Last Post 1 day, 1 hour Ago

I was horror-struck to learn that there was a melee at Anacostia High School where five students were injured with three of them stabbed during a time when police, parents, teachers and city officials held meetings to discuss avenues to curb teen violence.  Well, I guess that did not work out so well as a small fire was set during the evacuation of the schools 1100 students as more fights broke out as well, what is going on, parents, take back your children, and children, take back your education as many have died so that you are afforded the same opportunities as others.

The Washington post staff writers reported yesterday, “the incident comes during a time of rising concern about security and discipline problems at DC schools” and now we all have to sit back watching each of you kill or maim another over a neighborhood beef that none of you have any idea what it is about.  In this article, it stated that, “youth violence and the difficulty of deterring it was a topic of discussion elsewhere in the city yesterday” but one must ask how many parents, children or neighborhood members actually showed.

Now, my first issue is that students are suppose to go to school for an education, not a boxing match, so I am asking, why did the parents not step in a beat some tail as that is what some of these students need. However, “other officials appealed to parents to assert more control over their children’s school behavior” something that illustrates my first issue, what are you parents doing to curtail this sort of action in school.

My second issue is with the police department personnel who were assigned to the school, why did you not prevent these kids from trying to kill each other, as that is your job right.  My third issue is with the children who bring neighborhood beefs into the schoolyard, is this any kind of way to secure your futures.

Well, although I am not a parent, but an aunt of 20 plus school aged nieces and nephews, do as it was done to me, if you cut up in school, you got embarrassed in front of the entire school, thus making you never wanting to do what you did again, it works, as I turned out great and learned a lot.  I am imploring every one of us, whether you are a parent, aunt, uncle, cousin, sister, brother or just a neighbor, please let us take back our children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and such as we are losing them by astronomical numbers and this must stop, this is our futures.

How many of you have children that is in school, how many of you would never tolerate such behavior, how many of you actual get involved with every aspect of your child’s education, does it really matter, yes, it does.  Now, I ask you what are you as a person going to do, should we just sit idly by while our younger generation kills each other or does it take each one to teach one to bring this kind of action to a close.

People, please tell me what is going on, why can’t the parents take back their children, and children, why can’t you all take back your education as it is very important to become a productive member of society, let us stop the foolishness and get this right as we write our own history.  It would be nice to pick up the paper or turn on the television and not see these sorts of stories because I know if we all work together, then the words, YES WE CAN, will ring true again!

City threatens blind woman over unpaid 1-cent bill

Tue Nov 18, 9:19 am ET

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – A 74-year-old blind woman was shocked when her daughter found a letter from the city saying a lien would be placed on her home unless she paid an overdue water bill.

The amount? 1 cent.

Eileen Wilbur told The Sun Chronicle of Attleboro the letter sent her blood pressure soaring, and pointed out that stamps cost 42 cents.

City Collector Debora Marcoccio said the letter was among 2,000 sent out. A computer automatically prints letters for accounts with an overdue balance, and they are not reviewed by staff before being mailed, she said.

The letter warned of a lien and a $48 penalty if the overdue bill is not paid by Dec. 10. The charge was from the previous fiscal year, which ran from July 2007 to July 2008.

"My question is, how come it wasn't paid when the (original) bills went out?" Marcoccio said.

Wilbur's daughter, Rose Brederson, who discovered the bill in her mother's mail, called the situation "ridiculous." But she said her mother, who has lived in the home since 1959, would likely end up paying the penny.

Now it would seem to me that it took them more money to process a one cent bill than but what I cannot understand is why in the hell the State of Massachuetts would threaten to put a lien on the elderly for one cent, please someone help me get this one?

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive....so, I took her to a gas station..... and that's when the fight started....

I tried to talk my wife into buying a case of Miller Light for $14.95. Instead, she bought a jar of cold cream for $7.95.   I told her the beer would make her look better at night than the cold cream. And that's when the fight started.

After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home. I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and come back later.  The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application.  When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office.  She said, 'You should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too'......And that's when the fight started.....

My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table.

My wife asked, 'Do you know her?'

'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend.

I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.'

'My God!' says my wife, 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'

And that's when the fight started....

I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car.

You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny?

Yeah, well I couldn't believe it.... he was a DWARF!!!

He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted,

'I AM NOT HAPPY!!!'   So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which

one are you?' And that's when the fight started.....

