While covering the morning traffic commute on, what I think was the Beltway,  SkyFox caught on camera a commuter driving down the shoulder for quite a distance to bypass traffic. At one point, the person came up on a section of the road where people merge onto the beltway and this person just kept going barely missing a car that was merging. SkyFox kept the camera on this car for quite awhile and in a follow-up traffic report, Allison Oakley said that they had reported this person's tag number to the state police. I'd be curious as to whether the state police followed up on this. Considering the number of reckless drivers out there, I think that whenever SkyFox comes across this, it should be broadcast just as it was this morning and have these people reported to the appropriate authorites

Melissa and beagle_buddy, AMEN!!!
Those drivers are only one click above the AH's that scream past you in the "Lane ends in 500 feet" lane, and then flip you off when you wont let them in. I realize they think they are "Spaacial" and faarrrr more important that the rest of us out there, and we are only hindering there commute.

Oh get this...I was doing my errands today. While driving on a winding 2 lane road, the jerk behind me was driving in the on-coming traffic lane, attempting to pass me. Mind you, there is no broken yellow line on this twisting 2 lane road for a good reason---it twists and turns every 1/8 to 1/4 mile.

People like that are the reason why we have horrible auto accidents on these roads. Then there is an uproar that the ROAD design is faulty when it's the morons driving on it who are faulty.

caffeinated-cow, and that moron you encountered, probably was legal, and had a valid license and insurance.

Like I said, some of these jerks think they are F A R above the rest of us, and you are in THEIR way. At least twice a day, and usually more than that,(some of) those idiots on their "BLEEP Rockets" go past my house so fast they are only a blur. I will say that the majority, although they are going faster than the posted speed limit of 40 mph, are not so reckless. Even if the police had radar set up they would never be able to catch them anyway.

There are many drivers out there who think the law does not apply to them! Use your imagination on which group I'm talking about, or just observe who the offenders are in the coming days. You will see a majority of one or two groups.

This excludes the riders of BLEEP rockets. They, of course, are in a world of their own and we are just in their way!

True, Starr, that the jerk had insurance and a driver's license, BUT it's jerks like that who get other people killed.

caffeinated-cow, more of those me, me, me types. we are just "stigmas" on THEIR roads, and usually in THEIR way.
I have never heard if the AH that caused those two people to get killed earlier this year, on 270, was ever caught. Probably not, and probably never will be.

You people would KILL anyone else in any other state....I cannot understand, after 3 YEARS in Maryland WHY it is SOOOOOOO IMPORTANT that you are the FIRST one to a red light??? Anyone have an answer??? When you are locked up for MURDER please let me know what was so important that you had to be at a RED LIGHT first, and when there was NO ONE behind me you had to pull out of a lot to beat me and everyone else??

I saw something similar on 70 somwhere near Frederick, MD on Labor Day. Holiday traffic would move pretty good then slow to a crawl from time to time and at one point I am in the right lane and traffic is not moving. All of a sudden an old beat up pickup truck with a spiderweb crack accross the windshield and a load of furniture in the bed came barreling up the shoulder. I shook my head in disgust but kept my cool. Soon the traffic picked up and when we got a little ways down, there was an overpass where I saw this fool again. He had obviously gotten as far as the overpass where there was not enough shoulder on the bridge for him to keep going and NOBODY would let him merge back in! I thouroughly enjoyed seeing his arms flailing and the clear anger because he was getting nowhere...man, he was pissed! I couldn't help myself and flipped him the bird and laughed & waved as I passed by.

faeriedusted, the jerk in my case had DC tags. And I've seen morons with Virginia tags do similar stupid things on Maryland roads. I say, if you can't drive properly, don't drive at all. And if you insist on driving badly, do it in your own state and leave mine alone!

Sam_in_DC, ah yes, the universal "salute" to AH's! Don't you just love it when things happen like that?

caffeinated-cow, sadly,they're everywhere.
