In a well-hidden story over the weekend probably due to the bailouts of several corporations, seven Palin aides have now agreed to testify in the abuse of Power scandal, according to Matt Apuzzo, Associated Press Writer on Sunday.  In his article, Mr. Apuzzo stated, “Lawmakers subpoenaed seven state employees to testify in the inquiry but they challenged those subpoenas. After a judge rejected that challenge last week, the employees decided to testify, Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg said”, wow it seems as though we are going to finally get to this bottom of this scandal.  To view the entire story, please visit http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081006/ap_on_el_pr/palin_

I ask you, if she were to become VP, would she also abuse the powers allowed by the US Constitution as she stated during her debate with Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, let me know what you think.

Lil so you've already convicted her of abuse of power. Wow do you have an inside track on the facts of the case?? The people running this havent concluded it yet so how can you make the assumption that she is guilty of anything. I myself think she had every right to fire that person but that is just me I will wait till all the facts are in and then make my judgement.

Come on now... You and I don't argue... We discuss.

So, lets take a look at this. It's true that a person is inocent until proven guilty. What I don't understand is; several months before the firing she was praising this man for the job he was performing and, I mean high accolades. So, all of a sudden she woke up one morning and decided to terminate his employment with the reason being; he wasn't reporting stats to her as she requested...

I've been in supervisory and management most of the time I've come out of the military and there is due process even with employment... It's called "Progressive Discipline."

I don't know anything about Alaska labor law but was this man "serving at Will" or was he on a state contract???

Now, what is your view on that????

First of all, a Governor has the right to fire any member of the cabinet for any reason.

So that said, it's hardly a "SCANDAL" that Palin fired a cabinet member. She can and doesn't even have to give an excuse why.

Second, the firing was run through the board before doing so, what we have here is a disgruntled employee at best.

I would like to see a link to your statement of her giving him "high accolades". Sounds fishy to me. I have read completely different documented statements that would be in contrast to that statement.

Please post your sources (since you brought it to the table) and then I will show you mine.

Linebacker: The person she fired works at her discresion and can be fired at any time. He refused to fire a trouper that not only brought discrace to the force but had broken the law on a couple of levels. He TAZED his 12 yr old step son and called it training, he was seen driving his STATE car with a beer in his hand, weather he was drunk or not I dont know. He shot a moose out of season while on duty with his wifes tag, He knows this is against the law, and then he was reported to say he thought it was OK to do that. He threatned Palin's father with bodily harm.
When she told the chief to can him all he did was give him a weeks leave w/pay. Now would you not fire him or what. To me that trouper was a discrace to the force. But that is just me. This thing got blown out of shape because the MSM wanted to dig up all the dirt they could on Palin because they are in love with 0bama.

Whordawg:

Lets put Palin and Obama aside for a minute and focus on the trooper.

Is there an understanding that this trooper could be a part of a Union and by law, a Union has to be briefed about the Intent to dismiss to allow them to mediate for the trooper's rights under employment status.

One question; Do you believe that this guy (Commissioner Walt Monegan)[possibly] could not fire this trooper due to Union bylaws which [could have] invoked progressive discipline prior to termination... And, do you believe Commissioner Walt Monegan possibly had his hands tied by being caught between a rock and a hard place (i.e., Governor vs. Union) and could not rightfully terminate him due to these union agreements?

In other words, he was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t.

You’ve been in law enforcement and should know whether the above question has some merit to it…
