Don't allow them to "Pimp out" anything on their car. Not even a Playboy air freshener. No rims, no big exhaust. Plain Jane cars. Install GPS trackers and computer chips that monitor speed and driving habits. When they cross the allowed line take away the car. It's that simple.

Most of the kids killed in driving accidents were in their family suvs or small/mid-size sedans. Nothing "pimped out." Where did that come from? Installing GPS and computer chips is a good idea.

Hi JJGgps,

It's all about training! I had all three of my kids out in the car, training / teaching BEFORE they even went for a Learner's Permit.

Moreso, be an example! to your kids with good driving habits...they'll get the message. If you think safe driving habits are important, they will think the same. Kids watch everything you do...believe me.

Set limits/ boundaries. It's OK for parents to set a curfew with driving. No late night careening all over the place. You say to them, "The car (and you) need to be in the driveway, safe and sound, by 9 PM."

I know all parents may want to put their child in a virtually indestructible '57 Chevy their first driving years, but with solid training, and consistent limits and boundaries, they will come home, into your loving arms, safe and sound.
