I must admit my knowledge and passion for basketball is nowhere near football but I'm interested in what sport-fans think when it comes to MJ and Kobe.  In my opinion Kobe is slowly starting to narrow the gap between he and Jordan.

Jordan in my eyez is the best player to ever play the game.  He's had the biggest impact on the game.  I don't believe there will ever be anyone who will have the same kind of impact.  I know some say Wilt was the best since he gave'um 100pts one time. Some may even feel Magic since he was talented enough to play all 5 positions.  I've been watching Kobe for a minute now and this dude seems to be taking Jordan's all around game to a new level.

Do you think Kobe will eventually be the best basketball player to ever play the game?

No doubt he's closed the gap... but still aways to go (3 more rings just to tie MJ) but I do think, because of his defense, he's the only one who acn be put in the MJ discussion. You raise an interesting point with Magic... he could play all "5" positions... and in 82.. when he played center against the Sixers to wrap up the title when Kareem was sick.. and went for 42 points I believe... never saw anything like that. BUT.. Magic never played defense.. but with those "Showtime Lakers", he wasn't asked to... interesting circumstances for this debate!

You're right about Magic. I just notice he's one of the guys who's name seems to always come up when they talk about the best that ever did it because of his versatility. When he was playing, it was insane to see a 6'9 point guard do what he did.

As for Kobe, he could sure use a Scottie Pippen himself, huh? It always amazed me how MJ was able to win so much with average centers.

But I do think Kobe is closing that gap between he and MJ. Of course time will reveal...

I was born and raised in Suitland, Maryland. A true suburbanite. I have a pet pirahna fish named Tragedy who's been with me since 1994. I work as a statistician, but I hate math. I am a die hard Washington Redskins fan. Sean Taylor#21 will always be a god to me. I love sci-fi movies. Particularly, Star Wars. I love all music but neo-soul and east-coast hip hop is my choice. I hate reality television shows. Besides, my lovely wife, my 3 favorite women in the world are Halle Berry, Jill Scott and FOX 5's Allison Seymour. These lovely women can do no wrong in my eyez.
