As a 64 year old American, I've been around for awhile, yet still observe strange phenomena.  I've wondered about just how shrub was pressed into his candidacy...he may be a sweet man, but he is more than a couple of fries short of a happy meal.  This time out of the gate I've been observing both candidates and, like most of America, I don't get it.  McCain is a sweet man who is known for his bad temper...Obama has friends that no one in their right mind would allow their kids to associate with....yet both are vying for the top position in our country.  When I consider what I wish to see in a president, I cannot see that in either candidate.  Yesterday, I purchased Fareed Zakaria's "The Post American World."  In a quick scan of the book cover I note that Zakaria says, " The challenge for America is political decline, for as others grow in importance, the central role of the United States has to shrink."  He further states, "Washington needs to begin a serious transformation of its global strategy, moving from the dominating hegemon to a role that is more like an honest broker.  It must seek to share power, create coalitions, build legitimacy, and define the global agenda....all formidable tasks."  On the surface, Obama may have been "identified" by power brokers to accomplish the U.S.'s "global agenda." This man has been educated in a terrorist creating muslim school, a top american university, he rubs elbows with dissidents (Wright, Farrakhan, Ayers and others), he is part black, part white, he is young and appears very healthy, he clearly has handlers which are shaping his "image"..which means he will not be likely to rebel when given instruction by the "power brokers."  The list goes on as efforts to create this man evolve.  There is some BIG MONEY and POWER behind Obama.  Unfortunately, I do not see this man as having my best interest at heart....it is scarey.  Your thoughts?

Also..in considering a global environment, who better to talk with muslims? Who better to talk with black Africaners? Who better to talk with other multi-racial countries? It occurs to me that shrub's almost 8 years has so severely damaged us that we cannot grasp "the" leadership of a "global system" without some MAJOR overt change in focus and direction of the U.S. Don't get me wrong...I won't be voting for Obama...but I think I'm beginning to understand why the DNC and power brokers are focusing on this adz. I believe these power brokers are WRONG...but, then again, I can't read tea leaves.

In other words, it would appear that Obama is seen by the U.S. as THE one to lead America into THE leadership role in the global society. Also, do not forget that Obama has education in Asia as well. Remember that someone on this site said "...recently, Louis Farrakhan was in China..."? If we were to study world leadership, I'd guess the U.S. would only have a major role if we can repair our image, develop a benevolent attitude toward all nations).

I, am not ready to release the future of the United States to a "global" appointment who will not possess my interest as a citizen of this United States. That may be seen as "old fashioned". Unfortunately, I feel more secure with McCain whose temperament is known to be a bit knee-jerk, he lacks the will to end the Iraqi War, and pokes at Iran. At least I do not question that his interest in a Presidency is centered only on the United States of America.

You ask for thoughts?

That is just the problem. People for Obama do not think with their brains. They feel he should be President with their hearts. How sad for all of us!

I believe that's true, but what do you think? It seems to me that we are going to have a president shoved up our keesters who has been groomed to be the "global leader" as opposed to this country having a president whose focus is primarily on the problems inside this country. Do we dare think for 5 seconds that we truly have a choice???? I don't think so. McCain looks like he isn't trying anymore and Hillary doesn't give a ship anymore....and I'm getting the uneasy feeling that the POWER BROKERS plan to put their poster boy in office no matter what the people want....even if they have to do it fraudulently. I'm sorry that I do not make a good follower...the poster boy frightens me as an american.

I am reminded of the movie which starred Robert Redford who was the "pretty boy", "know nothing" who won the senate election of his state.

At the very end, after winning, he was absolutely lost! He kept saying- "What do I do now?" "What do I do now?".

Obama can't even keep himself in line with his own party. Remember the Senate compromise last week? Obama went on the air with a view contrary to his Democratic peers. On which subject you ask? It doesn't matter.......

God help us all if the idiot voters (or whoever), puts this fool in office.

0bama is not qualified to be president. He is a bad judge of character, and has surrounded himself with various untrustworthy riff-raff.
0bama has no experience LEADING OTHERS. He has run his mouth, telling everybody what he thinks. He rattles off his OPINIONS all the time. But without real experience, his opinions mean nothing.

His followers are amazingly stupid. Most cannot tell you what experience he had before he became a senator. Most all his followers cannot tell you of his corrupt friends.

The worst type of people in the US are those ignorant 0bama supporters who don't even know what kind of a person HE IS, and they don't know how government works. Those followers will assume he's got all these great ideas, not understanding that he's guessing that some of his ideas might work. His followers are JUST TOO STUPID to know when he's lying to them.

BigSmooov - are you retarded? Turn off the American idol and mindless JUDGE JUDY for a second. What scare tactics in 04 are you referring to?

You and YOUR GOOFY liberal pals are incredible! We were hit in 01 and they are working hard to hit us again. To deny that would be reckless ,stupid and ignorant! That was the the political rhetoric of Kerry and that's why he lost.

What do you crazy liberals want? What Do you nutty liberals think Obama is going to do to stop Iran 's aggression for a nuclear weapon? Do you care? oh they would never use it on us right-only Isreal? How elitist and stupid is that type of thinking!

It is your elitist view that say , as long as we give nations everything they want -let them do whatever and they want and stay out of it ,they will like us. Oh I see, YOU WANT TO BE LIKED . Most liberals have a psychological problem with not being like and that's why they are so willing to sell out everything American now. They don't want to p1ss the middle east off or many world competitors.

This phenomenon after 9/11 is called " out of control-Hysteria -behavior. Most liberals need a smack across the face to snap them out of this thing.