I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first.

'I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please.'

He said, 'Aren't you worried about the mad cow?'

'Nah, she can order for herself.' And that's when the fight started.....

It was such a welcoming sight to see that Dunwoody will be the first female four-star general in the US Army as reported by the AP approximately 17 minutes ago and we women will continue to make drastic changes in the workforce, as this will not be the last time. The AP has called this “breaking the brass ceiling” and I must agree as I ask all women as well as men to congratulate the US Army for finally taking this step and pray that more and more qualified women are considered for upper position in our Military as we can, we did, and watch us continue to make changes, wow, finally is all I can say.

Tell me how you feel about women in the military and if you think this is a long time coming, as we all need to recognize that each of us regardless of gender, national origin, creed, or religion have valuable assets to attribute greatly to our country. To view the entire story please follow the below link as it makes for great reading.

Well, the second big game of the season is just about upon us and many of the naysayers or Skins fans will say they will be victorious, well, not in my book, as the Boys will go on a winning streak starting Sunday night, hahahahahaha!

Seriously though, I am saying it here first, the Boys will win this second contest with a 21-3 score, if you disagree with me, then tell me what you think will happen, especially you TomW, as I want to here your take on this game.

In my first VP address to the Fox 5 community bloggers, I stated, “I truly believe that the internet will play an intricate role in this government as our newly elected President has and is redefining how politics are viewed in this country”.  Well, I told you so now will you listen as approximately 19 minutes ago the AP released this headline, Obama to pioneer Web outreach as president.  This new way of governing is being called Obama 2.0, its first release that is seen as “an ambitious effort to transform the president-elect's vast Web operation and database of supporters into a modern new tool to accomplish his goals in the White House”.

Also in my first address as VP elect, I asked that you play along with me, let us get back to debating issues as we are the people, we have shown that our voices can be heard, and we know that we will not agree on everything but we can make this reality as we spoke, they heard, now let us keep talking!  Now, again, I am asking you to help me to help him to make this a reality as our voices can be heard, will be heard and it is up to us voters to make them listen, as “Obama's team is determining how best to convert his army of online activists into a viral lobbying and communications machine”.  According to the AP article, “The transition operation has a new Web site, http://www.change.gov, designed for anyone who wants to post a message of congratulations, offer suggestions for the new administration or apply for a government job”.

Once again, I told you so and now will you listen and join me as I ask for a third time that each of you, some I know, some I do not, and others I would like to repair relations with to let us ban together and make this site, our site the best in the new world of getting our thoughts out there for the world to see, we do care about one another as well as the issues.  Will you help me to make Fox 5 bloggers the beginning of President Obama’s new way of governing as we approach him with our issues for this upcoming administration, I await your reply.

A couple of days after the real election, I , your Vice President Elect, posted a blog seeking cabinet members for our new Fox 5 blogging site where we all can come together to discuss the issues that matter without hatred.  It was done as a joke per se but in actuality it can become reality as our President-Elect Obama will use the internet as a governing tool and we can change the way our government listens as we did when we voted in record numbers so that our voices could be heard.  To learn of the position still available in this faux administration please click on the link below.

As I stated in the blog, “I truly believe that the internet will play an intricate role in this government as our newly elected President has and is redefining how politics are viewed in this country. So I ask that you play along with me, let us get back to debating issues as we are the people, we have shown that our voices can be heard, and we know that we will not agree on everything but we can make this reality as we spoke, they heard, now let us keep talking!”  So please sign up soon as we can make this a great site again where everyone discuss issues either agreeing or disagreeing but cordial at the same time, so let us show the other sites that Fox has the best bloggers who are really interested in changing how our government governs.

It is my pleasure to announce that the following individuals have accepted positions thus far, and whether you like me or not, let us ban together to show our new Leader that we the people of Fox 5 are with you and are willing to change.

  1. Tees – Secretary of Education
  2. WBoyd – Secretary of Commerce
  3. Linebacker – Speaker of the House

Now these are the position left to fill, as you can nominate someone or yourself, but please help me to continue on the path of change as I have nominated a few people who have yet to accept, so if you would be so kind as to let your feelings be known it would be great.

