Here's a sad story that shows none of us is immune during these tough economic times...

It seems Ed McMahon, who for decades appeared as Johnny Carson's sidekick on "The Tonight Show," is fighting to avoid foreclosure on his multimillion-dollar Beverly Hills home.

McMahon is said to be $644,000 behind on payments on $4.8 million in mortgage loans. The Wall Street Journal reported  that 85 year old  McMahon hasn't  been unable to work since he broke his neck 18 months ago.

Hi everybody...this morning (5/16) we had a story about Portia DeRossi and Ellen DeGeneres getting married not that California has ruled the ban on same sex  marriage unconstitutional.  Anyway my brush with Portia DeRossi some seven years ago (while the actress was on Ally McBeal) was brought up on the show and I said I would blog about it.

I'm making good on that..sort of.  Let's just say she wasn't that nice to me after I complimented her on how cute her dogs were that she was carrying.  I was bothered by her diva attitude back then but these days it's taught me a greater lesson.

Sometimes you carry grudges against people who have NO IDEA that they have offended you.  She doesn't know me from a hole in the wall but I took it personally.  The lesson for me here...forgive, it much easier than carrying dislike in your heart.

I forgive you Portia and myself for holding a stupid grudge.

Have you seen the Miley Cyrus photos that are coming out in Vanity Fair magazine?  The photos were shot by famous photographer Annie Leibovitz and show the 15 year old's bare back with a sheet wrapped around her.

The young superstar said she thought the pics would come off as artistic but now she's embarrased by them and is apologizing to her fans.

My question is this...what was the point in the first place of showing the teenager in such a provocative pose?  Why would her parents (or handlers) allow it?  She is worshiped by young impressionable girls who watch the Disney Channel, who were the photos for?

The good news is that it will sell plenty of magazines...the bad news is she is coming off way older than her 15 years.

Matt McConaughey as the new Thomas Magnum?? Really?  We recently reported on the midday that they are indeed making the hit tv show into a major motion picture.  What's more is they have tapped Matt for the lead.

Now as a big time fan of Magnum P.I. and say NO!!!  IT'S A MISTAKE!  I just can't see him in the role made famous by Tom Selleck!

SO instead of just complaining, I'm offering a solution...cause its not too late Hollywood...Hugh Jackman as Magnun!

Thoughts?

It's Halloween and we got a chance to have a little bit of fun on the morning shows today.  Hey the "Today Show" does it we figured we could dress up for a couple of minutes for one day right?! Anyway it got me thinking about how little fun we as adults have.  The demands of life sometimes makes me forget that a big part of mental health is letting go, laughing and being silly every now and then.

So here's what I'm gonna do...take the opportunity to have fun tonight...why should the kids be tho only ones?

Happy Halloween!

I love a reason to decorate as much as the next person but I just have one question.  When did Halloween get so big? I mean folks are going all out decorating their homes for the Halloween season.  I get a kick out of it but I don't rememebr it being this big when I was younger.  What's behind this I wonder...

Only the individual can determine their own rock bottom.  At least that's what I believe...but I gotta tell you, this seems like rock bottom to me...pop star, Britany Spears has temporarily lost custody of her two kids.

A judge has ordered that Spears toddlers be taken away and live with their father Kevin Federline.

This is a truly sad situation.

One can only hope she gets some help to sraighten her life out.  Maybe this is her wake-up call.  Divorce is already sad enough but this is heartbreaking.

p.s. Who would have thought that Kevin Federline would be deemed the better of the two parents.

Blond bombshell Pamela Anderson is heading down the altar again this time she is set to marry Rick Saloman.

If the name sounds familiar but you just can't place it, he's best-known for making a sex videotape with his then-girlfriend Paris Hilton. Before that he was married to Shannon Doherty.

Is there no one else in Hollywood?  Wow!

So if you are even marginally interested in the singing career of Britney Spears then you have seen or at least heard about her recent performance on MTV's Video Music Awards.