BEN LADIN has scared Liberals COMPLETELY sh555less! Trust me folks, they are TERRIFIED of TEAM OSAMA. He is the new Freddy Kroger or Jason! Liberals just want to run and hide.

So Smooov" we are scared of clowns like you and a Obama type rhetoric that is ,essentially, death wish for America.......

Okay, everyone...name calling is not the purpose of my comments. Those who know me since I "walked through the door a couple of months ago, know that I've been very concerned about the corrupt election process. Also, when you consider the fact that Obama was "created" by BIG MONEY and POWER BROKERS, the one thing you are not focusing on is the fact that those very BROKERS and BIG MONEY may NOT be AMERICAN. If that is the case, this adz called "Obama" will focus on "something else"...meaning the rest of the world...NOT the crumbling infrastructure, the economy that is in the toilet, the banking system just hanging on by its fingernails and THAT's slipping, etc....on and on. The POWERS seem to think this is "global time"...not FIXING TIME for America. This world is in skip shape, but somebody has the horse before the cart..we need to fix America. If we do that first, we can help others in the global society. Unfortunately, people can't see what I see. THAT's what I want you guys to think about and then tell me your thoughts...without name calling, please.

0bama is peaking TOO EARLY! He will be a has-been by the end of September. You watch. The media will have us as SICK OF 0BAMA as we are from that bearded "Oxy-Clean" Spokesman.

By the end of September:
We will have had ENOUGH of that bigmouth racist Ms. 0bama.
We will be sick of the reasons 0bama ISN'T A MUSLIM.
We will be sick of the reasons 0bama ISN'T A RACIST - even after 20 years of rev.Wright.
We will be sick of his "Change" slogans
We will be sick of his theories, and ideas.
we will be sick of his staff.

Y3, I PRAY you are right; however, with the corrupt election system that we have, I'd be willing to bet that if McCain gets 9/10 of the citizens' votes, this corrupt system will give Obama 9/10 of the electoral votes, and McCain the remaining 1/10. When I hear family and friends say they are not going to vote because our candidate was skreud over by the POWER Brokers and BIG MONEY (who may not even BE American) pushing Obama, I want to poke them with a stick. VOTE. Our votes may not count, but we should NOT make it easy for the buzzards.

I don't know what you mean about the world is in skip shape. As I last checked , people in Europe were all doing fine. Most are satisfy with government health care and 2-3 months vacation yearly. They all think Americans work worry too much(LOL).

China and India has become more industrial and have both increased their business centers. They don't appear in skip shape. They both are willing to pay 150$ a barrel for oil!!

Oh, and if you didn't know. The Chinese aren't all riding bikes anymore. Now, the Chinese are buying SUVs and Lexus's model cars.

This is something the elitist left and the democrats wont tell you. They want you to think the Chinese are all still riding bikes in sandals. (some are but, it's lessor every day) The notion that we-Americans- must help them ,while neglecting our selves when they are actually moving ahead of us, is crazy. The problem is the elitist core of our society are too out of touch to notice(i am whispering now) china has caught up with us......

Even In the middle east, in places like Dubai, it has become the largest tourist attracting in the world. Vegas has nothing on it. If you ever went there, I promise you , you would never say they are all in skip shape!People from all over the world go there to do huge business deals and vactaion. The american MTV crowd don't have a clue. After 911, our outlook have crumbled , while everyone else in the world are asking "what is wrong with you Americans these days"?

We are running like the sky is falling and they are all embracing a new world of commodities and resources!

P.S.
The world is not in skip shape , Americans are just in denial and are fearful that we now must compete in a global market! The world has caught up! We must Drill and Drill now. We must return to being inventors and leaders in new technology. Just that simple!

drunner...The world DOES have problems. In Germany, the flood of Turks and middle easterners has dragged their very high standard of living to the crapper. I know that because my brother in law's family now speaks of massive areas that are so dangerous that NO german citizen will enter. All german citizens used to have freebies that WE never had...all retirees received a free vacation once a year for 30 days at a resort of their choice....but not anymore. Great Britain is having a terrible time with its economy...jobs are scarce and people are as worried as we are about their homes and ability to keep up. I don't think you should even speak of Dubai, which is a creation of OIL RICH SAUDI ARABIA. No one in their right mind would even attempt to compare Dubai to the rest of the world...Dubai is OIL MONEY's TOY...not a country like others in this world. Dubai will feed the middle east when oil is gone.

As far as China is concerned, we are not so dumb as to think they are still the "bike riding masses" of a few years ago. In fact, we do all have televisions and SEE that the Chinese have automobiles, and, now, their biggest problem seems to be fouled air from those automobiles. The world IS moving ahead at a rapid pace, but most countries do have some major problems. At the same time, it appears we are all jockying for "the" leadership role in a "One world government." Drunner...does this mean that you would vote for a PRESIDENT with focus on THAT position THIS YEAR? Is that what you want in your president right now, or do you want to see THIS country's problems the focus of our president this coming January?

drerunner....if you don't know what I mean about the "Scare Tactic" in '04, then you shouldn't be on here talking.

"...we shouldn't switch up leadership while our country is at war because it will show a lack of unity within our coutry....It would show the terrorist that we are weak...We have a plan in place that will be effective in the long run where we can start withdrawing troops in the near future."

Bush: 2004 Republican Convention!

Y3Y3...only thing the people are sick of is the conservative think tank messing with the intellegence of the American people. We are sick of the lies and the billions of dollars it takes to keep it going (Iraq war).
