How many times have you heard Hillary Clinton campaign consultants ie. Geof Garvin say she has "earned the right" to end her presidential campaign when, where and how she sees fit? How does an unsuccessful run for the presidency "earn you the right" to do anything? A wise man once said you need the biggest ego on the planet to run for the highest office in this land. That view, to me, is validated in this assertion that Hillary's 'earned' anything.

Spend hard earned money from millions of believers. Skip your day job for a year and a half. Get an all expenses paid trip upon trip around the country. Loan yourself money with the promise of getting every penny back. And you've 'earned the right' to ignore conventional wisdom, common sense, American history in the making ... to drop out of the race for the White House on your own terms? I have no qualms with HIllary doing what Hillary wants to do. Politics is dirty, selfish and clearly self-aggrandizing. But being a part of the political process ... a failed candidate at that ... doesn't seem to me to 'earn you the right' to do much of anything. What has Mitt Romney earned? Ron Paul? It just gives you the stage to be who you are. But please don't wrap ego gratification in entitlement. Only being an actual presidential nominee 'earns you the right' to that stage.

There you go again making assumptions about peoples' rights! Dont get me wrong I am not a Clinton lover by any measure ... She has earned the right to do what she wants with HER campaign. Just like you think you have earned the right to spout the news, she has earned the right to terminate HER campaign when and where she wants to ... what would you have her do? Its HER campaign ... its about HER candidacy. Whether she wins or loses, its still HER campaign to do as she wished ....

Seems like to you need to skip on over to NBC and join your liberal pals ... spoken like a true lefty, who has clearly shown his cards with the words'history in the making' ... smacks of Obama bias to me ... Didnt Obama skip work too? Or did you conveniently forget that?

But then this is the gutter media .. why should I be shocked at the feigned annoyance?

I believe some people run in the Marine Marathon not sure if they can make it to the end. Do you go the the guy/girl still running after the first person has crossed the finish line and say, "you should quit!" NO you don't.
I think Obama supporters still see her as a threat, thats why we are hearing what we hear.
Either way the Republicans will win again this election.

Nice to see you back, luvmybroom! I think I'm not as nice as you, however. I'm cynical and am delighted to see Sen. Clinton continue to put herself above her party.

She reminds me of the seagulls in the kids' movie, "Finding Nemo". Last night as she smirked and pointed to the audience, she seemed to be muttering "Mine, Mine, Mine" like the seagulls.

Do you think Obama's puppeteers will be dumb enough to allow her on his ticket?

Brian what's the deal with complainin’ and criticizing’ her followers for turnin' over THEIR MONEY for her to spend ...what's your point, to brand these people dummies? ...while on the hole, I can't find it in me to imagine Hillary or Obama making much of a Prez, how does a candidate who passed on Michigan voters never the less recieve half their delegates for a no show ...let me guess, Obama thought it was fair the Party foiled Florida and Michigan’s primary results rather than demand CHANGE…

.failed you say ...who's to say the Dems primary season wouldn’t have went the other way had Clinton enjoyed media adulation for taking the Florida and Michigan primaries and had the opportunity to use that capital to strengthen voter support launchin’ her more strongly into the schedule of primaries that followed …who’s to say had the Dems not conveniently abandoned their crusade of the recent past to “count every vote” Clinton wouldn’t be the top dog at the Dem convention…

The Dems can’t save themselves from tinkerin’ with destiny if they feel it won’t turn out as scripted …they got the candidate they ordained would be and look at the messy corners they have to figure how to tuck in to make it look like they’ve got a nice, tidy bed to lie on and that there never was a problem…

luvmybroom, DITTO GrandmaM's "Good to see you back".

The one thing I agree with in Brian's post is, "Spend hard earned money from millions of believers."

Like many of the other posters here, I abhor Hillary and "Slick Willy", win or lose, she needs to continue to the convention.

I think she should run till its over. After all, its a not a quitters game. If perhaps others wouldn't have just QUIT, we might have some different candidates at the moment. As for her supporters, I hope they won't vote for Obama just because he's a Democrat. But frankly, I think his battle just began and I don't see him holding up against a true veteran like McCain in the debates. I for one can't wait to see them, I think lots of people will be wondering what Obama truly intends to do then. Perhaps I'll finally hear him say something other then "we need change." Well no DUH!

