Pet peeves... we all got 'em. But the article below talks specifically about what annoys us at work. Read it... and then feel free to vent yourself!

OFFICE PET PEEVES UNDATED (AP) -- Do you hate it when co-workers are gossiping in the next cubicle? Well, you're not alone. Office gossip is the number-one pet peeve in a survey of workplace annoyances. According to the staffing firm Randstad USA, 60 percent of those responding in an online poll put loose lips at the top of their list.

More than half say they don't like the way co-workers waste time on the job, while 45 percent can't stand it when the coffee room or other common areas are a mess. Other pet peeves that got high rankings include strong smells, such as food, perfume or smoke, and people who gab too loudly on their cell or speaker phones.

My #1 Pet Peeve at work is when a certain person at work feels the need to tell me all about their sexual experiences from the previous night or weekend (in great detail I might add)...

I used to hate it when someone would burn popcorn in the microwave. It's the stench that will not die!

GrandmaM a big amen on the burned popcorn.

samti, the ones that have to talk and/or brag about their sexual experiences, were probably "dancing with themselves", if you get my drift.

luvmybroom makes another good point too!

I hate gossip also. It does nothing but damages. A manager in our company is the Lead Gossiper. How sad!! Then she gossips about other managers to subordinates and then they feel they have no need to follow directives because of the garbage she has spread.

Ok, my biggest pet peeve, is when their is a unisex bathroom and men don't put the seat down or wipe it off. Women, if you leave something behind wipe it off as well.

samti, try this. When the person starts his/her offensive little tale, look surprised, say, "Whoa, that's way too much information!" and walk away. If the narrative continues after that, it would be considered sexual harrassment in the workplace and you have a right to complain.

Excellent solution GrandmaM.

Gooberpug, I had a fellow supervisor, male also, that insisted upon "spraying the toilet, seat and surrounding area. This was not a unisex bathroom, but a men's room complete with TWO urinals that this moron refused to use. The fact that I am, and was then, in a wheelchair meant that I had to use the toilet. The ramifications of his lack of sense had to be cleaned up by me before I could use the facilities. No amount of my going off on his DA ever sank in. He finally transferred to a station, and became their "Shower Boy" problem.

Man, that is the worst, nastiest think I ever heard of. His mommy needed to housebreak that moron.

Starrman, we've said it before---ain't life after retirement sweet? I don't have home pet peeves, as we've worked through most of that, but I sure got disgusted at work by what I saw.

GrandmaM I have tried everything, it's another female here, and the bad thing is that she used to date a guy that works here--- can I just say EWE, I do not want to hear all and I mean all the details... Now that she has moved on the a new man I know all of his information, I mean come on... It's one thing to say that you had a "good night" last night, but it's another that I know this man up and down and never even laid eyes on him...

Starrman- I definitely get your drift- my husband keeps telling me that she is saying all of this because she is 10 years my senior and wants me to know that she still has it-- well that's all fine and dandy but I don't care

My Pet Peeve is when your co-workers get together and spend half of the day on smoke breaks while you work harder than all of them but at the end of the day make the same amount of money. Why can't they kill themselves on their own time.

GrandmaM, A HUGE amen on the, "---ain't life after retirement sweet?"

I always wondered if the moron had a showerhead, instead of the normal fixtures down there.

Everyone has hit most of them. The one about the sex exploits is a riot. Normally if you look at the person bragging, you realize that "they really couldn't have done those things. The burnt popcorn is diminishing because most micrwaves now have a "Popcorn" setting. My pet peeve is people who try to get you into dicussions on volatile political or racial issues, hoping to bait you into saying something in the heat of the discussion that they can use against you. While this happens mostly with managers, it also happens between peers.

Hey TomW, where have you been?? Glad you are back.

I also agree with people trying to bait you into a discussion. When you are retired you can sit back and laugh at ALL of those situations, and realize how trite some people are or can be.

My pet peeves include backstabbers, celebrity gossip, and random people who say, "Did you see that?"

my biggest pet peeve is when someone at work doesn't realize how bad there breathe smells. I mean if you smoke keep a mint, and if you have history of bad breathe add mints to your diet, Before talking my eyebrows off.