  1.  Attorney General
  2. Secretary of Interior
  3. Secretary of Agriculture
  4. Secretary of Labor
  5. Secretary of Health and Human Services
  6. Secretary of Housing and Development
  7. Secretary of Transportation
  8. Secretary of Energy
  9. Secretary of Veteran Affairs
  10. Secretary of Homeland Security
  11. Administrator of EPA
  12. Director of OMB
  13. Director of NDCP
  14. USTR
  15. Chairman, BoG
  16. Commissioner of SSA
  17. Director of NI

First, thank you all for the vote of confidence as we embark upon this new journey to a new dawn of change for America and our community site here at Fox, as I know that I did not get the vote of all my fellow community bloggers as I am not nor was I ever the favorite but I am your New Vice President too, lol, could not resist that one.

Now, many of you know this inside joke that was posed by a blogger during our strenuous election process as I was nominated for the VP role, Brotha Smoov as President, and as you can see I have played on that joke for some time now, with great fun I might add. Regardless, I took the liberty of appointing several positions in which Linebacker has been deemed Speaker of the House, Milu was Secretary of State until this blogger disappeared, and Microbrother as National Security Advisor as we all had strong opinions on various issues. Now, I have several more positions to appoint if these people would be so gracious as I am looking to make this site as it was from the beginning, a place where the community can come together in harmony to agree to disagree as I look for bi-partisanship in my quest.

First, I would like to appoint Jadeddude as the Secretary of Defense as his views on our national defense is great and I believe with the help of Microbrother they both can keep us informed of the various issues. Sir Jadeddude, if you would be so kind and in accordance with my President Elect Smooov’s agreement accept the nomination it would be greatly appreciated as your service is needed to bring this blogging community together in harmony to discuss issues.

Second, I would like to appoint Tees as Secretary of Education as she is one of the most informed individuals concerning history, and current events regarding our educational views. I have learned a great deal of historical facts and her research skills are off the charts for a lack of a better word. Madam Tees, if you would be so kind and in accordance with my President Elect Smooov’s agreement accept the nomination it would be greatly appreciated as your service is needed to bring this blogging community together in harmony to discuss issues.

Third, Donspoliticalblogdc, I would like to appoint as the Secretary of Treasury post as you have exceptional skills in your opinions regarding our budgetary issues and will bring great insight to the debate process here on the blogs as if you would be so kind and in accordance with my President Elect Smooov’s agreement accept the nomination it would be greatly appreciated as your service is needed to bring this blogging community together in harmony to discuss issues.

Fourth, Wboyd, I would like to appoint as the Secretary of Commerce as your views on our business and economy are controversial to say the least but at time makes great points as this is an administration seeking to hear all views whether they agree or not, therefore, if you would be so kind and in accordance with my President Elect Smooov’s agreement accept the nomination it would be greatly appreciated as your service is needed to bring this blogging community together in harmony to discuss issues.

Fifth, I would like to appoint CommanderBill as the Chief of Staff as his views are more than controversial but he too makes for great debates as long as he does not go “rogue” at times, lol. Anyway, , if you would be so kind and in accordance with my President Elect Smooov’s agreement accept the nomination it would be greatly appreciated as your service is needed to bring this blogging community together in harmony to discuss issues.

Now, there are various other positions available in this administration and I was having a difficult time appointing them so I am coming to the Fox bloggers to ask for help so that we can make this site as it was intended. Yes, it is a joke in a way, but not really, as I am looking to go back to the days where we discussed issues, offered our thoughts and agreed as well as disagreed with others thoughts on the subject. So I ask that each of you, some I know, some I do not, and others I would like to repair relations with to let us ban together and make this site, our site the best in the new world of getting our thoughts out there for the world to see, we do care about one another as well as the issues. This is not just for the old, but the young as well and then we can ban together, come to a consensus and let our government know we are watching, we care, and most importantly, we are involved and want to be heard!

Whom do you think would best serve as spokesperson for these posts, appoint your choice of bloggers, even if it is you whether you agree with them or not. Now, with the issues of government being too big, if you think some of these positions should be abolished, please way in as your voice will be heard and we will continue to change what needs to be changed and improve what needs to be improved, but remember, it takes all of us, not just some to make this happen. Now, please do not take offense if you did not see your name as you were on my mind but with the tension of late I did not want anyone to be offended in thinking I should have appointed them to something else, so I am letting you decided the position for yourself.