Gooberpug....putting Obama against John McCain will expose how John McCain will need to sit his old tail down somewhere! LoL McCain is in for an embarrassment! LoL Obama can just expose McCains on his lack of intrest in Domestic policies!!!

As for this blog...I have nothing but the upmost respect for Hillary. Sometimes it takes more guts to bow out gracefully and regroup yourself rather than continue on. The more you drag it along, the worst your defeat will look in the end.

Brian, Brian...you are a very good anchor...i listen to you and Shawn every night. I am very disappointed in your questioning Hillary's
"sticktoitiveness". Remember, it's not over until it's over. She HAS earned the right to hang in there until!!! You need to stick to anchoring.

hey Smooov ...a suggestion when you vist your grandparents in the future ...I'd encourage you not to use the phrase "sit your tired old tail down" in their presence ...they may see it as a sign haven't quite yet matured and question what other genuine feelin's your hold toward someone of their age ...maybe leave them a little turned off at the least...

Beagle_buddy....

Let face it...McCain is tired and old! Look at his speaches and how hard he's depending on that podium! The position of president puts a lot of wear and tear on your mind which affects the body. Look at Clinton and Bush at the beginning of their terms and and then at the end of their terms! They are just broken down when it's all said and done. McCain wouldn't even make it. LoL

Why do you feel it necessary to refer to McCain in such a derogatory manner? You say he needs to sit his old tail down somewhere. What about Obama and his poetic speeches. You know the ones...he talks and talks getting people all fired up (Rev Wright's shadow and Farrakhans Bro). Then when all the excitement dies down it leaves people STILL asking what exactly does he intend to CHANGE and how is it going to get done? Those of us who are not followers of Obama has him figured out. We see clearly what he's all about. His playground and playmates speaks volumes and defines who he his. That does not change by making a speech on leaving the church. He's not a true leader but a great speaker.

I agree that she hasn't earned the right to be President. I don't think that anyone has or can earn that right. This office is prestigious.

Regardless of how you feel, Hillary has earned the right to continue to fight for that office.

Brian...You have a right to your opinion...but expressing it is not so good when you are a news anchor. Your words are typical of MSNBC and NBC's pro-Obama spin on EVERYTHING. The most successful news anchors, such as Walter Cronkite and Peter Jennings were professionals who never overtly gave their opinions on newscasts...and they were much loved for that professionalism. You would do well to emulate them. I think it is tacky for you to express the fact that you "think" Hillary has no right to stay in this race until the end. She has earned EVERY right to stay in this race...this is called a DEMOCRACY..or..it used to be.

MsColleen, your line, "His playground and playmates speaks volumes and defines who he his."
Therein lies one of my biggest problems with Obama. The skirting of questions is another.

I guess we will all see in November.

BigSmooov, go easy on us "tired and old" folks.
Don't forget, age and wisdom will ALWAYS win over youth and inexperience.

I appreciate all your comments. It's a difficult task to post an apolitical blog about a political nuance ... but that's the gist of this entry. I'm no more an Obama supporter than a Clinton supporter than a McCain supporter. I'm merely an observer, offering my take on a controversial topic. I've taken both parties to task. Cried foul on all major candidates. With the ever present skepticism of media motives ... the simmering idealogical feud between FOX News and MSNBC ... putting 'talking heads' like myself into stereotypical boxes is a popular parlor game. Just like hammering out a few words on a touchy topic that gets viewers talking. I compartmentalize blogs from broadcasts. I know you guys do too.

BigSmooov, it is totally your silly opinion that McCain is tired and old. I don't for one moment think he is, but I can tell you Obama is a racist pig and one who supports terrorists. I'll certainly enjoy watching his defeat in November!!!

speech not speach

Well, Brian, I would hardly compare Hillary to Mitt Romney or Ron Paul. She lasted until June and got millions more votes than they. so, no comparison.

Also, as others have pointed out Obama and McCain have been away from their day job for a year. So what is the point of mentioning that as, unfortunately, that is the only way that they, the candidates can swing it.

Beyond that Hillary almost made it and got almost as many popular votes as Obama. So, while she didn't get THE nomination she certainly went the distance. Nothing to be sniveled at. So, as much as you protest, some of your reasoning is bogus.