In short, it was supposed to be the pop princess's comeback after making headlines for all the wrong reasons recently.  Instead it was an uninspired performance that left audiences at home and there in Las Vegas scratching their heads.

I have been rooting for Brit.  I love a good comeback story and I had every faith that she would make her legions of  fans proud.  Sadly, that didn't happen.  So my question is this...can the 20 something year old former superstar really come back? What do you thing?

Rapper Kanye West says he's never coming back to MTV.

SO WHAT!!

Sorry, back to the story...

West's declaration came after the 29 year old artist lost all five catagories he was nominated in, including best male artist of the year. He was also reportedly upset that he didn't perform on the main stage at the VMA's but a satellite location piped into the large auditorium.  Didn't he know where he was performing?  And does he think it's his right to win?  There are lots of talented artist out there who would LOVE to be nominated and perform at this event.  I am growing tired out his attitude.

Come on Kanye! Ok, I'm done.

Tyra Banks kicks off the  third season of her hit talk show on Monday, September 10th.  She's moving from Los Angeles to New York City for the new season, and judging from the clips that she brought, the new location promises to be fun and energetic.

Trya has made a living on being  "just like everybody else."  She talks openly about her weight and self esteem issues ...that most of us face.  She's also started a couple of charities that tackle the same tough topics.  Still all of that is her public persona and when I heard she was coming in and I was interviewing her...I was a little afraid that it might all be an act.

Well, I'm happy to say that she has the same open and warm personality that you see on tv in person.  It was a treat to have her in studio.

The new show airs at noon, right after the midday show at eleven!

We haven't seen R&B singing sensation El DeBarge for a while..well now, we know where he is...sitting in an LA County jail cell.

The 46 year old DeBarge was arrested last Sunday on a domestic violence charge.  He remains in jail because he had two previous warrants for arrests in drug cases making bail not an option.

He has so much talent, this was a disappointing story to hear.

Did you love the hit  1980's detective show Magnum P.I. as much as I did?  Ok, stop laughing, I'm serious!  The cool mustache...the fast sportscar...the tropical beauty of Hawaii as a backdrop all made the show so good in its eight season and beyond in syndication.  I didn't even talk about the ever charming Tom Selleck with his short shorts and Hawaiian shirts and that  twinkle in his eye (dreamy..but I digress).  Well they are trying to cast the lead in a big screen adaptation of the series.  Who would you guess they were looking to fill Magnum's boat shoes?  George Clooney, maybe Ben Affleck?  NO!!  Nick Cage!  As a diehard fan, I can't see it..can you?

In an ever changing world, it is fantastic to have some consistency of a familiar face (in this case voice).  Donnie has grown with the different music genres, styles, and times.  Going back to the days of BET and WKYS-FM to WPGC-FM and all the good work he does in the community, Donnie Simpson is a Washington DC living legend for sure.

Congrats!

Today on the morning show, we had the pleaseure of celebrating Donnie Simpson's 30 years on the airwaves of District radio.  Tony Perkins was at Ben's Chili Bowl with Donnie and his radio crew to welcome the many  folks who came out for free breakfast and to meet and great this local (and national) icon.  It was a fun morning.

Britney Spears is back in the news.  This time it is because she allegedly  threw a baby bottle and threatened two photographers after they took pictures of her leaving a Las Vegas spa.  The photographers said thatn she yelled "I am going to kill you!" and cursed at one photog who also says she was beaten up by her bodyguard.  That photgrapher says he will sue.

My point in bringing up all this "style section news" is this...to me it appears that Britany (and Nicole Richie, and Lindsay Lohan...) appear to be cracking under the pressures of Hollywood.  Because they are celebs, we tend to make light of it.  The really sad part is that because of all their money and fame, maybe their problems aren't really taken seriously.  Until it's too late, and the news goes from the "buzz bin," to tomorrow's top tragic  story.
