But do we want to? While searching the news wires today, I found Paris Hilton making headlines once again.

------------------------------------------
From the AP: Two nightclubs known as Club Paris will no longer be associated with their namesake -- Paris Hilton, according to the club's owner. Fred Khalilian said he "fired" the hotel heiress because she has failed to attend scheduled appearances at the location in downtown Orlando. The troubles started two years ago when Hilton showed up six hours late for the grand opening, Khalilian said.

"She's created a circus for herself," he said. "It's all
about: How has she screwed up now?" Khalilian does not want to change the name of the Orlando club, or one opened in Jacksonville last year, because he said the name
is so well known. Instead of Club Paris representing Hilton, it will stand for the city, Khalilian said.

He plans to hold a competition to find the new face of his
clubs. Hilton's spokesman Elliot Mintz told The Associated Press that neither he nor the 25-year-old Hilton have been contacted by Khalilian.

"I'm certainly disappointed to learn of Fred's unfortunate
comments." Mintz said. "We shall address his statements at the
appropriate time."
------------------------------------------

Okay.... so what exactly is the infatuation with Paris Hilton? She is simply famous for being famous. I don't get it. How her name continues to be in the news is mindboggling to me. Why do people care what she's doing, who she's dating, what she's wearing, etc.? Can someone please explain it to me?

I am right there with you. I don't get it either. I think her 15 minutes should be about done.

Holly - where is your husband these days - I've noticed he is no longer on FOX5. I met you both years ago at the Emmys. You were so kind to take a picture with me and you introduced me to your parents.

I think we can all name about a dozen of these so called "celebrities/socialites" can't we? Yes, too much emphasis on not much substance. Now, I would be interested in her families business achievements...that's impressive. www.awisemove.net

OK, Holly -- I'm up to this challenge!

Paris isn't famous for being famous. That cliche' is just a circular argument -- a logical fallacy that doesn't explain anything. You can't be famous unless someone gives you a reason to BE famous. So she's famous for being...a fascinating tabloid subject. Without doing anything, Paris already had one thing going for her -- she's going to inherit billions someday as the daughter of the head of the Hilton Hotels empire. That itself was her key to get into the Hollywood social scene -- who's gonna turn down the daughter of one of the richest and most influential couples in America? And if you continue MAKE scenes in that setting, someone's bound to record something on camera. And that's what happened to Paris Hilton -- no one knew she existed until she thrust herself into the Hollywood social scene already saturated with media, and she did something for the cameras that was tabloid newsworthy. And the rest is history.

Notice that you hear virtually nothing from Mr. and Mrs. Hilton. Can you even give me their first names?

Holly, I am assuming that your post is your personal opinion vs. your professional one. Mainly because, with all due respect, your profession, the media, has contributed to our seeing Paris Hilton EVERY SINGLE DAY in the "legitimate" media as well as the tabloids.

I too don't know the fascination with Paris Hilton or any of the other celebrities that are splashed across the t.v. screen and newspapers. I find people like Paris, Nicole Ritchie, Lyndsay Lohan, etc. quite sad individuals. They thrive on all and any attention they can get. They go to clubs and restaurants where they KNOW the paparazzi sit and wait for them to show up. And then they pose for the camera..

They all live a charmed life and I guess they're just enjoying themselves. But, I personally don't need a report of their daily whereabouts.

I feel that giving these celebrities as much publicity that the media does, is a waste. The majority of them have no substance, no sense and just want to be seen.
