Andrew Meyer deserved it. The University of Florida student wasn't crusading for  freedom of speech. He wasn't pushing for political change. The college kid got tasered because he tried to pull a Borat. Break all social norm and decorum, push through the  walls of discomfort that dictate public behavior ... for a laugh. Shock everyone else ... catch it on camera ... and the jokes on us. Actually, Andrew got tasered for it. Joke's on him.

Campus police were asked by event organizers to escort the student out of the auditorium. They did. The student violently resisted arrest. They did their job. Let's not be naive to the destructive possibilites here. Student violence is well documented. It's not the campus police officers job to talk sense into a convulsing, screaming student melting down in an auditorium full of people. They had to get control of the situation to protect everyone else ... so bro got tasered. I say Bravo.

And now two campus police officers are on leave? The University of Florida president claims he wants the school to be an open environment for the free flow of ideas. Too bad that's not what this was about. Ask Andrew. Even in the police report Meyer is quoted as saying "I am not mad at you guys, you didn't do anything wrong, you were just trying to do your job."  Then he asked  if cameras would be present at the jail. Borat to the end.

Likewise Brian! They should have "juiced" him a second time, as far as I am concerned.

So this was some big attention-seeking thing of a bored college student? That just tells me, U of Florida needs to make their graduation requirements/curriculum more academically rigorous---then their student will have less time to be "bored".

...just the guy (Kerry) I'd enjoy seeing made a butt ho=e might've been given a more positive spin out of this engagement there at Univ. of Florida than there may have been hope for...that young creep has a lot more personal development to accomplish before we can chance releasing him from his straight jacket...

You know, if you're going to risk being arrested, tazed or just simply handcuffed. Why not risk it over someone BIG! I mean c'mon, John Kerry? Heck no, he should have made it worth his while and waited on Bush, Cheney or how about the Clintons? But to get tazed over Kerry, LMAO! What a dufus!

The rights of all Americans can be secured only through the establishment of fair processes and with a consciousness that all are equal in the eyes of the law. Yet on many campuses, the unfortunate accused face "kangaroo courts" without fair procedures, in which the political viewpoint of the "judges" greatly affect the outcome of trials. The accused are often charged with no specific offense, given no right to face their accusers, and sentenced with no regard for fairness or consistency
This incident took place December 4, 2007 inside of Johnson C Smith University’s bookstore. Another student and I were trying to sell back our books that we had purchased earlier during the semester. After purchasing my books I was confronted by Officer B. Thompson who tried to make me exit through the back door of the premises of the bookstore before I had finished my shopping. Before me and Officer Thompson got into the altercation he told the gentleman that was behind the counter at the bookstore “ I am ready for them today” ( referring to the students). I was trying to explain to him that I wanted to purchase something in the front of the store but yet he continued to use excessive force to ensure my departure from the bookstore. After attempting a second time to modulate to the front of the store he used his body force to slam me against the book shelf and pull my hair out in his hand. I still have the piece of hair he removed along with pictures. The officer who used the force doesn’t have the power of arrest on our campus meaning he is just a security guard. An unjust law is no law
