That makes it catchy? You know what I’m talking about. Certain songs have that ‘something’ that get them stuck in your head…whether you want it to or not.  Is it the talent of the band or singer? Is it because the chorus or hook is just THAT good? Is it because you secretly have a crush on someone in the band? I think that is the only reason I could stand the Spice Girls...Posh Spice. (Great now I am going to have 'Wannabe' in my head the rest of the day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFpu0ROaPLQ).

I have no idea what makes a song more memorable than another but I am not sure if any of my suggestions apply to the CATCHIEST song of ALL TIME…and over three million people agree. ‘Chocolate Rain’ is a youtube hit and this song has been in my head for about a week. I can’t stop singing it…it’s weirdly addicting. Now wait, before you check it out you need to know that this isn’t some great, elaborate piece of music. It’s a keyboard and a guy with a very…let’s say unique voice.

You need to see it. Where can you find the link? My5 of course! http://media.myfoxdc.com/my5/my5.html

What do you think makes a song so catchy that it gets stuck in your head?

Fellow blogger "Hatemachine" must have really had this one stuck in his head because he posted the words to it on one of my posts like seven times.I don't think I could ever get that song stuck in my head for long. That dude does sound like he should be singing "Rawhide" in some cheesy roadside bar though.
As for what get's a song stuck in your head that's a good question. One to which probably no answer exists. The last song I got stuck in my head was Lightning Crashes by Live.
Best way to get a song out of your head is to listen to the song.Once, many years ago,I turned on the radio just in time to hear the last 30 seconds or so of The Look by Roxette.Couldn't get that song to go away for nuthin' until I finally heard it again about six months later.
Now as for having a song stuck in the noodle just because I like it,well,a good drum beat will do it for me.Of course you gotta remember that my noodle has many thousands of songs in it so it's usually not too hard to switch "channels"......usually.

"Chocolate Rain" is incredibly catchy, and the singer has the most unusual voice I ever heard. He could be the next YouTube star to be signed to a major label.

I think it's the infectious hook of the melody that makes a song stick in your head. Sometimes though, it's a song that you love so much that it just stays with you every time you hear it. My favorite examples of this lately are "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol and "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse. These two songs are always welcome to take up residence in my head.:)
