morning that the bill approved by the house clearly allows illegals to get a tax rebate too. It says that anyone with a taxpayer ID number can get a rebate. If you are not aware, illegals get these ID #'s without a problem since legal status is never questioned by the IRS when applying for a TIN. And according to what they said on the radio, EVEN IF AN ILLEGAL HAS BEEN DEPORTED, THEY COULD STILL GET A REBATE CHECK!!!. Now tell me how a deported illegal sitting in their home country getting OUR tax money would "stimulate" OUR economy?!??!
I'm not done yet though. On top of that, this same House bill denies senior citizen Americans a tax rebate. And does not allow and extension on unemployment.
The Senate came up with a new bill that would eliminate this rebate to those with TIN's and allows seniors a rebate and now they will have to duke it out. I am not sure what kind of delay this will cause but the audacity of the house thinking that this BLEEP was going to fly just infuriates me!
Nothing is a done-deal yet, who knows how this whole rebate thing is going to pan out. If you care about this issue you should contact members of the House and the Senate and let them know that you don't want your hard-earned money being handed over to law breaking illegals.

MORRISTOWN, Tenn.- A 94-year-old man was found fatally beaten early Monday in a thicket of bushes, his left hand cut off, and three people were arrested in what might have been a botched robbery, authorities said.
Willie Lee Morgan, who was reported missing Saturday, "died a horrible death," Hamblen County Sheriff Esco Jarnigan said.
Two butcher knives and a left hand were found in one of the suspects' cars.
"This poor man was supposed to die peacefully on a front porch swing, not like this," Jarnigan said.

Darrell Nance, 22, was charged with murder and Jessica Lane, 23, was charged with accessory to murder. Brice Whaley, whose age was not immediately available, was charged as an accessory after the fact and abuse of a corpse.
Jarnigan said the suspects may have been trying to steal cash from Morgan's home or hold him for ransom as payback for money owed by some of Morgan's family members.
Nance and Lane are a couple with a criminal history of drug abuse, he said.
Whaley is accused of helping to dispose of the body afterward. He led authorities to the body in an industrial park about 40 miles northeast of Knoxville near this east Tennessee town.
The three suspects were in the Hamblen County jail awaiting bond hearings. A jail official said Monday afternoon she did not know whether they had attorneys.

We can get at least one bus in Fairfax/Prince William/Loudoun, and if we get a strong response from elsewhere we might be able to get a bus in Hampton Roads. We think we can get funding for as many buses as we need from a variety of sources, but the key is to get the folks that would be on those buses.

PHILADELPHIA - A small sign that asked customers to order in English at a famous cheesesteak shop was never meant to be offensive, the shop's owner testified Friday at a hearing to decide whether the policy was discriminatory.
Joe Vento, the owner of Geno's Steaks, defended his policy before the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations, which filed the discrimination complaint.
"This country is a melting pot, but what makes it work is the English language," Vento told the commission. "I'm not stupid. I would never put a sign out to hurt my business."
Vento posted two small signs in October 2005 at his shop in a diverse South Philadelphia neighborhood, telling customers, "This is AMERICA: WHEN ORDERING PLEASE 'SPEAK ENGLISH.'"
He said Friday that he posted the sign because of concerns over the debate on immigration reform and the increasing number of people from the area who could not order in English.
But he said he also wanted to keep the line moving at his busy store.
"The case should, without question, be dismissed," Vento attorney Shannon L. Goessling said. "There is a legitimate business purpose for this sign."
Paul M. Hummer, an attorney for the commission, testified earlier that the sign is not about political speech, but about "intimidation," and that it suggested business from certain individuals was not wanted.
Camille Charles, a sociology professor at the University of Pennsylvania, testified that Vento's signs harken back to the "Whites only" postings of the Jim Crow era.
"The signs give a feeling of being unwelcome and being excluded," Charles said.
No ruling is expected for at least two months, the three-member panel said.
