Ok, so Sunday night, I did everything I needed to do, so I could be in front of the television by 9pm to catch what had been one of my favorite television shows in recent years, The Wire.

After the Wire ended, I sat there wondering, "is that it?" Are you kidding me?  You mean to tell me the creators went out like that?  Here is a powerfully created drama depicting life in the inner cities, the harbors, the precincts, the schools, the pressrooms, and even the political offices and the best you guys can do is come up with last night's show?  Are you kidding me?  We're talking about the Wire.  We're talking about a show that had people talking about it the very next morning in schools and at various job sites.  This show was educating millions of people on day to day life in various parts of B-more and this it?  You guys wanna pull the cord after showing this episode?  Is this a joke?  Talk about being Punk'd.  Unbelievable.

Why do I feel like Stringer Bell and Omar died for nothing?  Why do I feel like this particular episode made thousands of youngstaz think they can pull a Marlo now?   More importantly, why did the last show of a remarkable 5 year season feel like Hollywood's fingerprints were all over it?  For the first time in the shows existence, the rawness which kept it real and life-like pulled a Houdini on it's viewers.  Unreal.

Ok, so I got that off my chest.  You tell me though am I luncheon or was The Wire some straight up garbage?

I definitely understand what the fans of The Sopranos are going through.

LOL.. I think they ended it the best way they could.. They left open some doors just in case they want to come back. I cant even complain. I wish Marlowe would have went down tho.

I reallt believe that they left us hanging so that they can create a movie.

shuga,

I respect your opinion but I'll have to disagree with you. They didn't end it the best way they could have. They spent entirely too much time in the newsroom and with those particular characters. Don't get me wrong, the whole media thing was quite educational for me, I just thought they stretched it way too long. I also didn't like how they did McNulty's character.

foxfan229,

The Wire is not the kind of television show you can just turn into a movie. There are things that go on during the course of the season that writers can't just make happen in a little over 2 hours. You need to see these things happen progressively. One of the main beefs I have is the cast size. Way too many people. And this season, the last season, he crams everybody in there who's ever been on the show. The season/series finale should have been 2 hours long for starters. Marlow should've felt some kind of pain for the stuff he did. Instead, he's mingling with lawyers and businessmen who know he don't belong in there. He gets bored and goes across the street to sucker punch two dudes with a knife and a gun. If that had happened here in DC. They'd be having his memorial service but I guess you can get away with stuff like that up there. McNulty's character should have quit on his own terms instead of being forced out. They never should've allowed him to create some murders so the police officers could work overtime. Mikey should be dead for what he did just because its part of the game.

I mean, it's so many other directions they could've gone. I'm not saying it could've ended on a good note, but it feels like the Powers That Be made the decisions that eventually ended up messing with this season's episodes.

By the way, if they go movie, who's left to be in it?

I too was disappointed in the last show as I am an avid Wire watcher, but did anyone else notice the show before the last one when the creators give you a preview of next week's episode there was a "NEW" box in the upper right hand corner, what did that mean? Also I think they left us hanging as well and would not be surprised to see a movie or a spinoff, hey I am gamed as this was a great show!

If they try to capture a drama like that in a two hour time period, it will be a major mistake on there part.

I was born and raised in Suitland, Maryland. A true suburbanite. I have a pet pirahna fish named Tragedy who's been with me since 1994. I work as a statistician, but I hate math. I am a die hard Washington Redskins fan. Sean Taylor#21 will always be a god to me. I love sci-fi movies. Particularly, Star Wars. I love all music but neo-soul and east-coast hip hop is my choice. I hate reality television shows. Besides, my lovely wife, my 3 favorite women in the world are Halle Berry, Jill Scott and FOX 5's Allison Seymour. These lovely women can do no wrong in my eyez.