  1. Attorney General
  2. Secretary of Interior
  3. Secretary of Agriculture
  4. Secretary of Labor
  5. Secretary of Health and Human Services
  6. Secretary of Housing and Development
  7. Secretary of Transportation
  8. Secretary of Energy
  9. Secretary of Veteran Affairs
  10. Secretary of Homeland Security
  11. Administrator of EPA
  12. Director of OMB
  13. Director of NDCP
  14. USTR
  15. Chairman, BoG
  16. Commissioner of SSA
  17. Director of NI

I await your word as this may be a joke but we can make it reality and use this site to get the government to listen to our issues as long as we debate them in a desirable fashion. I truly believe that the internet will play an intricate role in this government as our newly elected President has and is redefining how politics are viewed in this country. So I ask that you play along with me, let us get back to debating issues as we are the people, we have shown that our voices can be heard, and we know that we will not agree on everything but we can make this reality as we spoke, they heard, now let us keep talking!

With the election looming over our heads many of us may have missed the news of Michael Crichton, the great author of Disclosure which later became a number one movie, or Jurassic Park, another novel turned block buster movie, who passed away on November 4, 2008 at the age of 66.  I would like to take this moment to offer condolences to his family, friends and readers of his great novels as well as the moviegoers who have come to love him.  I am an avid reader of all kinds of novels and Michael was one of my favorites, and my heart aches, as I will not have the pleasure of reading any new material of his again but nevertheless, I pray that you rest in peace as you may be gone but never forgotten as you too will be a part of history.

There are no words that can outdo these words so I ask that you truly read them to realize the significance of yesterday’s vote as we have come full circle, so let the dream live on as I am finally getting my wish as my bio states. Thank you all that voted yesterday and to those of you that did not cast a ballot on the right side of history, I thank you as well because you too will realize that we are truly ONE PEOPLE, with ONE VOICE, that will show the WORLD, YES, WE CAN!

President Barrack Hussein Obama, November 4, 2008:

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.”

“It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled - Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.”

Martin Luther King"Give Us the Ballot," Address Delivered at the Prayer Pilgrimage for Freedom
17 May 1957, Washington, D.C.:

“Speaking last, King exhorts the president and members of Congress to ensure voting rights for African Americans and indicts both political parties for betraying justice: "The Democrats have betrayed it by capitulating to the prejudices and undemocratic practices of the southern Dixiecrats. The Republicans have betrayed it by capitulating to the blatant hypocrisy of right wing, reactionary northerners. These men so often have a high blood pressure of words and an anemia of deeds."

“Although turnout for the Pilgrimage did not reach organizers' goal of fifty thousand, the event was well noted in the press, and King's address in particular received much positive attention. Harold Sims, sent by the U.S. National Student Association to cover the Pilgrimage, described the day: "Throughout the afternoon of May 17th, 1957, the air was filled with shouts of 'amen' and 'hallelujah' as the speakers sounded their voices in defense of civil rights. Handkerchiefs flew above the heads of the crowd as it listened to the fiery orators. . . . They were jubilant sounds . . . sounds of disillusioned souls discovering their country." The following is taken from an audio recording of the event.”

A Realistic Look at the Question of Progress in the Area of Race Relations
Address at Freedom Rally

Now let us notice first that we've come a long, long way. You will remember that it is was in the year of 1619 that the Negro slaves first landed on the shores of this nation. They were brought here from the shores of Africa. Unlike the Pilgrim fathers who landed at Plymouth a year later, they were brought here against their wills. Throughout slavery the Negro was treated in a very inhuman fashion. He was a thing to be used, not a person to be respected. (Yeah, That's Right) He was merely, [applause] he was merely a depersonalized cog in a vast plantation machine. (Yeah) The famous Dred Scott decision of 1857 well illustrates the status of the Negro during slavery. For it was in this decision that the Supreme Court of the nation said, in substance, that the Negro is not a citizen of this nation. He is merely property subject to the dictates of his owner. Living under these conditions many Negroes lost faith in themselves. Many came to feel that perhaps they were less than human. So long as the Negro accepted this place assigned to him, so long as the Negro patiently accepted injustice and exploitation, a sort of racial peace was maintained.

I Have a Dream - Address at March on Washington

August 28, 1963. Washington, D.C.

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

“I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.”

“I have a dream that one day the state of Alabama, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, will be transformed into a situation where little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls and walk together as sisters and brothers.”

“I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.”

“This is our hope. This is the faith with which I return to the South. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.”

