We all have heard that the earlier you book an airline flight, the cheaper your ticket. But why?..What should it matter whether I call today for a trip next month or call the day before I leave?..It's not as though the process is different. You go online or call a travel agent and request a flight. They either have a seat or they don't. It's not as though if you call at the last minute, you're inconveniencing the airline. It's not as though they have to bring in an extra airplane from China,  call in extra flight attendants or pilots to accomodate your request. It just amazes me that you're penalized for requesting seats that are available anyway..Can anyone enlighten me on this?.

THANK YOU GOD!!!! SOMEONE SEE THIS IN THE SAME LIGHT AS I DO!!!

I would always think the same thing Melissa.

It's not like they have to PUT an extra seat on the plane when you call at the last minute.

airlines like to be organized. the later you book your flight, the more unorganized they will be. its better to have everything said and done a few days before the flight. but when you call in at the last minute they have to go back and check on available seats. which is an inconvience.
