Traffic was a straight beast today coming from Southern Maryland because of the accident that happened earlier this morning.

I have two solutions for decreasing the traffic coming out of Southern Maryland, particularly Charles County.

a. extend the green line to at least Brandywine or Waldorf.

b. Build the overpasses that Camp Springs and Clinton have.

It's that simple.

My husband would LOVE to see the green line come out this way!
If Metro wants to go to Dulles, they should look out here too.

Cindalu,

You are right. I forgot all about Route 66, they might need an extension of METRO out there more than we do down 301. 66 is always a parking lot during rush hours.

But the green line down our way is what I'm talking about.

I am saying that is they are considering an exrension to Dulles than an extention into the Brandywine/Waldorf area seems like a logical step as well.

msscrystall,

I feel your frustration and here is my answer. As consumers we SHOULD continue paying whatever the price is for gas, even if they increase it. However, we do nothing else but use our money for essentials only. No vacations(unless staying home), no new clothing(unless absolutely necessary), no alcohol or tobacco, no toys, no video games, not even dining in restaurants. Everybody shop at the grocery stores and cook there meals. If we tighten up the screws in that manner and keep our extra money instead of spending it, retail stores will have a fit and beg Congress to step in and make these prices go down so we all can afford gas again. But discipline is needed. Essentials only.

Case in point, look at how the power of "many foreclosures" is making everyone in Congress act. Something needs to be done to remedy these foreclosures. Well, something needs to be done to remedy these gas prices.

During the last gubernatorial race, Marton O'Malley promised SoMd a light rail system from Branch Avenue to Leonardtown. Once that rat got into office, he said it wasn't cost effective. So when you're sitting in traffic watching the horses roam that horse farm at Mattawoman Creek, try to remember that when O'Malley and Brown run for re=election.

As for the interchanges in Camp Springs and parts of Clinton, that's PG County's responsibility. IF similar interchanges were constructed at Surratts Road and T.B., the traffic issue would have been eased considerably. Maybe we should ask Jack Johnson what happened? Nah...forget it, that moron wouldn't know.

Another future troublespot will be at Chadds Ford Road when that industrial/retail district is finally completed.
