The DC gov't thinks the answer is to fire the social workers involved in the cases of the girls murdered on 6th Street SE. Punish them yes, but how is firing them going to help? That is just going to make the other social workers even MORE overwhelmed with work. Governments don't budget enough to our social services department. I mean why should they? Social workers are only there to LOOK OUT FOR OUR COUNTRY'S CHILDREN. Instead the social workers have to put up with hell. Are overwhelmed with cases for next to no money. So now that we have even fewer social workers, there will be more children slipping through the cracks because there are not enough social workers to look out for them.

Instead of looking for people to blame, find out where the flaws were and fix them. Quit playing the blame game. The only person at fault for their murders is their mother. Running around firing people is not helping. Teaching them can. Learning what the social workers are going through and fixing things to try and make it easier for them to help the children is another answer. Fenty is not doing a good job here. He needs to do his research or have some of his lacky's to do it for him.

I agree with you that they should re-analyse and fix the system. However, if the procedures weren't followed by these employees, then they need to hire more competent people.

Kelly:
Well said and I agree with you 1000 percent as the firing will do nothing and it was the lowest grades that got canned anyway, how does that help, to me, it just adds more salt to the wounds. I was trying to stay away from this story as it still hurts me to my heart especially the neighbors who thought they smelled dead rats, hell I thought everyone knew the difference between a decomposing body and a dead animal, but we are talking about people who could careless about one another, how sad for these children. I do not just blame the CPS, but the Authorities in DC period, from Fenty on down the chain, every entity within the system failed these kids but the most blame should lie within her family. You mean to tell me that these people did not care about their own flesh and blood enough to get involved, hell, what is the purpose of family if we will not help each other out. When it comes to the blame game, I do not think the Charter School in which the eldest child attended should be blamed for anything as the Social Worker there tried her damndest to help to no avail, how many times did she try to call, how many times did she get transferred and how much more could she have done, as I think she went above and beyond. If I were in a position to do something about everyone involved, I would start at the top of the food chain, get their arses out of there and get some qualified people who will train the underlings to do a better job. Great Post!

Kelly-00 I am with you 100 percent too!
Especially, "Instead of looking for people to blame, find out where the flaws were and fix them. Quit playing the blame game. The only person at fault for their murders is their mother."
It is broke, so fix it! While I agree there should be accountability, I would be willing to bet the ones getting fired were not totally to blame for the breakdown.

My question in this entire tragedy is: Even if Social Service had done their jobs and the kids were in school and being looked after, Does that mean the mother would not have murdered the children anyway? I love how people blame others as if they were the ones who actually went up to the room and stabbed the children. One person is to blame here, THE MOTHER.

RED-DOG1, you are right, if the Mother was indeed hell bent in killing them, sooner or later. BUT, then again hind-sight is 20-20.
Just like in so many other instances, Virginia Tech, Columbine, etc, the signs were there, but nobody was seeing or taking action. I think mainly because as "Civilized Humans", we simply don't want to see the worst in mankind, and think that people will actually do that.
At least personally I do not.
