While covering the morning traffic commute on, what I think was the Beltway,  SkyFox caught on camera a commuter driving down the shoulder for quite a distance to bypass traffic. At one point, the person came up on a section of the road where people merge onto the beltway and this person just kept going barely missing a car that was merging. SkyFox kept the camera on this car for quite awhile and in a follow-up traffic report, Allison Oakley said that they had reported this person's tag number to the state police. I'd be curious as to whether the state police followed up on this. Considering the number of reckless drivers out there, I think that whenever SkyFox comes across this, it should be broadcast just as it was this morning and have these people reported to the appropriate authorites

Ugh, people like this really irritate me. Them and the ones who when merging, always have to go to the front of the line, even if the merge lane has ended. And what about those who use the TURN lanes to do the same thing? What is it with people like this that they seem to think their place of origin is more important then the others on the road? These people have no regard for their own safety, let alone for others on the road as well. I sure hope this person gets nice little ticket in the mail. But unfortunately, they most likely won't and will continue this aggressive behavior.

The sad thing about this is that I have also seen both County and State police do the same thing. Now that really burns me up. They go to the front of the line and even cross a solid white line to get in front of everyone else. I fight this battle every evening when I am trying to exit the Beltway at Exit 7. There's road construction there, which only adds to the confusion. After I sit in traffic for over a mile waiting to get off at that exit, you can bet I'm not too happy with people who try to cut in front of me. Of course, I'm not about to get my vehicle involved in an accident to keep them from cutting in, but my horn sure works good in those instances. (Makes me feel better anyway.)

You all need to get some sense... Police are allowed to go at speed safely to get to a call where lights and sirens have not yet been authorized. There are many situations where they are prohibited from using lights and sirens unless there is evidence of a life threatening situation. These seasoned officers know from experience that many of
these calls will often rise to a violent stage and try to get to the scene as
quickly as possible even if it calls for crossing a white line. You would want that for your family. As a rescue worker, I've also known of several cases where someone was having a heart attack or medical emergency and they were trying to get to the hospital but you law abiding citizens decided to take matters into your own hands and blocked then from passing you. Seriously. You need to get some common sense.

transcop, go to Exit 7A during rush hour traffic and see how many of these jerks you want to defend.
