John McCain yesterday, was caught in another lie, stating that the sale of the Alaskan government owned plane sold on eBay at a profit – not true.  But this a pattern of his, saying, doing whatever is politically expedient.  The man has a problem with telling the truth; in basic terms he is a lair! This goes directly to his flawed character and credibility. If he will lie about something so small and meaningless: What will he do on a more considerable issue? It seems to me that we have experienced what will happen demonstrated by his buddy, Bush’s administration, and the years of lies they inflicted upon this country. While McCain says he is different, a 90% level of agreement with Bush shows that the apple does not fall far from the tree………

So how much did Alaska pay for the plane in the first place? How much did it sell for? How much savings were there when you factor in the cost of storage, maintenance, pilots, fuel?

I'm not being sarcastic...I just think that in order for him to have "lied" like you are claiming, you should present the facts to prove he lied.

I thought Palin said that.

The point was missed Jones.
Palin sold the plane because she saw it as a waste of tax dollars. So she liquidated it and used those funds for the good of the state.

If she sold it for profit or a loss there were still funds coming in for something else she though deserved the money.
She fired the Gov's personal chef too.

theburglie,

You are stretching the fact, the claim that was made was that the plane was sold on eBay (not true, sold by a broker, stated by the Palin) at a profit (not true, stated by McCain at a rally), neither of which occurred. We are talking about a profit from the sales of the plane, not about eliminating cost. The plane cost, 2.7 million dollars, it sold for 2.1 million, which is not a profit. You are talking about information that is not part of the facts.

Dog,
No McCain said she sold it at a profit, and Palin said nothing about reducing cost, she said she sold the plane on eBay, not so. Also, she did not terminated the chief, she reassigned her. Words matter, especially if you are talking about making a change, one needs to be specific in what you say, otherwise it cause doubt? In the case there is no doubt, both of these people have lied.

Actually, SHE said she PUT it on EBay. She never said she sold it there, she also never said she sold it for a profit. SHE told the truth. The campaign folks are the ones that didn't.

I'm probably not voting for either Joneswq, I'm an independant and though I like Ms. Palin, thats not enough reason for me to vote for McCain.

So far, I don't think either Presidential Candidate is worth his weight in dirt.

theburglife,
The implication of her rhetoric was that she sold it there; which is an implication that was untrue. Even, if she only said that she put it on eBay, she was there when McCain made his statement, which gave her the opportunity to correct him. Why not, and if not, what does that say about her, and here willingness to do what is right. By the way, I never said that she said she sold it at a profit, I said McCain did. In my opinion, truth is binary, either you tell it all or you lied! There is no middle ground, if there are extenuating circumstances, be fair honesty and up from, you need to put it all on the table; otherwise you cause people to doubt your sincerity, honesty and character. And, this is a time in our history when we (America) need no doubts at all; we need a strict diet of the truth (straight talk) on which to make decisions. If things are not straightforward at least explain your position one should not say what is politically expedient.

What type of aircraft was it and how much the bidding started at... I'm surprise they didn't let me in on the bid cycle... Hope it was jet powered and not prop powered..

Linebacker53,

It was a Jet, it sold for 2.1 million. The state purchased it for 2.7 million.