“And if America is to be a great nation this must become true. So let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!”

President Kennedy's Civil Rights Speech

June 11, 1963

“I hope that every American, regardless of where he lives, will stop and examine his conscience about this and other related incidents. This nation was founded by men of many nations and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened.

Who among us would then be content with the counsels of patience and delay? One hundred years of delay have passed since President Lincoln freed the slaves, yet their heirs, their grandsons, are not fully free. They are not yet freed from the bonds of injustice. They are not yet freed from social and economic oppression. And this nation, for all its hopes and all its boasts, will not be fully free until all its citizens are free.

We preach freedom around the world, and we mean it, and we cherish our freedom here at home, but are we to say to the world and, much more importantly, to each other that this is a land of the free except for the Negroes; that we have no second-class citizens except Negroes; that we have no class or caste system, no ghettos, no master race except with respect to Negroes?

Now the time has come for this nation to fulfill its promise. The events in Birmingham and elsewhere have so increased the cries for equality that no city or state or legislative body can prudently choose to ignore them. The fires of frustration and discord are burning in every city, North and South, where legal remedies are not at hand. Redress is sought in the streets, in demonstrations, parades and protests which create tensions and threaten violence and threaten lives.

We face, therefore, a moral crisis as a country and as a people. It cannot be met by repressive police action. It cannot be left to increased demonstrations in the streets. It cannot be quieted by token moves or talk. It is a time to act in the Congress, in your state and local legislative body and, above all, in all of our daily lives. It is not enough to pin the blame on others, to say this is a problem of one section of the country or another, or deplore the fact that we face. A great change is at hand, and our task, our obligation, is to make that revolution, that change, peaceful and constructive for all. Those who do nothing are inviting shame as well as violence. Those who act boldly are recognizing right as well as reality.”

As the old saying goes, when the Redskins play at home on the eve before an election, the incumbent party losses its seat if the team lose the game, well, guess what, I do not need to say anymore.  I am going to keep it short and sweet, thank you Pittsburgh, as my brother in North Carolina loves the outcome and as a Boys fan in Skins land, I love it more…..thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks, in more ways than one!

Thy will I choose; I give to Thee
All of the life Thou gavest me;
Thy will I choose, no life I ask
Except to do Thy given task. —Anon.

Many of you have deemed me to be a bible thumper but I beg to differ as you cannot see the Child of God that is before you which is why I speak of HIM so often and dearly in all my endeavors, in which my intentions is not to try changing anyone’s religion or stance on it.  For me, I cannot do anything without the ONE who created us all so if I come across as the “bible thumper” that I have been deemed please do not condemn me for following behind the only force that can change us all because I stand in the wilderness screaming to be heard for HIS wonderful word.  I come to speak again today to show many that my cries are not going away as it surprised not just me who gives HIM my all, but everyone who will hear HIS voice when he calls.

Just looking back over these last two years has proven to me that HE will dry all our tears, heal all our pain, and provide us a path consisting of change.  Did you know that on February 10, 2007 when our about to be elected President Barrack Obama made his announcement for the bid that God’s word stated “When we follow Jesus, all of life changes direction”, wow how is that for irony as you might not believe but I can surely see, we have come full circle.  Now, on August 28, 2008 when our about to be elected President Barrack Obama accepted the Democratic Nomination God’s words spoke again which stated “Whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”

Wow, how close can you get as God has provided us with an individual to lead us through a transformational change and if you do not want to admit it at least look at the ramifications.   It was a historic moment when this nomination was presented, as we had just surpassed a legacy of change with the celebration of MLK and JFK speeches during that time.  Finally, today God’s word is even louder to our ears if we would just open them to hear as HE discuss “Choosing Our Leader” which states “Each day we choose the one we will follow in life” and now we must sit back, count the votes and celebrate HIS choice!

Although Mr. Obama has my vote, my confidence, and is clearly my choice to lead the country it will never take away from the fact that every person must choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve . . . . But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

My heart goes out to the Obama's today as it was just released that "Toot" has past away either sometime last night or early today.  I would like to offer my condolences to this family as they embrace for the biggest night of their lives and it is a shame that she will not be with them at this stage.  Nevertheless, just know that she will be watching from Heaven as you receive your crown tomorrow!!!!

Stay blessed and keep the path to change as we are all behind you in your quest.
