Can anyone explain why drilling offshore and in ANWR can not help, please provide REAL FACTS?
Had we started 10 years ago would we have been in this mess?
There is no doubt that America is addicted to Oil, Foreign Oil.
The ban on offshore drilling was placed back in 1981 to protect public beaches.
Do we have the technology for safer drilling? Is it now affordable?
We have had 20 plus years from the offshore drilling ban to research alternative energies.
Where is that catalytic converter rumored back in the 70’s that could get 100 MPG, hidden next to the Arc of the Covenant?
Solar, Nuclear, Wind Farms, Ethanol.
Who is holding back research for alternative energy programs? Big Oil Companies, Government owned or scared of Big Oil Companies, Environment Groups?
During World War II not only was gas rationed but many luxuries and food items as well.
Example:
Friday, April 23, 1943
GASOLINE - A, B and C coupons each are worth three gallons. T coupons are good for five gallons each. The A coupons numbered 5 must last through July 21, which is double the time of previous ration periods. B and C books bear own expiration dates.
SUGAR - Coupon No. 12 in War Ration Book 1 is good for five pounds, but this must last through May 31.
In today’s economic crisis and looming recession concerns is it possible to set aside one month out of the year to cut back gas usage? Are Americans of today willing or able to pull together as before? What are you willing to ration or give up for just one month to help out the country and economy?
Note: this is not about the War on Terror or War in Iraq in general, even though they are sure to be impacting all of us in some way or opinion. This is just a simple question to see what you may be willing to give to your country during a crisis.
Losing The American Neighborhood
In the last 2.5 years I have seen a growing trend destroying the typical American Neighborhood. I live in an area / cul-de-sac of 49 homes. In the last 2.5 years, 6 of the homes now have sold to multi-families. These houses are not equipped to hold up to 15 people. Each of the 6 homes immediately removed all landscaping features and parked several vehicles throughout the community. All have violated several HOA bi-laws and continue to ignore many complaints; Speeding cars, Loud Noise, and a general disrespect for all fellow neighbors as well as what seems to be a deliberate attempt to lower property value. This is by no means a rich or snobby area of Leesburg, just a once proud community where neighbors greeted each other with a smile and a wave.
All attempts to make welcome the new families have failed, many due to the language barrier and other failures attributive to the constant rotation of the persons actually living in the households. The financial institutes continue to provide loans to multi families and the realtors continue to sell single-family homes to multi families. The HOA can only enforce the bi-laws in the doctrine (Thank God). The Police will not ticket any noise complaints and only direct homeowners to file complaints with the local magistrates office. The local magistrates office tells us that we need evidence from the Police department. In the last 8 months the Police have been called 9 times with the Officer witnessing loud noise 3 times and not ticketing. The Police can only enforce the Noise Ordnance not the HOA, but the Police must catch them in the act, as well with the speeding cars. I urge all concerned Proud Americans to stand up and protect your neighborhood, as I will continue the fight in mine.
