Well, folks.  Before Osama...er, uh, Obama left for the middle east, Israel and Germany, I heard some knot headed reporter comparing him to JFK.  I heard her speak of the Berlin Wall and JFK's wonderful abiity to become one with German citizens when he said, (and bear with my spelling), "Ich bin eine Berliner!"  I winced as this addle-brain said that.  It is a fact that what JFK said to the German people that day was, "I am a doughnut!"  Well, sure as blazes, I was watching the news and danged if "Osama" didn't say in a speech to German youth at a rock concert regarding terrorists, ....if they grew up in HAMBURGER, and trained in..........someone should tell the dummy that the town he was TRYING to speak of is  HAMBURG, Germany.  I guess he WOWED those German youth....just like JFK did at the wall....at least once they stopped laughing.  Any wonder europeans think we are an odd lot.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain moved from being behind by 6 points among "likely" voters a month ago to a 4-point lead over Democrat Barack Obama among that group in the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. McCain still trails slightly among the broader universe of "registered" voters. By both measures, the race is tight.

The Friday-Sunday poll, mostly conducted as Obama was returning from his much-publicized overseas trip and released just this hour, shows McCain now ahead 49%-45% among voters that Gallup believes are most likely to go to the polls in November. In late June, he was behind among likely voters, 50%-44%.

Among registered voters, McCain still trails Obama, but by less. He is behind by 3 percentage points in the new poll (47%-44%) vs. a 6-point disadvantage (48%-42%) in late June.

Results based on the survey of 791 likely voters have margins of error of +/- 4 percentage points -- so McCain's lead is not outside that range. Results based on the survey of 900 registered voters also have margins of error of +/- 4 percentage points.

You know...it astounds me that in the face of such character and unabashed truth as Barack Obama greets the nation with, that John McCain has consistently gone the route of the typical Washington propoganda marketing machine. I take real pride in being an Obama supporter, as we all do, but I can enhance my stance when the man that I am following walks the talk- CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN!!! It is refreshing to see that Obama's campaign has not stooped to the level of previous campaigns (and McCain's current one) and gone on a personal attach, a smear campaign, or one that boasts outright untruths. It is refreshing to see Obama stand with his message of what his change will be for the country, and quite frankly depressing and a little annyoing to see McCain's camp release commercial after commercial that attacks Obama or uses some slight against him to try and get their message out- what we typically see every four years leading up to November....and that same ole' Washington same ole.

Pray tell? "Change we can believe in"? Ok.
What change? Specifically. Please by all means tell me.
I know Johnny's character. And yes we all know the socialist / workers party, in Germany told the people to show up for Obumma. Your not delusional enough to think 200,000 Germans could give a BLEEP about some big mouth, big eared senator from Chicago? Much less show up and cheer? LOL So what change?

Wasn't that a 'conservative' that shot up that Tennessee church because he "hated librals?"

Why is it that conservatives would rather lie and kill rather than run an honest hard working campaign?

Hey Y3Y3...is that your uncle?

Obama 2008!

DID YOU HEAR HOW OBAMA WALKED PAST A GROUP OF TROOPS IN IRAQ AND WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THEM?

If any of you actually took time to educate yourselves on his political views and actions plans, you would realize the change he is speaking of instead of making unsubstantiated personal claims against him...what is McCains regin going to be but a whitewashed version of the Bush legacy- oh four more years of corruption, funding for an illegal (unneccesary) war, and an economy teetering on ruin...great job republicans...

BTW- he is on the Homeland Security and Government Affairs committee, Health, Education and Labor Committee, Veterans Affairs Committee, and the Foreign Relations Committee...

but I suppose it is easier to sit around a spew a lot of rhetoric about the man, than to actually investigate what his stance is and accept the force feeding of a party intent on forcing its own will over the American people than the people themselves...what are McCain's issues (... I know its a rhetorical question)...or does simply being a POW validate you or qualify you to be PROTUS?

Youngpoet...that's just the problem...all we heard is "change" with no clarification of what that exactly meant for so long that when he finally HAD to tell us some of the "change" anyone with any sense at all would know this nation cannot financially afford what he has promised EVERYONE. His action is in the style of Huey Long....and we all know about Huey's promises...just like pie crust...but Huey didn't care....the idiots had already swallowed his promises and VOTED. Too late for the gullible.

Poet...also, I would trust a prisoner of war with my country sight unseen ten times over before I would trust an inexperienced little big eared buzzard OWNED by George Soros and the power and big money that own them BOTH.

poet;
We already know he has been groomed for six years to run, thus the committee appointments. He has no track record on any of them.
But I want is specifics! What is the change I can believe in?!

AveMaria- WBoyd,

You guys are great...this is what I really can enjoy- a spirited debate without the political name calling (despite the big eared buzzard comment) where I believe we can begin to challenge what the other ardently believes...( and I'm not being saracstic)

the country can afford the "change" that he is talking about, as in the case of tax cuts for millionaires in this country which are 160% greater than the tax cuts for average working americans or investing in maufacturing in this country to provide jobs for americans while simultaneuously promoting a greener philosphy and not turning the country into a welfare state...can we not afford for more americans to be at work? SEE ALSO HIS STANDS ON Mortgage reform, social spending, federal government budgetary discretion, NAFTA, and credit card reform (things that effect the people you see in the streets eveyday, i.e. moderate to middle income Americans, not the ones in Board Rooms behind closed doors making decisions like ENRON and TYCO.)

As far as george soros and obama's connection to him a big money- well you can be the honest judge of that, considering obama's obvious vocal stance to mitigate the controls and tax relief for major industry...

...look, I'm not criticizing McCain's POW history, I acutually can respect and admire any man who put his life on the line for this country and perservered through that type of hell that none of us could image...my issue is, does that give him a right to the white house? And in that respect- hasn't he also been groomed for years to take the role of president (

... hasn't he also been groomed for years to take the role of president (owned and operated by the conservative wealthy and the religious right -see also William Kristol)?

0bama also didn't go visit any of the wounded troops while in Germany because he couldn't take his crowd of Video cameras. So the "Richard Head" (everybody calls him Dick) played basket bawl.

How lame and shallow IS THAT FOOL???

Youngpoet...You have to remember that when you say your boy's gonna take money from the rich, that the "rich" are already paying MORE than their share just as the so-called "middle class" is paying more than their fair share in taxes. Socialists pulled this same trash and ended up killing off the rich...and what was left was "no one to keep the country going." I hate to tell you, kid, but the rich are just like you and me...they think, have ideas, and go for it....take THAT motivation away and you have stagnation of a country. Who the helllll is going to bust their keesters for your old boy to rip off most of what they earn? No one....just like Russia. Money motivates success...and that's the SOLE motivation of successful people....like it or not. We used to be an innovative, creative society...it has become a tax mad haven for every sleeze ball on earth. Robin Hood? You think he's gonna take from the rich and give to the poor? Unfortunately, not what a democracy is about....and if it WAS, it would be time to leave this piece of ship and form a new one elsewhere. We do need to turn this country around, but your boy is NOT the answer to anyone's prayer. If he is.... "elected"....we will continue until this country is where Soros wants us...most of us dead from starvation and war and BEGGING that buzzard for a crumb of bread...and a new Soros style government. You, personally, deserve what you get...but the rest of us DO NOT.

Also...just remember that your boy IS one of the rich. Think he's gonna want to give up BIG TAXES to support the horrendous sums of money to pay for all the "changes" he has promised folks? Nope. Bet your keester he won't. Dream on, kid. Dream on.
