BARNZsongwriter's Blog

I've finally gone and done it!

I have released my first two singles on Itunes, Amazon and wherever music is sold on the Internet, if you search using my name BARNZsongwriter my first two songs are available to be purchased, Critiqued etc.

With everything that I've had to say about the performers on American Idol, well now it's my turn.

All of the songs were written, produced & performed by me, so if you don't like them I have no one to blame, but myself.

Enjoy.

Groove Army 1 out of 10
Just lame song all around.

Running Time .5 out of 10
I see the future, it's crystal clear. WAY OFF PITCH! And the harmony line is in a different pitch too.

Title change suggestion: 2 songs NO hope

I think I hear the washing machine running while you play that electronic organ. Did you record these in your basement?

Wow! YOU had nothing positive to say. Saw that coming and I welcome it.

Thanks for taking a listen, that's the important thing. Just wait till I start posting to my Acapella Diary, I'm sure you'll have a field day and listen to it all.

Didn't expect the 5 out of 10 for Running Time, wow, now I know there is hope.

Thanks again for taking the time to listen to my attempts at making music.

I did listen to the samples (didn't buy) truly did not like them. Good luck anyways there are tone deaf people out there who enjoy that kind of stuff. LOL

See, you gave me an out.

Personally I wouldn't want you to buy them, but listening to just the sample is no real way to give a real critique of what these songs have to offer.

The songs as a whole are solid songs. The little samples you heard are not enough to give any of your comments any kind of merit.

Once again, thanks for taking a listen.

"but listening to just the sample is no real way to give a real critique of what these songs have to offer."

Correct me if I'm wrong , but doesn't American Idol do just that?
They are basically samples of a full song, they get criticized by those. Also a SAMPLE is a taste of something. If the sample is sour....chances are the rest of it is too.

No need to correct you, but I will submit that American Idol takes a song that is over three minutes and compresses it down to one minute and perhaps a little more.

The samples of my songs is 5 to 10 seconds, that is much different and although it gives you the flavor of the song it does not give you enough to be able to render a clear judgement of the song as a piece of music.

The sample is there so as you said, you can decide if you want to hear more or you want to move on. Clearly after hearing the samples you have decided to move on, as is your choice, but that is all it gives you the ability to speak to. The music is simply not your cup of tea.

I've heard samples of songs on iTunes and brought them and sometimes the sample was cool, but the song as a whole was lacking. Such is life.

Just wanted to let you know I took the time. If it's American Idol that is your environment, well American Idol doesn't entertain me. So I guess I'm not into the popular sound in the first place. For me it's sort of monotonous. OTOH, I learned a lot about what it takes to put one's compositions on a cd. It helps to view someone else's first efforts.

Just so you understand where I'm at. I surprised myself by liking something I heard randomly on my car radio, La Vida ... Loca. Today I made sure I liked it by looking it up on the Web. I do like it. The funny thing is when I heard it for an instant on the radio I couldn't tell if it was Israeli/Hebrew or Hispanic/Spanish. So that told me something about how music sounds to me. Then quickly I looked at the car audio screen saw the word Loca:) So it's Sefardic;) just a poor pun.

I'm suggesting you just hit the preview all. It might be sounds you might be interested in. My music prof at Richland Community College got us all interested in African music. Not in this. I discovered this on my own because of him by googling African Jew, around 2002.

I was born January 14th 1961 at The Washington Hospital Center. For years my mother let me believe I was born on the 15th, so I now have a strong connection to Martin Luther King. One day I was able to look at my birth certificate and my mother confirmed it was the 14th, I asked her why didn't she correct me and she just said, "If you wanted to believe it was the 15th that was alright baby, that was alright." I've lived in every section of Washington DC, SE, NE, SW. You name it at some point I lived in a section of it, but my family finally landed in NW DC where my sister and her kids still live today in the family home. As a teenager I worked summer jobs in the District and Federal government at one point working for the State Department. I also went to the Duke Ellington School For The Performing Arts. I graduated in 1979 and promptly went into the military, the Air Force to be exact and I stayed in te Air Force till 1992. 13 years later two things happened that would change the direction of my life. I was released from the military after 13 years and my mother passed away. Thinking about it there were three things that happened, I also returned to Washington DC. To Be Continued.............
