The Economic Stimulus Check is in the mail.  The idea is that if you put money into the hands of people who need it, they'll spend it, and boost our economy.   Two thirds of our Gross Domestic Product is tied to consumer spending, and the government definitely wants you to spend it.  Now, I've heard some financial experts on TV... telling consumers to ignore the government's plan, and save the money.  The truth is, most of us, regardless of what we tell the pollsters... will end up spending it in one way or another.     Some of it will go to gas, some will go to groceries, and some will probably go to those little splurges that we feel we're owed while we stick it out through this downturn.   And even IF you use it to pay down credit card debt... economists say that just buys you some cushion to spend in the future.   What are your plans for the money?

I would suspect some of those poor souls who have had their electricity turned off will put the money toward the bill...or, perhaps, buy food for their children...you know...THAT kind of splurging.

It used to be that $600 would be considered a lot of money. Not anymore. I can spend that in months time if I'm lucky, on food and gas. I'll be putting on my credit cards. No SPLURGING on electronics or other nonsense I don't need. It's a matter of survival for myself.

I called to have our fuel tank (heating oil) filled. I aksed the individual on the phone about the possibility of the price coming down. His reply was a big laugh.

The tank took 287 gallons at the price of $3.70 per gallon. I figure, by the time we pay tax on our purchase, my husband and I can split about $85 (rough and dirty estimate). I'm not complaining. I'm thankful for the $1,200.

Where does it all end??

It ends when you "communitize" with communities you walk in, safely. No reason there can't be a wireless secure "community" network. I trivialized Hillary's reported "It Takes a Village". Two weeks ago I came googled to see if others are using this word. Then I realized that may be what Hillary is talking about. That's because at the National Democratic Conventionup with the word "communitize". Two days ago I that nominated Kerry, Bill Clinton said: "I'm against the tax cut. But if you vote for it, well, thanks for keeping me rich." I thought to myself, duh, can you imagine Kerry's wife saying that? LOL
